Don't kid yourselves. Mitchell is a huge part of the Fever and they need her. Pay her the money and keep her.
Mitchell don't want to be playing for the Fever and keep going through that circus of a mess over and over again. Clarks fans have called Mitchell and Boston all kinds of names except for a child of God. Especially when they lose a game. It's all Mitchell and Bostons fault and they talk about them like dogs. It's never Clarks fault. Both Mitchel and Boston need to run from that racist place as soon as possible.

She has a lot of value on the team but the real question is she happy with that role.
Her value is very limited. She's a ball hog that can't rebound, won't pass and is a streaky shooter. Her defense is also mediocre at best. More weaknesses than strengths to her game.

I am the opposite of a lot of the comments. I have seen KM go from an all out ball hog to an actual team player. Her role as an outlet 3 point shooter has been pretty amazing. I hope KM stays and keeps letting those open 3's fly. KM if you read this, stay with the fever or you will lost and forgotten on a bunk team.

The question is can she stay content to that role or revert back to her ball hog ways.
She will never be the passer they need her to be. For the Fever to seriously challenge for a title, they need a 2 guard who can - and wants to - pass back to Caitlin. Sims from Dallas is a much better fit. And they need a faster forward to compliment Temi, If she stays healthy. Smith has to go. Katie Lou as well.

Kelsey is a very good player she was playing well when CC was struggling so I think it's a shame for anyone to throw her under the bus. She always answers questions philosophically ...that's just her. And why are we talking about this right now 😳
@@september9113 it can be maddening when she hogs the ball. However, that is a coaching problem just as much as it is Kelsey's issue.
When was Clark struggling? The first few weeks of the season was her only rough patch. Her shooting has been a bit off for her standard but still on par with league averages.
Because she’s possibly leaving next year and also because f how she responded to the media like shes no longer part of the Team which is weird,at least include yourself part of the Team until contract is over
I like Wheeler but she was a very bad financial decision. Way overpaid for what she brings to the game. The Fever is eating it on that contract.
It's absurd that Wheeler is the highest paid player on the team,and she isn't even a starter.

CC needs some basic skills to be rehoned, like dribbling with her left hand, her mid range shots and her defense. if she doesn't improve on those areas, Fever still needs Mitchell because she bailed Fever so many times with her clutch 3s. But i do hope Mitchell leaves like denise is saying, because some CC fans can be very toxic and scrutinize everything about Fever to hide CC's flaws.
CC will enter the Star-Trek replicator portal and the Fever roster will consist of 12 CC's.

Maybe Mitchell is a player that just wants her numbers and the wins and losses don’t much matter as long as she gets hers, that what I get from her. Your point guard is the biggest star in the league and your team gets major attention, if she leaves then you know it’s just about her getting stats.
Can’t wait to see what kind of stats she will get once she no longer has a selfless passer like CC to help giving her wide open looks and the ball on a silver plater as a bonus. I think there is a fair chance that her stats will drop like a rock. I don’t wish her ill but I think she doesn’t realize how good she has it with CC right now as her point guard and that her stats might never be the same as a result.

@@michelleblanc6377 the reason CC selflessly passes the ball so much now is she can't make her logo 3s anymore (close to 50% in her college years, now it's close to Wallace). in one of her worst games performance, she shot and missed 1 out 9 3pters. it seems like she has settled on a role as a best assist player of WNBA rather than a best 3pt shooter of what she was known for in college. Mitchell had bailed Fever out so many games with her clutch 3s when CC couldn't deliver. I do actually want Mitchell to leave and see Fever crumble under pressure so that CC fans can see how valuable Mitchell really was for the team.
@@dude8273 What an elevating life goal spreading lies and wish ill on someone or a team. Why spread lies? Because there is close to a 7% difference between Wallace and CC in 3pts percentage. Secondly you don’t know CC she has won the title for most assist in a year and finished third overall for career passing in the NCAA. You make it sound like she was hogging the ball like your protege Mitchell she was never that player not even in college. She always did what was best for the team even back in college. As far as Mitchell goes I think the best thing that can happen to her is she continues to play with CC and have a coach competent enough to curb her bad decision making to pass when it is time to pass and shoot when it’s the right option. If you can’t see that CC has always been doing what is best for the team and not what was most rewarding for CC and her stat sheet. You are just a plain h@ter that has an axe to grind for whatever reasons you have to do that.
The 3 I need to be kept are Boston, CC, and Hull with Mitchell as a close/fringe 4th. The rest can stay or go as far as their contribution/fit for the team based on results heading into the break. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out to see if that changes my opinion

Mitchell knows the money is staying with Clark, especially long term. The money in the WNBA is not the contract, its the recognition and then endorsements and media gigs after you retire.
Caitlin and Kelsey just scored a combined 57 points against the Mercury. If Kelsey gets a better contract in free agency she’ll deserve it. Caitlin will continue to help Kelsey to be her best. The Fever need to evaluate that at the end of the season.
Mitchell needs to leave that circus of a mess ASAP. Kelsey helps Clark. Don't get it twisted. We all know Mitchell is the best on that team.
Unsure how all this works, but shouldn’t all W caps go up given increased revenue? And at least shouldn’t the Fever cap go up?
When they redo the CBA all that will change
She is just playing to maximize her stats and get a big contract in free agency. She never passes the ball as soon as she gets it and lets last second passes from Clark through on purpose to not mess up her shooting % it is crazy. Indiana will find some players that want to acutally play with Clark and Boston in the offseason. I hope they build more around a fast transition and passing team like it was played in Iowa or in Europe and not to give Mitchell the ball and the other 4 run back because she will never give up the ball again.

She is there to be a shooter. She has had many great games this year. When the team changes, it takes some time for each player to adjust to their new teammates, to maximize productivity. She's a great player, and can create on her own, esp when others are struggling. Every team needs someone like that, who can score and let the rest of the team take a play off. You are claiming her misses passes from CC on purpose? No.
@@a2knyc I am definitely in agreement with the fact that she plays for her stats a bit too much and that when she has the ball she can hardly make another decision besides shooting to the basket. Some of that responsibility is on the coach to rein her in and tell her that what she does is not what is expected of her to help the team succeed. I think she has a spot within that team as long as we can get her to play team ball instead of hero ball.

Shes a scorer..thats her role. She has to shoot and be aggressive to relieve pressure off Caitlin. Along with ab, they carry the scoring burden. She's figuring out how to play with each other, shes cutting and moving without the ball well.
Mitchell will go to whom ever will give her the most money. We all knew that was coming.

Don't think money is the issue. She will be maxed out at ~$240-$250 which isn't much more than what she is making now. Ironically, she might actually be looking at a pay decrease if she goes to the Mystics, Sparks, Sun, or Liberty based on income tax and cost of living. Ultimately, if she does leave it's because she doesn't feel she's in the right situation in Indiana.
Fever should have the money to give her a max deal (she's already getting paid close to the max in the WNBA). Question will be if Mitchell wants to be there. Fever should be a really good team moving forward, but I can understand why some players don't want to play on a team with Clark. It's not because Clark is a selfish player or poor teammate, but I can see players getting sick of the circus around Clark. On the other hand, it gives her a lot of exposure and name recognition to be on a team with Clark, but she will likely never get the credit that she probably wants.
I love Kelsey Mithcell and what she brings to the game -- just keep hoping she'll tighten up her floor awareness to improve and increase passing too ... She has so much tunnel vision to only the basket when she gets the ball.
She's a veteran player. It's hard to imagine her changing her ways.

Anyone who is a free agent doesn't want to make public comments that they don't want to leave. That hurts negotiations. Free agents want to test the waters, esp when you've been with the same team as long as Mitchell. I wouldn't read too deep into it. Whether she stays or goes all depends on the teams who are interested in her, and Indiana's other options to replace her. It's a market system. How much the Fever are willing to pay depends a lot on how this season finishes.
Agreed anything to the opposite would not be in her best interest financially speaking.
Negotiations are based on value to the team not off hand public comments. Also loyalty is one of those valuable traits a team needs.

Fever management put themselves into the situation of not being able to make any major moves by paying Wheeler way too much. They need to drop Wheeler when her contract is up and pay Kelsey a little more to stay but I don’t understand why she wouldn’t like the Game Plan which she gets to score more and get more space because CC also draws double Team which leavers her and Teammates open to easily score
They need to offer Kelsey more money because they can’t afford to lose her,she’s a perfect with CC and they average both average 17 ppg and she’s a closer,Erica Wheeler contract is also up and shes one of the highest paid player in Fevers along with Kelsey so they can just let Erica Wheeler go and use some of that money to pay Kelsey Mitchell
At the moment, Mitchell is key to win games. Whenever she's having a bad game it's difficult to win, and we don't have a player that can do what she does (when she's performing well). Unless they can find a really good replacement, they dhould definitely keep mitchel. We do need to get rid of Wheeler's salary

More than a once in the last few games when the Fever have desperately needed a basket to stop the bleeding, Kelsey Mitchell has delivered. That left handed high arcing shot of hers is so gorgeous and it hardly ever touches anything but net.
She should totally be evasive about whether she's returning to Fever. Helps her negotiating posture for next year's salary.
Beyond that...
First question is whether Kelsey even wants to return to the Fever. They have NEVER, not even once, had a winning season since she was drafted 6 years ago. Maybe she's tired of losing. Maybe she's not as optimistic as the fans are about the upcoming second half.
Second question is how does she feel about Coach Sides? Does she like working with her? Or does she want to escape her?
Third question is what kind of city she wants to live in. Does she like Indianapolis? Or would she rather be somewhere else?
Fourth question is how does she feel about having once been the star player on the team, and now the spotlight has shifted to Caitlin? Does that bother her? She used to be second highest NCAA Division 1 scorer. Thanks to Caitlin and Dyaisha Fair, she's now fourth.

Since the team has started to mesh the last 10 games I agree that the Fever would be wise to try and keep Mitchel in Indy. She has been thriving at #2 Guard and has hit some big shots. With Wheeler being gone at the end of the year they will have plenty of cash to go after another player or 2 to round out the team.
Hopefully Mitchell is just trying to get as much out of the Fever as she can. I don’t blame her. I hope she stays, if she wants to. She seems like she is having fun out there. I hope she stays but we will see

I’ve seen other interviews where Mitchell has said it’s a business, she’s playing for a max contract and so forth. She’s also very aware that this could be her last season because she’s a FA next year. All of this is fine. Concerning next year, we know Wheeler’s gone. You don’t pay a max contract to a backup point guard who plays 5 minutes a game. Mitchell is a maybe but I do hope she stays- it helps the two must keep players (Clark and Boston) are on rookie contracts so you might want to keep kelcie on the max contract she would probably get somewhere else.

I don’t think KM gets fed on another team as much as CC gets the ball to her so she could regret it. I think KM has grown in her relationship and ball playing with CC so I hope she stays. CC needs a runner and Kelsey is that. I worry Sides wouldn’t ditch Wheeler even though she should.

She is very smart, she played on a fundamentally sound team, and a special talent with Clark. Without, she would not be remembered. Monica would have been 3rd string or cut completely from teams like UConn or SC.
Im just not sure why some, so many suggest this. It’s like wishing Labron James could hook up with an old HS player. Suggesting they did well together, and that was all that mattered.

I wanted to hear this. Kelsey is an explosive scorer, but the Fever need a more well-rounded 2 guard to challenge for a title. No, sir, she is not a good fit for Caitlin. A 2 GUARD that passes back to Caitlin that grabs the occasional rebounds is a better fit. 2024 Misty Sims is a much better fit.

yes, I hope Mitchell runs away from that team as fast as possible. They have called Mitchell, Boston, and Smith everything but a child of God! She deserves much better and I feel sorry for whoever else that team gets. Many players will not go to the Fever. They don't want all the mess that comes with it.

If her fans didn't come after Reese because they are so jealous of a beautiful black queen who happens to play basketball, I might would like her more! Not surprising, not a huge deal. You have been wrong about Mitchell and her fit and importance on the team. She’s a fantastic player, not a fantastic fit. She ‘could’ fit, but only if she wants too. I think she would rather be the focal point of a team, which she has the talent to do.
Kelsey is gone after this season. She has been extremely selfish with the ball because she's a FA at season's end, so she views this season as an audition for other teams. Period.
