He needn't any makeup or even an intimidating outfit to show that he MEANS business (to say the least). This makes every other band seem like posers (which, in a way, isn't far from the truth). This tour Pixies was headlining and it was so much fun ~ there's something about a small venue that makes it even better.
The reunion shows in 2003 (ish) at Brixton were amazing too. Hard to believe what happened musically in the 12 years they broke up. Now they've been back for 15 years! The legend of the band when they were all solo was immense and magical.
I went to this gig. Wierd, it was not sold out, lots of empty spaces. Best thing was a school teacher had taken his class (ages 10-12) to it they adored it (bouncing around with them at the back right hand-side). This one, last in the UK, they did exactly the same set as Crystal Palace. (Probably why is wasn't sold out, two nights too - this was the last night)., Brixton 1990 = single best gig I've ever seen though. My God they were amazing! Better that year than the Town and Country gigs.
