I just recently purchased these molding’s and the one came in really bent like the shape of a U, do you think this would be a problem? I can try to re order a new one and this one back that I got

What is the purpose of the roof trim?
To channel water.
I have water leaking onto my floor board by the pedals , and in the trunk of my car. Could the roof trim have anything to do with that

I believe it's to hide the join of manufacture, between the roof panel and the side panels of the vehicle. There's a weld seam between those two and that molding hides that nicely :)
