I agree - those fugly brown shorts were awful. Poor Bardet was stuck with them at the peak of career. I wonder if things would have worked out differently without those awful bibs

Drab brown does seem like it could be a bit demotivating, but ...
The brown kit was recognizable, even from the helicopter cameras. Watching this video, I could only pick out Movistar's kit when the helicopter camera was shown. I would never wear the EF Education-Easy Post (did I get the name right?) pink kit, but if I were a sponsor, I would like that one can recognize it so easily. The new Decathlon- AG2R kit blends in with the rest of the peloton.

He's not Pogacar or Valverde, never has been.
He's got 1 peak per season and he had no reason to make it this race.
Last year he was even worse in the Tour of the Alps just before he almost won the Giro.
