    Nice video! Made a cameo appearance as you were heading in. Glanced through my videos and think that is the only time we were ever near on track.

    love how we have some vtwins on the track. I have a zx10r and my friend has a sv1000, power delivery in and out of corners gave me goosebumps. love the sound too

    it should be oposite, you have less kilos, beter handling, les torquve & almost same hp. He is biger than you and he did not keep sv in optimal rpm??

    • @Track848
      @Track848  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I know, Sinisa--a lot of variables at play. Mainly it comes down to rider skill; Justin #trackbikez has moved on to a Kawasaki ZX-6R and we need to get back on this track to see who's the fastest now!

    Hey Track848, question for you, what sort of camera set up do you have and do you have any rigging up to stabilize it on the rear of your bike?
    Cheers,
    Kururu

    • @Track848
      @Track848  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kururu9360 Hi there Kururu; I use one older GoPro Hero and two that I purchased earlier this year. I have no special rigging: Suction cup mounts for the camera on the tank and the one hanging off of the right fairing. For the rear, I use a simple adhesive mount placed directly to the fairing. I tether all cameras with soft, white cotton string--it's easy to tie and will not cause any damage to the paint. In the video you can get a glimpse of the rear mounted camera at 5:05. Hope this helps!

    are these both on standard suspension set ups? great vid btw love it.

    • @Track848
      @Track848  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Dan, both bikes were using stock forks and rear shocks in this video; The only non-standard equipment is an aftermarket adjustable ride height linkage on my 848. I also use a higher Cst oil in my forks (23 Cst vs. 22 Cst oil that came stock). I am considering a suspension upgrade next year.

    Just a question...What's that GPR bolt on your streer and what is it for?

    • @Track848
      @Track848  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's my steering damper--a.k.a. stabilizer. It helps keep tankslappers from turning in to full-on crashes; here's the best way to show you: th-cam.com/video/zol-CSKSFqs/w-d-xo.html ... without it, that incident most likely would have resulted in a 'high-side' crash. Many track day organizations require one when you make it into the intermediate or advance riding levels; it is a requirement for racers, as well.

    You kinda sound like Jeffrey Dahmer.

    • @Track848
      @Track848  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha, LOL... I'm sure I've seen him on one of those true crime shows, but I can not remember his voice... I wonder if he rode motorcycles?

    • @flatlineoptimism2600
      @flatlineoptimism2600 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you thought that was funny. I was actually thinking beforehand maybe I shouldn't write that. But no, I don't think he did. Dahmer was a real sick puppy. He ruined a lot of families. Anyway aside from that, would you recommend the SV1000S? I have an SFV 650 and love it but I want another bike.

    • @Track848
      @Track848  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flatlineoptimism2600 I agree, Dahmer was a sick one! Back to motorcycles: I would absolutely recommend the SV1000S if you're looking for another bike. In addition to my Ducati 848 I also have an SV650S, and I absolutely love it. The power delivery is similar to my Ducati (both are twins), and I doubt there are many bikes as dependable. The SV1000S would be an excellent choice!

      @@Track848 Very cool. Thanks for the feedback. My SFV 650 really is an SV 650. It was just a different style they came out with in 09. It really is a great bike. The 2 cylinder torque and smoothness to it is never ending fun. But I've seen nice deals on those 1000cc SVs. And for 2800 to 3300 dollars that's something I really might just do. I figure it to basically be the bike I got but fully faired and an extra 35bhp. Thanks again brotha. Ride safe!

    Comparing 134 horses to 116 ...... quite odd the Ducati didn't do it better.

    • @Track848
      @Track848  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      HP is important, but on the track rider skill and capability are equally (if not more) important. As I mentioned at the 0:50 mark in the video, Justin (the SV rider), is better than me (the 848 rider) through the technical sections of this track and he is a better 'late-braker.' He couldn't catch me on the straights, though 😀. I have seen good riders on the smaller SV650 beat the crap out of riders with less skill on litre bikes on the track. There's an example of such a rider in the first several laps of this video that I made at another track: th-cam.com/video/QbEb71tUgMc/w-d-xo.html. Riders with 'average' skills on 4-cylinder 600s, 750s and 1000s or other bigger twins would not be able to keep up with him on a race track. Finally, as a sidenote, the 134 number is claimed hp from the factory, the stock hp number for the 2009 848 is closer to 120... mine is around 122-124 hp at the rear wheel with aftermaket slip-ons. Thanks for viewing and commenting!
