Classic Mini Restoration
Here you will be able to follow my classic mini restoration from start to finish! It is an Austin Mini Mayfair 998cc registered in 1986. I bout the car with 2 months MOT and it was running although the slave cylinder had gone. My plans for the car are to restore it to my standards just like my Orange one if not even better... if thats possible. More videos on the way of the classic mini so be sure to subscribe and keep up to date.

Just started watching your videos. Good stuff. Q, i am changing door handles on 1988 Austin mini......do i need to take off all door mechanism or is there a way to just change door handle ?

Full door card will need to be removed, and door latch, you can leave the winder in place

Yo tom ... something i could really use a video on is how to attach the Circlip to the door release mech on the lock, its in such an awkward place and i have no idea how to get into it lol
Peter Kent hi Peter! Don't you worry it will be document soon! I'm currently trying to source the correct screws in order to fix the latches to the inside of the door.. proving difficult 😔

I guess what you say about rusty fixings, however you may like to look at Wurth, who are a german automotive suppliers, as they may have shorter screws etc.

No problem dude! and they are just plastic bungs so you can screw the door locks in place. Mini spares is the place :)
I have a set of mirrors for my mini the same as on your car. How are they fitted. Would appreciate a reply

You do realise you'll have to take out window winder mechanism to sound proof door skin plus I'd then wax oil it'll inside

I thought that cars after a certain date must have reflective number plates. This is a vague recollection from decades ago, so quite likely wrong.

Surely illegal number plate! Car was made after 1975. So you can't use black number plates and not historic vehicle. I'd be careful with that one. see DVLA for details.
but nice spray job, where did you get that done?
Will Jones they are show plates I have the legal ones as well and by some absolute time waster so I highly do not recommend him

Total Car Reviews we know what’s wrong now the last owner has placed a panel quarter of an inch back from where it should be. We can fix that
