Good to hear the engine and electronics survived .. i was gonna ask about that. I just bought my first rc ...parkzone p51 and i love it im am def gonna be building somethin similar to what u had someday . it was a beautiful plane .. excellent job , and definalty rebuild
I stall this jet easily when I reduce power on banking turn, good thing I was way upwind and responded after I slightly dive. Although this jet is very intense to fly, shes very rewarding Hope you got your new airframe and back in the air safely.
Thanks for all your comments guys. That airplane was powered by a behotec JB180 which produces about 43lbs of thrust. It was a hard lesson learned but I was not discouraged. I've now had several successful flight on my big FEJ f16. Sorry I have no videos for you guys yet, but just have not had anyone to take a video for me yet. Hopefully soon. Anyways happy flying to you all.
I am a retired US Navy Air Traffic Controller. Sorry, but the Jolly Roger paint scheme does not belong to VFA-102 but VF-84 out of NAS Oceana Virginia Beach, VA. VFA-102 belongs to the Diamond Backs out of California. Nice plane, sorry about the crash. To many folks have got the Jolly Roger paint scheme and have the squadron incorrect. Tim T Navy Ret
It's a beautiful airplane, sorry to see that happened! The rate of climb is too high for the airspeed after 3:25, you lose momentum, airspeed and lift right after turn. You forgot to retract your gear which also reduces drag. I noticed that F-18 has very high stall speed and requires a lot of power and flaps on takeoff until you gain enough altitude and airspeed. I had extremely hard maiden flight of F-18...
VFA-103 is the new Jolly Rogers (F/A-18's). VF-84 has been decommissioned along with the F-14. They're still out of NAS Oceana. Too bad about the plane. That would've made me nauseous with that kind of a price tag.
Theirs only 3 possible explanations for this crash: 1 it needed a gyro, 2 it was not CG'd properly, 3 it stalled. Because I knew straight from the take-off that it was not gonna be a happy ending.
look at how it look off and pointed the nose up thats tail heavy, its always better nose heavy at least you can pull back which it a natural tendency to flare and land
board of investigation found that the pilot failed to remain adequate speed and exceeded critical AOA, which resulted in the departure from normal flight regime.
Yep it was a hard lesson learned, but I am glad to say that I'm almost finish building another F18 and I have paid very very close attention to the CofG setting this time. I'm confident that I will have success this time around so look out for the next video. Thanks guys for all your replies.
These F-18E or F S/M model rotate very hard and on take off you correct it ok . But you held a little too much up elevator and cause a flat spin. And you turbine seems to be under 30# of thurst.
Dude that sucks, it upsets me to see that kind of jet going in,, like the other chap said if anything or in doubt put it nose heavy,, at least you will get it back,,,, was the C of G stated there in the manual?
That must of hurt. Amazing looking kit. I've got to admire your ambition and deep pockets.

yep.. C of G was about 1 inch too tail heavy from what I'm understanding.. I'll be very cautious on the next one and make sure C of G is very safe..
I am only into edf jets right now and I want to cry for you, such a awesome looking jet but pick your head up and rebuild , you will get it right.

That was a beautiful build
Just watching that beautiful plane go down was painful.

Gutted for you mate, lovely plane.
That looked EXTREMELY tail heavy. You can definitely tell right after take off. shirishshah11, you're right, always check your CG

Beautiful build. Sorry it crashed. Here's to better luck with the next one.

Mate.... that's a real shame.
Darn good looking airframe.
Are you going to go for another one...?
Q:)

If I hit "Replay", maybe it won't crash again... (Fingers crossed)
SAD TO SEE
Yes, your CG is way off, to tail heavy. I fly YA F-18 Hornet and it flies so well with correct CG
took off too hard lost all air speed
it was to tail heavy
you held the elevator too long
This is arkangel06 I am down and on the run minus 1 they shot stackhouse!!
tail heavy you stalled it
That so totally sucks!! Better luck in the future. Look on the bright side - at least your hobby isn't sky diving!!
UNDERPOWERED!!!!!! it was sloutchy taking off and it just stalled and spun.
Estava fora de CG; mas o caso é que piloto é um pau da rato também !
Tail heavy ?
Haha someone teach this guy how to fly an rc plane.
STALL!!!!!!!!
