I haven’t seen the show yet (planning to see it some point this weekend) but I’m assuming they kept a lot of the very silly and zany moments in Yakuza out of the show to focus on the main narrative. I agree that the silliness is definitely part of the charm of the series, but it’s nice to see them take its relatively dark crime drama and keep it as such. Then again, I haven’t seen the show and therefore be talking out of my rear.

Yakuza is a game about life , with the good and the bad, the seriousness and the sillyness of it. Watching kiryu smiling as he is winning a tournament of pocket racing is as much endearing ( and as much important ) as watching all the drama of his story unfolding.

Kiryu fighting mooks then cuts to him in the karaoke room singing Baka Mitai then fight scene again with the music still playing in the background and changing back to him singing karaoke from time to time. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad show, they just chose the worst possible option, not being faithful to the original work. Moving away from the original story, not respecting the characters we love and not capturing the "essence" of Yakuza make it a very difficult show to watch as a fan of the saga. As a crime drama series they do it very well, the actors are great but it's not Yakuza... it's not what we all already know and love. I hope that at least the last chapters are good, thank you Sega for respecting the fans.
Everyone kept mentioning his Role as Shinosuke/Kamen Rider Drive.. so im gonna mention his other role instead that i knew wince 2018. He made cameo as Pokemon Trainer Red, in Detective Pikachu Movie & voiced dub Japanese for Tim Goodman, on same movie as well.
Now they just need to have John do the bar scene while looking at a picture of a dog. While Majima dances around on roller skates singing Cinderella with his posse of backup dancers.
The fact that they were aware enough to actually make this but not put it in the show itself is so unfortunate

龍が如くシリーズをパート１からほぼ全てやり、色んな実写ドラマと映画も見て今回のこれもきっちりと見たファンから一言。
他のコメントでもありましたが俳優女優さん達はほんと一生懸命言われるがままに頑張ってくれたと思いますが
正直全く別物の龍が如くになり過ぎててガッカリした意見もあります。アナザーストーリーとして見るのも良いんだけど
確かにドラマ滅茶苦茶にしておいてこういうゲーム要素の部分だけ入れてくるっていうのはどうなん？っていう意見も分かります。
折角竹内君のような高身長とイケメンと演技力もそこそこ良い人に主役をやらせたのなら本当の物語の龍が如くを制作して欲しかったですね。
以前に北村一輝さんがゲーム通りの映画版を作ってたと思います。エンディングも当時の曲と同じく12月17日を使ってそこそこ良い作品でした。
映画版だからかなりカット多過ぎてしんどい面もあったけどあれがやっぱり一番良かったはず。あの時以上の作品を竹内君でも少し期待はしたけど
まぁ～滅茶苦茶にしやがって本当良い迷惑です。でも良い面もあったからそれはそれで。しかし次回作何か同じような龍が如くで制作する時は
その時はちゃんとしっかりと本当の物語のもので制作して欲しいです。次はそろそろ大河とか秋山とか出して欲しいですね～。
蒼天掘の物語も作って欲しい。その時はきっちりゲームに従って作って下さい。てかそれ以降ぐらいから色んな大御所の俳優さん達が
