- Hi there! Today I wanted to play with creating little environments within glasses lenses nestled into landscapes. First I had to find some inspiration from my collection of thrifted used books and magazine clippings I've collected over time. Once I found some images I was inspired by, I started laying pieces on top of each other until I found some images that worked well together!

Creating a handmade custom DIY surreal art collage is easy! I share my tips and techniques on how I create my analog collages as I cut out pictures and illustrations out by hand with a small pair of scissors and a craft knife. Finding inspiration from old books is one of the most fun steps to this process. These can come from used books, encyclopedias, magazines, vintage postcards, or anything else you can find lying around your house. I find most of my books and magazines from thrift stores, antique stores, flea markets, Craigslist, or even on the side of the road! Watch as I arrange my elements and try different ideas as I talk through my process to create my final design.
Collages made out of paper have a custom made feel that you can't get from a digital collage made in Photoshop. And, there is an added challenge of only being able to use materials that you have access to!

I love how these kind of have opposite color palettes- one is blues and greens on oranges and purples, and the other is the reverse. They’re a fun pair!
