- Today we are adding coral to saltwater aquarium, MY VERY FIRST CORAL EVER!
This was a very intimidating task but like most things, once I got it done I wondered what the heck I was so worried about!
Super simple to do when prepared with some research and info on your specific coral of choice. We added Soft coral and some LPS coral. Zoanthids, Xenia, Green Star Polyps, Torch Coral, Duncan Coral, Favia Coral, and Cyphastria Coral!
Seems like a lot but not really, can't wait to get my next batch of coral from my bro Blaine over @TopShelfAquatics 😁💪

Nice selection of starter corals. Good thing that you isolated the gsp and Xenia as they’ll take over your whole tank. Pretty soon your side panels are going to be a green carpet. Lol. Zoas are a favorite of one as well as torches especially when you complete your own garden. Nice job.-Darren
Thank you bro! Any wait to add more 😁😁
Keep up the good work ! Happy to see more fresh water guys get into the salty side of fish keeping. Reef tanks are amazing and we will enjoy watching your reefing journey !
Thank you bro! I'm loving this side of the hobby! 😁
Wow Kev! This was so cool to see! I had no idea how you were planning to add all of those corals to the main tank. Fun to watch! Cool to see how when you took them out of the quarantine tank how fast they closed up. Then after placing them in the tank how they opened back up with amazing color! For me...I enjoyed that the most. Fun video to watch! Will be fun watching them grow! Happy to see your new guy's are doing great as well! Big thumbs 👍 up on this one! ❤❤❤😊
Thanks so much Lori! It was a very intimidating process but once I got going it felt like a breeze! I hope to make a saltwater tank keeper out of you some day! 😁😁
@KaveManAquatics Kev..thank you! I will get there! Appreciate all you do!❤
Hey kev, long time brother just wanted to say thanks for the discount from snake river. I've bought from them before and like you really love the quality of their fish. As a long time fish keeper i still get excited to get new fish. I know this has nothing to do with this coral video but i do love salt water. Back in the day i used to keep salt there's nothing more beautiful than keeping corals. Extremely expensive though but do love it. Take care my friend good health and happy fish keeping and god bless you and family. Peace!!
Big Kev on the Salty Side 💪🏿🫱🏾🫲🏿... Get ready to laugh 😂, cry 😭, and take out a second mortgage 😩😩. But bro it's so much fun!
I’ve done 2 out of 3 already 🤣🤣🤣
I love your excitement about this!😅
😁
That Xenia was happy in the QT tank! May need moved for some slower water though for sure.
Nice!
Very happy! Yea thats exactly what I was thinking 24 hours later
@@KaveManAquatics lol i was saying to my self i was like that looks like too much flow and then i kept watching and you said the same thing, i've noticed with most xenia ive seen in other peoples tanks it doesn't look like its getting alot of flow at all and youll see it pulse way more, not sure though, i deffinitely wanna pickup a xenia, but gotta cop that QT box first
It was good to put the GSP low because they prefer to shoot upwards towards the light and they grow downwards very slowly. They can handle high light as well by the way, if it goes well it will spread all the way to the top of the water
It becomes an addiction ! I hear from the way you talk about things that you def do your salty research! I did freshwater since 2009 and dabbled into salt back in 2017 and been on salt since .
Appreciate that bro. I have definitely dived deep into my research especially if I plan to help those convert to Saltwater. But of course, I've got tons more to learn 😁
Congrats Kev. Tank looks good so far.
Thank you brother! Can’t wait to see it mature! 😁💪
Awesome video congrats on your new coral doing so well!
If you ever struggle with glue and jagged rocks a bit of epoxy sandwiched between two blobs of glue is a great help.
Thank you bro, I had my epoxy at the ready but luckily didnt need to use any for these guys. That is a great tip though, thanks!
Interesting💯...🤔 I definitely learned alot in this video. An I want to say thank Kev for letting us in on this journey your exploring 💪🏾
Pleasure is all mine my bro! 😁💪
You could use a suction cup to see where something would look before gluing. Maybe even a small rock if the cup won't stay in a spot.
when you do you ephilla garden don't put your torch near hammer or frogspawns because they will sting each other but you can put hammer coral and frogspawn together
Yes that confirms my research too, Planning on right side of that rock scape to be Hammer and frogspawn and keep the torches to the left side. Hopefully thats enough separation. Appreciate the tips! 😁
That reef glue is the best… skimmer going to go crazy for a lil bit .. but way less than other glues nice selection Kevin I learned the hard way.. I’ll never use anything else
Thank you bro, I found the skimmer didnt change much during the process 😁
The Cyphastrea is a tricky one. They are easy but require a bit more care. Really love low light and good flow. I've had my issues with them but once they get going, they get going!
Im really hoping my guy pulls through! Thanks for the tips!
Looks great 👍
Thanks 👍
“That’s the plan” lmao. If that ain’t the truth. Awesome video. Reef-on brotha.
Thank you bro, glad you enjoyed it! 😁💪
Great work my man! 👏👌🙌
Thank you 🙌
thank for what you do for the community and always sharing. By the way I provided feedbacks before on your app and I can see you took those and implemented that. Thanks for listening to your audience.
Thank you for trying the app and contributing to its improvement! Thats exactly how we're planning to be the best app in the industry! 😁💪
Torch coral is by far my favorite. Movement, colors, absolutely beautiful. I just don't like the price 🤣. Wait until you see (if you haven't already) the dragon soul or NY Knicks Torch 😍
There’s a NY Knicks Torch!?!?!?!? 😱😱😱 I’m definitely getting one!!! 😁😁
@@KaveManAquatics most definitely! I think it's only known in nyc as ny Knicks Torch. Do a Google search...dark blue tentacles and orange tips. I have one in my tank. Lovely Torch!
I’ve got a few dragon souls as well as the NY knicks. I just picked up a holy grail as well. 🙌 love the flow and color they present
i love your rock scape, love that we both started salt water at the same time, i had a duncan i recently added but it died, pretty sure it was the medicine i put in the tank even though it says its safe for all marine life i doubt it, but definitely wanna try out the coral on the back part of the tank, excited to see all your corals grow.
Yea I wouldnt really trust any medication with coral. Thats why its so important to dip new coral and QT your new fish before adding them into your system.
Love your vids man
Thank you bro! 😁
@@KaveManAquatics do you have an email or discord for people who have questions? I have a lot currently!
How long was your qt period when you had an ich outbreak? Did you use medications?
30 days, yes I used Seachem Cupramine
Following your journey. You’re doing awesome! I keep mbuna cichlids, thinking about a new saltwater tank now 😅
The ride to the other side is exciting!!! 😁💪
Great video as always
Appreciate that 😁😁
Oh my god remember me lol ? Finally salt water !!!!
Told you it was just a matter of time! 😁💪
Hahaha you took a long time. Welcome to the best world of all ! Enjoy it
Let's go Kev!
😁
Is there a reason you did not place the two back corals on the glass to a frag rack to give them the "hanging" look?
Yea, I want them to encrust on the glass.
🔥🔥🔥
Hi Kev, Got your email notice about polishing with the Tidal 110. Thought it was great! One question . . . I always thought that the best thing to use for polishing was Diatomaceous Earth. Is it applicable in this case? Bob
That was used heavily back in the day, but I believe they found some links to cancer or something, don't quote me on that, and that's why its popularity decreased. If you're going to use that stuff wear a mask.
Just come out of keeping saltwater you got to love a corals 🪸 keep your Softly at the bottom Lps middle to top but the .most important is to always dip your corals before adding to your tank as there can come with some pest witch u don't want
Yes sir, totally agree. I have an entire video when I received the corals and how I dipped them 😁
not going to lie adding the clue to the plug then putting it in the tank through me for a loop, lol just was so much easy then how iv been doing it, and what frag tank is that
Glad it helped yo9u out bro, how were you doing it before? The frag tank is from my bro at pnw-customs! I've got a short video on the channel when I set it up. - th-cam.com/users/shortsISnURPTyGz8?feature=share
Now comes the itch to add 20 more corals and drop some $$$😂😂
Just did that this afternoon lol 3 more coral, new fish, and clean up crew 🤣🤣🤣
New to saltwater hobby. What do you clean your hands and arms with before putting them in the tank?
Regular soap and water, and just rinse very well.
@@KaveManAquatics appreciate that
How did you set up your light for your Coral?
Im using the AB+ template. Running them on a 10 hour window at 20% for now until the coral get more acclimated.
Hi Kev, great video as usual. If one of your corals are telling yo they are not happy, how do you go about repositioning them as they have been glued in ?
The glue is very brittle. It takes very little pressure to snap the glue and pull the coral right off. A ton easier than I initially thought myself. But I've already made 3 moves since the video. Its easy as pie to move them 😁
Thanks Kev that is good to know. Note to self, keeping the flat part of the frag keeps coral safe when repositioning. Excited to see the evolution of it all.
Could you PLEASE make a video differentiating ich and epistylis? I thought i had an ich outbreak and after treating with no results im back to square 1 and thinking maybe epistylis.
I definitely should. Epistylis is the opposite treatment of Ich. Dont raise temp, lower it. A good sign is epistylis will end up over the eyes while ich wont.
@@KaveManAquatics i really hope you decide to make a video on this. Ive lost a few fish in the last couple weeks during my ich treatment not exactly realizing what i was dealing with wasnt ich. Im almost positive im dealing with epistylis and currently awaiting my delivery of metroplex, kanaplex, focus, polyguard and garlic guard. (I know not to use all of this. Just came in a bundle)
Hi! I’m new with having a fish tank. We just got 5 tetra fish. Do you have any videos pertaining to them and maintaining
I highly suggest you check out my playlist for beginners. It'll be very helpful for you 😁 - th-cam.com/play/PLP5OXTIIDO8NYvhUHAmwAd54WFmS4d8er.html

What size tank is your saltwater tank? And where did you purchase it? Was gonna get a blue tang but found out they get up to 12 inches and I only have a 40 gallon breeder
My tank is 150G custom made. Yea 40G wont be enough for tangs.
by the way I am currently dealing with fish flashing a lot in my african cichlids tank and I do my regular 50 to 80% water change, parameters are consistent not fluctuating based on on my bio-load. not sure what it is, im treating now with paracleanse, any of your recommendations are most welcome. thanks
Sometimes it can be a change in temp or PH during your water changes, start there. Other than that look for signs of Ich or Epistylis on them and treat accordingly.
Whatever you do don’t try and rip the coral off of plug I broke my torch apart … like 400 down the drain
@@johnwilliams4806 I did my first Hammer the same way. Smdh
Buy some glove that go all the way up your arm… you’ll love them
The GSP and pulsating Xenia will take over the tank, but may work if you isolate. The pulsating xenia stretches itself until it detaches, and floats somewhere else in the tank and attaches so it spreads quickly.
Yup, thats why I started off isolating them. Im sure once they get on my nerves then they'll be out of the tank lol
@@KaveManAquatics pulsating xenia is still one of my favorites, super relaxing to watch it pulse. The GSP is definitely easier to isolate on a rock island.
I'm sure whatever you do will look good.
Thats why I like it too! Cant get enough of that pulsing! Watch the video and check out where I put the GSP...let me know what you think!
@@KaveManAquaticsI've seen a few GSP wall setups and they look great once grown out. I thought for sure when you said you were going to put it on the wall that you were going to put it on the overflow plastic.
Keep watching, I reserved that for something else 🤣
You got money I see… lol… must be nice .. you’ll going to be fine
Where can i get that T-shirt from..i need that tshirt please
Find everything at KaveManAquatics.com or my main Link - linkpop.com/kavemanaquatics
I give him a year or so and some of those other fresh water tanks will become salt :,D been there done that.
Have already been considering it 🙈🤷🏼♂️🤣
Having a lot of trouble getting into app. It’s happened before but I cannot get in at all since this morning. I’ve tried turning off my phone and turning it back on and still it doesn’t work. It’s just a white screen. Am I the only one having trouble? Thanks
No you’re not. There’s a code issue with the latest update that was pushed to the App Store. Deleting the app and reinstalling will fix the tank issue. All your data will still be there after logging in. We apologize for the inconvenience.
@@KaveManAquatics thank you! It worked.
Nice job….
Thanks!
Awesome cover choice for the video Let's Go
Thanks bro! Which one did you see? I’m running a test with 2 different covers 😁
That reef glue is the best… skimmer going to go crazy for a lil bit .. but way less than other glues nice selection Kevin I learned the hard way.. I’ll never use anything else
