Texas Southern fires their police chief because she didn’t want her officers running errands for the president of the university. HBCU’s have got problems across the board. There needs to be a forensic audit at Bethune Cookman and many others.

Ed Reed's behavior was over the top especially for someone who wasn't even hired, but hearing about the mess that's going on with this school and others has me rethinking hbcus as a viable option that's why I'm bringing up the conditions. If these conditions were known why wasn’t anything done about it..I know that area had went through 2 hurricanes.. but the health and sanitary ( or lack of ) conditions have been present there well before both of those storms caused damages to the school. People here saying that he’s too emotional.. well how and where is displayed adds it’s validity or not but what I do know if you have a non emotional football coach then I damn guarantee you that football team will certainly be a losing football team..because a team takes on the character of the coach..and btw if you don’t think real nice facilities or facilities that are in good and respectful conditions doesn’t affect recruitment of good players then you have no idea on how hard it is to recruit .. One of the reasons some of our universities find themselves in such a state of disrepair both figuratively and literally is because their leadership became complacent. This complacency has become entrenched in the university’s leadership culture. Their complacency makes them complicit or have a go along to get along mentality that does nothing to solve the multi-layered problems that exist. It appears that old guard complacency is alive and well at BCU, especially the board of trustees. It’ll take state court to fix the issues with those boys, good luck with that.

Bethune-Cookman is a very small private institution. It's hard to fund raise and garner donations for private institutions, particularly the Black ones. If you look at schools like FAMU and NC A&T, hell, even Clarke Atlanta, they don't really have those issues because they receive state funding (not all they're supposed to but a lot) and that funding makes a difference.

In all honesty, the school can choose who they want to hire, fire, and not give contracts. However, I've never known a university to have an AD that's also the head coach of another sport there. It sounds very amaetur. I noticed he spoke about Ed staying on campus longer than he thought, however, he stated Ed got 30+ recruits on campus in that time. I know national signing day is coming, so if Ed wanted a full recruiting class like other schools, it was beneficial for the football program for him to be there.

A Div 1 school with a AD dual hatted as the bball HC is giving small high school vibes. If your school doesn't have the funds to support a program, then don't field a program. After over 100 years, why doesn't BCU have a track for the track team? Why don't they have locker rooms? Why are they sharing helmets? The football team should be discontinued until they can financially support it.

McDonald's gave a lot of people their first job too, but does that mean they can't complain or express their upset about the quality standards of food or the disconnect and presence of a high level of customer service.
This guy has drank the kool-aid. Ed didn't trash the administration, but they all took it that way. So be it. At the end of the day, Ed wasn't lying, but they continue to focus on factors that don't move the needle to resolve the problem or fix the issues.
The student leaders said they complained too and were removed from their positions and sent cease and desist requests. These students have been asking for a meeting with the president since last August and haven't been contacted yet. The same president that claims he walks the campus everyday. The bottom line is, they see Ed as someone they won't be able to control or bend to their will and are using this opportunity to move on to the next. Why is there was trash that Ed even felt the need to clean up? They are on that campus everyday and it didn't dawn on them to keep it clean? Ed Reed is either a master manipulator (like Deion Sanders), or he has handlers who do the work, and he is the puppet.
When Reggie said, that he told Ed about the problems, there is no reason for Ed to act surprised. And I knew, that his story with "his office" was a complete exaggeration. And it also not surprises me, when Reggie said, that his conversation with Ed in private, and how he acted there was different, in comparison how Ed acted on social media.
Ed was either overburdened, when he saw what all has to be done, or he used this opportunity to prop himself up. And to show BCU in a bad light, so that he can be seen as a savior (by media, and black people), and people automatically ONLY believe his side of the story. (The same what Deion did, when he left to Colorado, and threw shade at JSU).
I believe that Ed had no issues with the administration, or Reggie at the beginning. But when he made the mistake to answer to the trolls on social media, and when he started to bad-mouth all HBCUs, and the BCU administration, including Reggie (although he informed him about all the problems, and was in favour of Ed to be the HC), and Reggie saw another side of Ed, that's when the table turned.
And when he had the conversation with Reggie, he knew that they will not hire him. That's when he (or his handlers) made the plot to talk with the students and parents, and he made sure to record this, so that it goes viral. Because only the outrage of the students and public would then safe his job, or to get the job as head coach. Because the administration and Reggie were done with him.
And that Deion then facetimed him, and was talking during the meeting, was no coincident. I'm sure, that this was planned with Deion or the handlers in co-operation with Deion.
Deion wanted that Ed Reed become the HC of JSU, when he left to Colorado. But AD Robinson chose TC Taylor as HC. This means, Deion couldn't install Ed Reed as HC at JSU. Deion needs a HBCU as "headquarter" from where he will start his pipeline to take HBCUs their best players away, to lure them to a PWI. Understand, that black players are the "resources" that generate money for the PWIs, the NFL, the agents, and the people who recruits the players, and also for every Corporate America company. They don't want, that these players (especially the good ones) choose HBCUs. Because it means, that the PWI, etc. will then not generate money off of the black players, and HBCUs would receive the money.
And another point is also, black students (especially black players) who go to a PWI are more likely detached from the black community. This means, they will not care about the problems in black communities, not invest, or work to improve the situations in black communities. They will enrich the white communities, and the black communities will stay poor. And the charity donations will not help, and for most of them it's just a tax write off. Some of them will learn when they are older, or no longer play in the NFL, etc. but then it's too late.
And Deion is helping his white bodies (Corporate America) to keep HBCUs poor and to enrich PWI, and other white institutions.
I just don't know, if Ed Reed is being used, or if he is part of it. Both of them, Deion and Ed Reed went to PWI and not to HBCUs. Their mindset is to enrich and help the white institution, because they were raised in these white institutions who taught them "white is good, and black is bad". And the money and prestige they get from the PWIs made them a useful tool to harm HBCUs (to further impoverish the black community).
I didn't forget the problems the students have. But I think, that the outrage and the situation from the students are used by Ed Reed and his handlers, to make it seem that Ed Reed is there for the students. I don't believe it. Especially, when Reggie said, that Ed Reed's behaviour was different in private, in comparison to his social media outrage. It's better to distinguish between the problems the students have with the administration, and the situation of Ed Reed.
And for those who are in favour of Ed Reed, ask Ed Reed, if Reggie told him about the problems. And also ask him, where is the footage of "his trash office".

1st all I heard was we wanted to use Ed Reed to help us like Deion did for JSU and that he should have been grateful because WE gave him a chance to be a coach here 🤔. Same as JSU but he called them out before it got too bad. No accountability on the schools part. Two hat Charlie is getting paid so he’s not worried about it. Their feelings were hurt and they are just hurting the kids with this one and themselves.

Damn the behavior you know this is bullshit. You have a Hall Of Famee Football player with resources. You need to call Ed Reed and you and him go in an office and have a meeting and work this shit out. NOW

Ed, this was not the place for you. Go on my brother find a better fit. And BCU your institution is in serious trouble & whomever you find I truly wish them the best because your problems are deep and won’t be solved without a cleaning of the entire administration.

I'm confused as to why yall aren't holding Ed Reed accountable for his actions? How can you lead young men and can't control your emotions? Bethune Cookman knew they had work to do and they didn't need Ed Reed to blast them all over the internet. You can't get offered a job, go to the office before your first official day and blast the boss and administration.

From scanning these comments, I see a lot of people who like to judge from their couches. Most of you never went to an HBCU and really do not know anything about HBCUs. You have all these opinions, but do you volunteer, do you teach on campus, do you donate money, do you donate your time to help with events, do you hire the students, etc.? I can go on and on. If you are not hands-on with an HBCU ...STFU! If you are a PWI graduate, which are schools of WS...STFU! PWI graduates push WS into the community. That is what you all were trained to do. All systems that ED was ever connected to (PWI/WS and after) is why he is so disconnected from his own people. Instead of making a difference, he chose to get on the megaphone to trash and attempt to drive down enrollment at an HBCU (WS). Without enrollment smaller, HBCUs cannot survive and thrive. It takes money for improvements and programs. PWI's train black people to follow. HBCU's flourish confident Black Professional Leaders.

      100% correct.
Some people don't get, when Reggie said, that Ed Reed behaved in private differently, and in his recordings on social media he is outraged. And Ed Reed let the people think, that he wasn't aware of the conditions, but Reggie said, that he informed him about the problems.
I believe, that Ed Reed is using the situation of the students, to shine a bad image on BCU. And at the same time a good image on himself, so that people (who don't see Ed Reed's and Deion's manipulative behaviour) only believe his side of the story.
I'm glad, that Reggie gave this interview.

Right now NSD is a week away. This breakdown happened last week. Of course he’s gonna be on campus he has to do he can recruit these kids. No kids sign to a school they’ve never walked on. As a parent I wouldn’t allow my kid to sign without a official visit.
This is sad as hell. I’m still against what Ed Reed did but the college (interim president & Theus) holds some of the blame as well. STEP IT UP FOR THESE KIDS! Sharing helmets? No locker rooms? Washing their own clothes?

So, you are saying Coach Reed is crazy? Why would he lie. He let you down, when the kids have Roaches, Rats and Mold. Cmon man! Reggie has a rep.I don't believe you Reggie.

I went to an HBCU 30 years ago and believe it or not things have gotten a whole lot better. The conditions were horrible, but I didn't know that until I went to visit my friend at Mississippi State. When you attend a HBCU you become like a family because everyone is so close knit. When Ed went to social media, he offended a lot of people including myself. He should have kept it in house. Deion didn't say anything until he was about to leave and that was because he had to defend himself. I hate that for the kids because I know Ed brought them hope but Bethune did the right thing. If he is complaining now, how do you think he was going to act when things got really bad?

Once again Reggie is showing why he never won ANYTHING on ANY LEVEL. He was a soft shoe loser when he was a Chicago Bull and still is. He will never champion anything that disturbs the statues quo. He is and has always been a good ole boy/pretty boy on the court and off. He's been there 2 years and hasn't accomplished anything in regards to improving the Campus, Student Enrollment, Student Security or Athletic Facilities. Which proves he was brought in for his face and that has been able to accomplish ANYTHING for BCU....

This entire situation is a cautionary tale on so many different fronts and has revealed how little so many people still understand about HBCUs, their noble and historic struggles, and the deep rooted anti-Blackness that keeps other institutions enriched at our expense. There are so many metaphors for the Black Experience at large. We are so quick to tear down, attack, and denigrate our own while operating with the utmost respect and deference for other institutions. I haven’t been this shocked at attacks on an HBCU in years. But I am standing with BCU always and forever.

Reggie used to come inside Best Buy in Las Cruces New Mexico when coaching New Mexico State and be like “go get you manager and let ‘em know Reggie is here, I need a better price on this item”. I used to shut his ass down!! Would tell him the shit was already on sale as much as it was gonna be and that he had more money than most people paying that sale price. Privilege at its finest!!
