    I agree. But if you look more closely they seem to embody the aspects of all the greatest warrior cultures of history. They are clan based like Celts, semi-nomadic like Mongols, trained and organized like Spartans, as adaptive as the Roman Legion and and always adopting outsiders into their culture like the melting pot of America. If the Mandalorians were real, they'd be the most dangerous group of people the world has ever seen.

      Don’t forget the honour of the Japanese and ridiculously large armies and technological terrors of the Chinese warrior cultures. It has been stated many time that Mandalorians have a sense of honour and could always field huge armies with revolutionary technology.
      The Mandalorians were made to represent just a pure, warrior culture of any species or background. It’s cultural tenants are found in every warrior cultures history on Earth, as if they all became one.
      You are right when saying if they were real, they’d be incredibly dangerous. They’ve taken the best from every warrior culture. Absolutely incredible

      The reason most mandalorians are humans is only because humans are the most common race in the Star Wars galaxy. I like that the mandalorian's are probably the least racist people in Star Wars.
      They seems to be a mix of most of the well known warrior cultures from our world such as Celts, Spartans ,Romans etc but what those cultures had in common is that they believe women were not meant to fight or be involved in more serious political or military affairs.
      But that really was just a product of its time, so you can't put too much blame on them.
      But for the mandalorian the concept of gender and race is virtually meaningless women are expected to be just as strong as men if not stronger and as for race, anyone who follows the code, speaks the language and obeys the laws is a mandalorian

      Shit. Yeah, even the United States, Russia or China would greatly fear them. Since we wouldn't have any Jedi, they would decimate all of the world's super powers like they were nothing. As for Russia, like Nepolan and Hitler, the Mandalorains may some difficulty crossing the country's hellish winter unless they learn to adapt to it, in fact, they try to study their enemies before the make an attack. Unfortunately, the Russian military is known to destroy their own it's ideal or any other piece of valuable information, so the Mandalorians couldn't use it themselves. It would a bloody fight between the two warring factions.

      Yeah to bad though mandalorians Ally themselves all to often with the empire and it usually ends with them being screwed over but with the republic it kind of ends well for them the only two instances that I know of where they suffered for it was in the aftermath of the Vong war because stupid politics and during the sith-imperial war when a traitor was in their midst

      Tell that to Revan. He practically almost annihilated them. Down to the point where the Mandalorians needed Jedi to help them rebuild. And tell the same to Dooku, who also nearly annihilated all Mandalorians as well. If the Republic wasn't so tolerant, if rich people in the galaxy weren't in so much need of Mandalorian muscle for their operations, the Mandalorians would have been wiped out.

      @@HolyknightVader999 Revan defeated the Neo-Crusader army, but he didn't defeat the concept of a Mandalorian. A concept which can easily spread like wildfire. @@zellaeella2 Wrong again. Revan and the Exile had to work hard to rebuild the Mandalorians. Also, the Mandalorians on Mandalore were civilians, not military, hence why some foreign Duchess was able to persuade them to be pacifists. +Alex G237 Individual supreme warriors, sure. As a faction they suck and we can only hope that great other warriors of the future incorporate their warrior spirit, because the warrior faction itself was too flawed to survive. @@SwobyJ 3 years late, but the Mandalorians most definitely do not suck. If not for Revan's intervention, they would have conquered the galaxy. If not for the Smugglers' intervention, they would have crippled the Republic. If not for the newer decisions of past Mandalores, the Neo-Crusader way would have remained to endanger the galaxy again and again.

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zellaeella2 You're arguing how they sucked. One person stopped them. The smugglers intervened. They make bad decisions.
      They're great fighters, perhaps the best of the galaxy. They don't do a lot more. Aspects of them try to and there's always room in writing to make them capable of more, but pure conquerors always overextend.

    • @zellaeella2
      @zellaeella2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SwobyJ Agree to disagree on that one. Their ideology - religion, even - revolves around warfare. It's essentially who they are. But that doesn't quite make them less than human. They have traditional dances, drinking chants, marriages, funerals, and all manner of celebrations. A number of the Mandalorian population fill regular, everyday roles like doctors and farmers but are always prepared for conflict should it arise. I'd say what diversifies them most is that unlike the Jedi or Sith, they don't limit themselves to one aspect of our emotions like moral and immoral. They can choose to love and to hate, and to kill and to show mercy. Mandalorians are arguably one of the most complex concepts in Star Wars literature.

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zellaeella2 I'm not saying they're less than human. To specify, their culture sucks in terms of maintaining high power levels. Meta, this can be explained in terms of the Star Wars IP never fully giving non-Force users their due, but internally, this has to do with their largely agreed insistence to over-extend and not cover their asses politically, strategically, socially, etc. They're supreme warriors, and surprise many in how competent (as they are humans) they are in other ways - but there's been zero sign that they've been capable of maintaining a strong galactic political place. They don't really win their wars, they only keep making sure to definitively win their battles. Warriors have to evolve to broader defined leaders or they inevitably get replaced by internal or external powers that will do so for them - you cannot wage an eternal war, yet I've seen nothing in Mandalorian cultural emphasis that reminds them of this.
      In other words, we get our space operatic badasses with times of enjoyable depth when writers want to showcase it, but we have never seen a time (YET, at least) where Mandalorians can actually deserve an actual mantle of power over the galaxy. Perhaps if it was already in utter ruins, they'd be sure to be the chief warlords to defer to, but that's it. The IP owners can agree to a future story where they can be more though, because as you said, they're complex (or at least selectively in stories, potentially complex). And don't act like a people's treatment to their traditions and religions can't or don't evolve.

    My only questions are who was the successor to Mandalore the Reclaimer (Canderous Ordo), and how the crap did he screw up rebuilding the Mandalorian clans when Canderous had done so much of the work for him? I mean the Mandalorains under Canderous were scattered, fractured, and few but still managed to invade a sith destroyer and save an entire planet and a Republic fleet.

    • @RenegadeElite101
      @RenegadeElite101 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** I was always under the impression that when a Mand'alor died a new one was chosen instantly. I believe Canderous even stated once that had Revan not taken Mand'alor's helmet a new Mand'alor would have been chosen within hours after Revan defeated the last one. I also assumed that Canderous would have put new rules, or perhaps even named a successor since he had seen ,and endlessly complained, about how tradition almost destroyed his entire people.

      It's possible that, without a cause to unite the clans, the Mandalorians split up by themselves. They are not a standing army - they are, first and foremost, a colourful bunch of independant clans that come together under the guidance of a Mandalore and otherwise do their own thing.
      They are not like the Clone Army, not infantries and batallions - they can be, but they're not by default.
      I suspect that, as the clans realised the Reclaimer had no war for them to fight, no cause to hold them together, more and more split off from him. PLenty of Mandalorians aren't even part of a clan, more than a few are independant bounty hunters and mercenaries.

      Originally, yes. Indiginous to Coruscant, a planet they shared with the Zhell. As General Dearuun put it: "When the dawn came, the Zhell awakened and saw the Taungs upon the high place and were afraid, for the morning light caught the glint of helms and weapons and created phantom warriors, made from dazzle and distance. But the cleverest of them were not deceived."
      After the Taungs were defeated by the Zhell, after the end of the war, they left Coruscant behind, shed the notions of race, and evolved into the Mandalorians of the Great Galactic War.

    - Went back to working for the Sith, despite Canderous being explicitly told by Revan to not do that again
    - Lost Mandalore's helmet _again_ and apparently never found it
    - Stopped caring about the helmet altogether
    - Completely forgot about Mandalore the Preserver and how he basically saved the Mandalorians from near-extinction (after being used as pawns by the Sith)

      There was once a bunch of (rebelious) Jedi who became Mandalorians, calling themselves Mandalorian Knights - wearing their armour and wielding lightsabers. But I would imagine the moment you left the Jedi Oder, you would no longer be recognized as as a Jedi. And yes, they were bad ass!

      In the new canon there was a Mandalorian accepted into the Jedi Order named Tar Vizla. He made that cool Darksaber we've seen in TCW and Rebels.
      I'd love to see a story focused on that guy.
