      Hi Sal, there was a time where I thought I would never be able to afford a St. Gaudens Double Eagle, and that was when it was almost 1k cheaper. I feel very blessed!

    Still haven't picked up pre 33 gold. I do enjoy seeing pre 33 gold and learning more about it here on your channel 👍👍

      You bet, Silver Struck - it was many years before I even felt comfortable at all. Knowledge and research led to comfortability for me. All the best, BSM

    Great Stuff! Were I a collector I would surely own more pre-33 gold! But you know me - I like beautiful coins, but not gonna pay the premiums. I do have a $10 gold indian that should get graded. Thanks for showing!

      @BigstackMcgee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I certainly know that about you ;) It was many years for me before I felt comfortable with the market for graded anything. Either way, the good news is that if you stack any sort of precious metal your ahead of like 98% of everyone else, right? Have a good one ss!

    Wasn’t it great buying these coins back then and how much have appreciated in value? I averaged $1350 for the ones I have. I love them. Especially my 1908 D motto. That was pricey then at $1450 back in 2015.

      We paid chump change by comparison. It's easy when hindsight is 20/20, but it was always a gut punch to shell out for these, but we definitely made good choices!

    Great video BSM. Nice coins. Glad I bought pre-1933 gold before the price increases of today.

      Holy cow, you're not kidding TB - who knows where premiums are heading too

      So great to hear, TBSS - you have seen those increase quite a bit in value then - well done!

    Nice gold, nice video. I just had 16 pine trees taken out of my backyard due to pine beetle infestation. The coins you just showed would have almost paid for the removal. No coins or guns for me for a while.

    • @BigstackMcgee
      @BigstackMcgee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! That much tree removal feels like it is right up there with having to fix your roof or replace your furnace imo - ouch, sorry to hear!

    sorry if you answered this in the video.. i'm just scanning trying to find the answer to this question... What is a reasonable premium to pay for pre-33 (let's say unslabbed AU) vs like a gold eagle or buffalo bullion coin? I'm finding that it's about an extra $100 for pre-33 coin which is slightly less weight than a troy oz... is this historically low or high? .. can you expect to recoup this money when selling to a LCS? thanks in advance... might be worth doing a video on this topic.

    It's a nice chunk of gold that's for sure. Getting coins graded seems to be a good move just not something I've got involved with at least at this stage.

    • @BigstackMcgee
      @BigstackMcgee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally get that - I went many years before I even glanced twice at graded coins. It took quite a bit of research before I felt comfortable.
