I was walking aorund that saturday with a backpaack full of minis and painting supplies when I suddenly heard "Hey nice shirt!" in a very familiar voice, and I turned and went "Oh shit! Hi Graham! Hi Ben!" and it absolutely made my weekend that you noticed the DB shirt I had on and I got to day hi in passing! I'm very happy you all always have a great time and pleasant experience in my city and hopefully I'll get to say hi again the next time you're here!
Hey Graham, just wanna leave a note of appreciation. Thank you for your Vlog content it is always so chill. Today was not one of my best days so your content really grounded me. Thank you and stay awesome! Also: thanks Jordynne for editing and Ben for cohosting!
After coming back from my first PAX Unplugged I actually tried to make my own version of cheesesteak with ingredients sourced from ALDI. I call it Edinburgh Cheesesteak.
You went to Vietnam Restaurant! They just won the 2024 James Beard America's Classics Award! They're a staple of the city's Vietnamese cuisine. There are other places that are more trendy but for dependable Vietnamese you picked the right place! I gotta get you business boys back to Philly for a proper food trip when you're not trying to get six games of magic in. We'll get you a bialy! That said, Reading Terminal is never not crowded. XD Conventions definitely make it crazier but it's always a little crazy.
Speaking of weird convention experiences, I went to a Digital Pathology conference in the same hotel space as a horror convention! That was pretty fun walking through lots of horror movie props and random macabre stuff before going and learning more about slide scanning machines and digital pathology.
2:04 "Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Bialy" sounds absolutely delicious. Its *also* a food category known as a "Heretics Sandwich," since Bialy are a Polish-Jewish bread roll, and thats pork AND cheese that were slapped on it!
Meagen from Scotland here, hope the shortbread was good! My accent gets *really* thick when I'm trying to be heard through a mask and over a convention hall.
10:30 - Craziest collection of events sharing a space I've ever been part of: #4 - furry convention and rock radio station summer concert event (this was also the coolest), #3 - Worldcon and a quebradita (Mexican dance party), #2 furry convention and Amway, and #1 - furry convention, weed convention & Women's High School Volleyball tournament. What's yours, commenters?
Re "Other things in the same convention centre" - a few years ago a Magic GP in the UK was next door to a Quilting convention. Even now, you can see Competitive regulars at large UK Magic events wearing quilting T-shirts :D
7:50 G mentioning his clothing acquisitions immediately reminded me of the GP Road Trip episode of Friday Nights where he only wore increasingly more obnoxious clothing sourced from gas stattions 😂😊
Duck enthusiast reporting in. My internet nickname is "the duck" written in reverse in french and purposefully misspelled, and I have an embarrassing number of duck-related plushes and figurines, none of which I bought myself. Ducks!
But do you eat them? I was delighted by how many people liked ducks in the comments, was looking forward to seeing some good ducks at the duck part of the video.... Then I arrived there 😂
Oh cool. Didn't know you guys went to pax unplugged 2023. Glad it was a great time. Perfect con to make a chill vlog. To answer the cheesesteak question: It depends on your own tastes, a couple of names thrown out there are Angelo's Pizza, Steve's Prince of Steaks (original one off Bustleton Ave), Dallesandros, John's Roast Pork, Joe's Steaks n Shakes, Cleavers
As a Philadelphian, I say the best steak experience is, with a friend, go to John's Roast Pork and split a cheeseteak and and Italian roast pork. But the authentic Philly cheesesteak experience is just to stop at the first cart you pass on the street that smells good.
Graham was weirdly close guessing the accountancy expo sharing the space! In 2022 PAX Unplugged shared the convention center with an education convention for teachers. Some of the teachers thought that's what we were there for too when checking into our hotel, and they were confused by all the board gaming happening in the lobby.
oh baby it warms my heart knowing Ben wants to play my boy Gor Muldrak, hoping one day i get to play my deck against him so he can sign one of my Salamander tokens
"I don't want to steal other chairs because that just causes problems for other people." I once walked out on a date because when we sat down at a dinner theater with mixed seating, she realized she was missing a knife and fork, and took the knife and fork from the place setting across from hers. As the people who would be sitting there were being escorted tot he table. She then looked at them plainly and said "I was missing a knife and fork, so I took yours. You'll have to get the server to bring you more." with absolutely no apology in her voice. Just matter-of-factly. I paid my share, told her it was never going to work, and left. No show was going to be worth having to interact with that monster for two hours.
angelos pizzeria, best cheesesteaks and very good pizza too. Cash only though, in south Philly. Make sure to call ahead and good luck finding parking 😂
The difference between train people and Warhammer terrain makers, is that the latter involves a TON more explosions and damage pits. Don't get me wrong, the former can probably do it just as well - but they don't do it nearly as often.
You wanted to ask what Rittenhouse Market was when there isn’t any major events around? Ima tell you this right now as someone who goes there often for good value butchers it is ALWAYS busy af Also is there a way to know where you’ll be?
@@GrahamStarkVlogs That's fair, I am sorry about that Philip's Delessandro's John's Roast Pork, and I'm sure Reading Terminal itself has a great cheesesteak Geno/Pat's are overpriced tourist traps that only are successful bc of the attention they've received. Can we request that this gets added to the next lrr highlight reel?

Sorry, but pretty certain highlight reels are specifically for Twitch streams. @@TheUniversalthought

Its hard to describe, but G Vlogs always just bring a sense of calmness. A place to chill

I deeply enjoy your chill vlogs, Graham. They let me visit the world from the comfort of my phone and pleasantly de-stress me. Thanks and keep at it!

I have a Jewish friend that calls bagel sandwches with ham/bacon and cheese "goyim bagels"
Dang it Ben, now I want to see a model train layout setup for the 40K Kill Team League.
"How was the restaurant?"
Cut to Ben with the most post-restaurant glazed eyes look on his face.
That told me all I need to know
THANK YOU, GRAHAM! Now I'm going to have Cruel Angel's Thesis stuck in my head the rest of the week.
It's all good, anyway.
I'm so glad y'all were at PAX U! When you stopped by the Restoration Games booth, it absolutely made my day!

It was great! Thank you!
Great shirt, Meagen! :D
I enjoy the speculation at 10:30, especially given the "Dental Magicon" they would soon experience in Chicago.
My favorite bit as well, fun foreshadowing of MagicCon Chicago.
Turns out it's really fun to watch Graham just Wander Around And Do Things
that ending time lapse sky line shot was fire. love your vlogs graham
I love watching clouds around skyscrapers when in your own tower. Just beautiful.
25:57 I am a bit of a duck enthusiast too. The Ducktales reboot was awesome and deserved a 4th season.
Thank you for making these Vlogs. They are always so interesting and fun.
What up Graham Nation! I love Duck!
I've been to that exact Vietnamese restaurant. I quite liked it.

Ah, my favourite singer who only gets rolled out at Christmas: Nicki Minjaj

Ben's brain confusing Nicki Minaj with Mariah Carey as the Christmas Warbler 😂🤣
I too enjoy Duck.
The Amish diner is amazing.
Wasn't expecting to see cosplayers of Larry and Rika from Pokemon Scarlet Violet so that's delightful (I'm so deep in the soup)
13:10 I thought Graham was going to say "Weeee... just killed a bunch of people".
It's always droll, perhaps a little funny, when very good ethnic restaurants are very plainly named like that. In my city we have That Lebanese Place.
Incredible to see someone treating commander as a casual format and not getting hung up on "rules"
