    The chuck needs a tailstock so that the pipe can be supported quickly ! Changing the height of those supports for every different size would be a pain.

    • @Elbert_Heather
      @Elbert_Heather 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those supports look insubstantial. A single thread rod with a captive ball bearing roller does not butter my toast. Taikstock or real steady rest is needed. Also the flip out arm is cool but holy flexion batman watch the instructor change heads you can see the lateral deflection. Very cool machine otherwise. The antifreeze pool is a nice touch

    • @SomeTechGuy666
      @SomeTechGuy666 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Elbert_Heather I guess the reason they don't use a tailstock is because they want the cutoff to fall away. If you used a tailstock, it would jam up once it is cut through. But those supports would be a pain to adjust all the time. And they won't work with square tubing either. Hmmm....

    Earth ground? Electric panel should be earth grounded in one place already. Check local electric codes about multiple earth grounds as current loops can occur.

    • @Elbert_Heather
      @Elbert_Heather 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. I dont believe you can have a seperate earth for your equipment ground for that reason. Not sure why they can't hit the building.

    • @tubeonline629
      @tubeonline629 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I belive that earth ground is only to prevent high frequency radio interference caused by the HF pilot start of the plasma torch.

    • @SegoMan

    Nice machine, but the angle cut on the pipe was questionable. The outside of the cut had an outside angle, and the inside had an angle to the inside. I was hoping to see the head tilt to accommodate for this. Still its an impressive machine.

    • @junang3

      Seemed that the outer part of the angle was cut like that to compensate for the 'welding' process/filling.

    • @FilipAus
      @FilipAus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep completely agree that those angles would make for a very poor weld fitup. The outside open edge is ok but the reverse is the same on the inside where you can't fill it with weld. Really a bandsaw would do a much better job.

    Good day
    I Work, assemble machines with the same structure, only they have a table between the rails. My problem has been to align the rails on each side, to ensure parallelism and perpendicularity, preventing the gantry from crossing and stopping. The rails are located at a distance of 3 meters from each other. Know some technical and effective alignment system. So far I do it empirically with a tensioned steel wire.

  • @foxwood67

    • @komoru
      @komoru 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "Hefty" price tag is relative. This is meant to be a workhorse and put money into your business pocket. If you have a business and the machine is making you more money per month than the lease on the machine, the machine is cheap and will pay for itself.

  • @melgross
    @melgross 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There are so many plasma table manufacturers out there, that it’s really hard to know what to get. This table is somewhat unusual, because large 4x8 tables normally have the gantry running along the long sides. I suppose that because of the speciality fittings such as the pipe lathe. I do have to say that the first chuck looks to have been through some hard times.

    • @Welddotcom
      @Welddotcom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the gantry running the opposite of most tables helps with loading the materials, additionally it rids on a rack and pinion system that is underneath the table sides as opposed to along the edge as is the case with most other tables. This actually helps to prevent damage when loading full sheets on to the table.

    Is that new "earth ground" bonded to the building utility ground? If not, why?

    • @johanndiedericks2877
      @johanndiedericks2877 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Power to the CNC is already bonded to the Building and ground to Earth.

    • @milspecfpv
      @milspecfpv 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Johann, that may be true, but I believe the old school method of providing a separate ground rod at each piece of equipment is responsible for the death of quite a high number of people. If the equipment is only bonded through the ground wire and something happens to that “safety”, then the backup should be this separate bonded system. If it is only bonded to the ground rod they showed us, the breaker will likely never trip resulting in energizing the entire piece of equipment.

    • @Spridle60
      @Spridle60 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@milspecfpv Electrically speaking, you cannot establish a new ground without connecting it to the Ground at the service. The wire size needs to be determined by the size of the ampacity of the service. You cannot derive an new grounding system, there can only be one grounding system.
      If your equipment specs a supplementary ground It has to be derived from the existing system or it has to be electrically connected and sized according to article 250 of the National Electric Code. AKA NEC. NFPA 75

Perfect example of not being able to trust any tool reviews by TH-camrs that were either given the product or loaned or heavily discounted and especially if the manufacturer sends one of their reps to help set the tool up and talk about it.
    Is it a neat machine?? Absolutely, but I don't think that it's anywhere close to being an industrial production machine. I'd say it'd be perfect in someone's garage that's maybe just a step above hobbyist. I do, however, love that scribe feature, but I could make a purpose built machine just for something like that. I'll go look at how much they're wanting for these. I got a feeling they're gonna demand your first born plus the heart of some small cute animal.

    That Angled Pipe Cutting is not what i would expect. This machine is definitely not good for Angled Pipe Cutting. It lacks third axis. Otherwise, it looks good for what it is made for... cutting stuff.

    i hhhhhhhhhaaaate it when companies hide the price on their webside. whats the point, they have to tell anyway. or is it a secret even when you buy it? you just give them your credit card

    It’d be nice if people in videos like this disclosed what the cost was. I called Lincoln to inquire about a 5x10 table, and received a quote for $80K. After doing some simple math, I quickly realized these companies make about 300% profit on their tables.

      It takes a lot more than simple math to calculate a company's profit margins.
