    Qualley is not a big name, nor has she become one. I mean, shes in some stuff, but shes like c-list at best.
    However the ending to this game, as someone who's father died before I was 10, hit home hard. Made me cry a bit. I spent days thinking about it. If for nothing else, Kojima has the ability to tell stories that do that to people and its an amazing talent.

    Excellent video. I agree with every point you made. The only real failure I see with the game is how it was marketed. The main reason Death Stranding is disliked is because it wasn't what people were expecting. Most people thought they were getting a horror/stealth/action hybrid of some sort, but instead received a courier simulator. The better approach in the build up phase would have been to emphasize the traversal and logistics mechanics, while holding back the story and setting. That way players would go in expecting a grounded experience and be pleasently surprised by the esoteric narrative and general wierdness of the game.

    I watched so many death standing videos and yours was still so entertaining and fun to watch. You even told me so many things i haven't heard before. Also your voice is very nice

    I'm only a couple minutes in, but I am SO excited to hear you talk about your personal experience with this game. Talking about games, especially this one, in an objective way is so disingenuous, and I loathe when reviewers feel the need to remove themselves from their own review. I don't think you do that in any of your other reviews, but it is certainly brave to be authentic about oneself in any way, so here's to you!
    (The following is written after watching the video in full)
    Skipping cutscenes is what I did on my second playthrough as well, the difference for me though was that I immediately played the game again because I wanted to try the beginning missions with my updated knowledge of movement from the end. In a pretty funny twist of fate, my roommate at the time wanted to see the story of the game so I started a third playthrough about 2 weeks after my first one ended. That second playthrough having had no cutscenes really did give me, what I thought up until now, a unique experience.
    In regards to the strand system, I have So Many memories of myself with sweating palms, in game and real life, and seeing a bike on the horizon just ahead. Exclaiming "Oh thank god!" and following it up with a like-mash had to be one of my favorite things on the game, almost immediately. I loved hearing the different sounds from other players too, "keep on keeping on!" being my favorite of all. Those little sounds and the intrinsic happiness of being able to finish a delivery made me love the strand/like system. I'm glad to hear you came around on it on the second playthrough!
    Your bit on Kojima's authenticity is so spot, I'm so over hearing people talk about him being pretentious just because he's eccentric.
    Great video! I'm curious, when did you build your first highway? I built mine as soon as I possibly could because I thought it was such a novel idea. I went on to make a complete highway system across the entire map.
    Near the end you mention that this game is "a hit", I totally agree, but what exactly does that mean to you? For me, I call Death Stranding a "Forever Game", meaning that it is something that you can play at any time and still take something away from it, regardless of the amount of time one has spent inside it. I have a couple other Forever Games in my head, so I guess what I'm wondering if you find it to be such an essential game to the medium.

      I built the east/southeast portion if the highway as soon as possible because I knew the preppers I wanted to rank up the soonest are all around there.
      I also think Death Stranding is a good "forever game." I can definitely see myself returning to it every four years or so and enjoying the vibes. But I also believe that, as time goes on, it will go down as something special and remembered as such.

      @@GetheS because i've seen the same thing over and over for years and years. I have no way of knowing if you're lying, but I'm thinking you're probably telling the truth about your age based on the 0-100 expression because zoomers don't know expressions. i thought the game performed sluggishly and i don't care for tedium with all the excessive UI. Kojima created an appealing and extraordinary setting for the player to mill around in. I just didn't buy it. If it had been like an action game that incorporated the materials gathering that goes towards building your base as seen in MGS5 -- but better and more practical -- it would've been endearing. idk. you weren't bored by it??

    I loved it and have two full playthroughs. My main issue was with the MULEs... they have no dialogue or personality... like they are robots or something. Idk ... maybe that was intentional and the point.

    I'd recommend a new title, since you really only touched on the connections thing for like 10 minutes of the video. Anyway, I'm still playing endgame content on my first playthrough and already planning a 2nd later this year. Gonna do roadless offline. Going to be interesting to see everything without cluttered structures and signs everywhere

    Dunkey put it pretty succinctly; all you really do is hold the triggers and that’s essentially it. Near about everything else is about circumventing the concept rather than exploring it. I’d argue Tears of the Kingdom made the act of general travel far more engaging.
