To be fair to Trebek, this week’s episodes of Jeopardy were taped in late July, long before Colbert grew his. Still a funny segment nonetheless!

"Taped?" I doubt it. But we really need to update our analog-to-digital dictionary. He flashed it? Thumbed it? "recorded" is both too long AND boring. Vidded it?
I could be wrong, but we haven't used tape this century AFAIK.

David Kempton - That’s a good point, re: our vocabulary. “Taped” is still pretty common even though none of it is actually on tape. ”Filmed” at first seems viable but film is also quite outdated. At the moment any of the hypothetical replacements you said seem a little ridiculous to say for various reasons, but given due time it’s entirely possible we have a word to replace “taped” soon. Only time will tell.
Why are they doing a poll on whether he should keep it then? Seems kinda weird to decide what he'll do with his beard a few months from now.

I think Stephen just wants to shave. He knows hes going to lose to the Canadian King of Trivia. So do the challenge and then he can shave without looking too wimpy. Alex is Canadian enough to let him keep it close so it won't look too bad.
Hopefully. The Colbeard looks a bit thin and could use some trimming on the cheeks.
Or he wants to mark the ocassion of losing the Colbeard. It did win an internet poll yet his wife is not a fan.

My so-called "father". He encouraged me to show emotions, to feel empathy, to be polite and understanding - he never even used my interest in martial arts to encourage me to beat the shit out of other people! Instead it was all "self-control this" and "philosophy that".

You may want to consider some vitamins for the beard growth. Maybe a biotin or fish-oil capsule. Maybe a multi-vitamin just to round out the mix.
Alternatively, pump up your spinach, bell pepper and tuna intake. All rich in beard growing nutrients. Though really, spinach, bell pepper and a tun steak would make a pretty good meal anyways.
