That's living boys. I used to work on a commercial mackerel boat in Cornwall. We operated hand reels with 42 hooks per line, and when we were working a shoal, those lines often came up full. You didn't want to arm wrestle a mackerel fisherman towards the end of the season! All the best lads.

Once again, having fun, there’s nothing like catching mackerel. I always stop when i’ve got enough to eat my mother was 82 when I took her out on the rib and she caught a load of mackerel. I couldn’t stop her from fishing she wanted to feed the village😊

As soon as I read the title, I knew they were mackerel you were catching, they’re scavenger fish. When we were at anchor in Falmouth, we dropped a couple of lines over the side with about 5 or 6 hooks on them. As the lines were descending, we were pulling them back up straight away. You just need potatoes to make chips now. 😂
Well done lads👍 I sometimes use a Dexter wedge on the bottom of my Mackerel traces instead of a weight and have picked up a few big Bass and Pollock that are feeding on them. I also sometimes ledger a fillet when drifting sandbanks for Flatties.
