    Glad to see you back again. Your previous videos had been super inspiring to me when I quit drinking. Your reasons for stopping felt really close to mine and struck a chord. Now I'm nearly 2.5yrs without a drink, got into running at the start of last year (just did a 12k cross country this morning) and basically pulled my life out the crapper slowly but surely. You shared your own experiences and helped at least one person out by doing so. Thankyou 💪

    Wheeey! Glad you followed up the last one. I'm one of the dudes you inspired to start my sober journey a few years back (got it to stick this year, 155 days and running loads) so really happy to see you back.
    Good luck on the training, dude!
    Ultras are a future aspiration of mine, now. No idea where that come from!

      That's great to hear Daniel. I can't imagine life without the running now so longer distances seem the most logical thing to do.
      Keep me up to date with your training bud.

      @@BenjaminLeeWright Getting through the first few months of running was they key for me, once I was lighter and stronger it turned in to a pleasure and helped me make right decisions in other areas of my life.
      Bolsters the mental toughness.
      Good luck with the training!

    Love your mentality. Not Marathon Marathons setting big goals, love it!
    my next goal is to do a 20min 5k by the end of the year currently on 23min so hopefully i can do it but really struggling to find those extra 3mins and then maybe look into the half marathon next year

    • @BenjaminLeeWright
      @BenjaminLeeWright  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers bro and good on ya for having a solid goal yourself. Faster 5k is on my to do list as well. I'm intending on doing a video about that soon.

    Would be cool to see another sobriety video! I remember you saying a few years ago you were gonna do a video about the darker last days of you drinking, and what led you to quit etc

    1:44: Looking forward to learning more about HZ training
    6:21: I’ve also noticed my physical limitations are mental. I only walk. My goal is 10k sets daily, but I hit around 5k steps on my good days. Busy work days, I hit around 3k. Anyway, as I am walking I’ve started noticing the mental “chatter”. I tell myself I’ll do a shorter walk and head back home. This is at the start of my walk. But I noticed my legs are feel great. It’s literally all in my head. I’m not certain why I do this to myself.
    9:36: Please also share which electrolytes you like

    • @BenjaminLeeWright
      @BenjaminLeeWright  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Should have a video regarding HZ training in a few weeks.
      Definitely all in the mind. It's crazy how many limitations we put on ourselves. It is all down to us at the end of the day.
      I use an electrolyte tablet called phizz. It also has A-Z vitamins and I find it really helps to hydrate me.

    Awesome Ben....I predict after you do a road marathon and transition to trails/ultras you will be hooked. I'm 13 days away from a trail marathon....they are way kinder to your body than a road marathon...More variation in terrain!

    Running content is my jam. Hope you have more luck getting views on it than I have so far 😄
    Marathon training and then an ultra, that's awesome. I'm skipping the marathon and going straight for my first 50k, next May.
    How are you finding the Salomon vest? I keep looking at their Adv Skin 12 but it's a lot of money... reckon I'll go for it though 👍🏻🏃‍♂️

    • @BenjaminLeeWright
      @BenjaminLeeWright  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Doubt I'll get many views but it's where my head's at right now so it's best to stick with that.
      Fair play on going for the ultra. I may well do the same. I haven't got an official marathon in mind. I just want to do the distance. Will move on to an ultra as soon as I can.
      Love the Salomon vest. Very comfortable to wear. I got the Active Skin 4. Was £60 so not too bad.

    find intermittent fasting very difficult. i like to eat i guess. I lost a lot of weight due to illness so i dont think its something i should be doing.

    Another great video. I managed a good 7 miles on Sunday, so should hopefully be in decent shape for the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k on 23rd October. The Leeds Half Marathon is in May, so contemplating signing up for that. Hopefully that's enough time to get myself up to that kind of distance without doing myself an injury!

    Nice to see you back Ben, look forward to more videos. Interested in the intermittent fasting. I just bought a squat rack for the pull up bar, and some rings to start some body weight training, at 52 it'll be a slow start, making sure I have proper form, and try not to injure myself. I do walk a hell of a lot, occasionally I will pop a run, but less so these days, coz I just plain don't enjoy it. I have been finding the callisthenics gives me a fair bit of the cardio hit i need, with the walking and occasionally run keeping the weight off ;)

    • @BenjaminLeeWright

      Got on ya. I firmly believe that the best exercise is the one you enjoy. I fell in love with running. Never would have believed that a few years back.

      I can cycle, which is good but at 58 motivation is harder than the exercise. I get most of my exercise from grafting. I spent 4 hrs hand digging a footing on Thursday then mixed a tonne of concrete. Exercise is a lot easier when you’re being paid
