Great work Lawrence. It's always nice to see someone being humble about the fact they know next to sod all about things but prepared to have a go, using common sense along the way! It's a cracking transformation, all credit to you. The "appliance" as fire services call them, is coming along nicely now. Dennis engines really bring back my childhood. Keep up the good work! I'll leave you with this fact... 90% of UK fire and rescue services voted the Dennis Rapier and Sabre as the best appliances ever built.
@@nickdennis7467 Like is there a website/blog post I could grab that from? As much as I'm sure that's correct (and hope it is because up the Dennis) it's frowned upon for us to not source info
I have only drove the Dennis sabres I’ve not drove the rapier I know they are basically based on similar builds to each other one is a short wheel based and the other is a longer wheelbase and the rapier is lower down which gives it better road handling but both appliances are built from scratch to be a fire appliance unlike the scania starts off as a lorry but then goes off to a coach builder who then convert it in to a fire appliance but I would have a Dennis any day it’s all just basic as a fire appliance should be
Only found your channel last night TH-cam recommended the M6 Toll video, Look at the difference after the T-Cut and Polish. Keep up the good work Lawrence. new subscriber aswell.
I too own a highly faded fire truck (1977 Mercedes T2 based) you made this look so easy that I’m going to give it a go 👌 The voice over approach the commentary was great btw!
Hello mate, top tip from a detailer. Use g3 cutting compound and a wet sponge on the polishing machine, ( the red foam pad you were using ) keep it wet as you can burn the paint and keep it moving. Yes it's a messy process but trust me the results will blow your mind. once the whole vehicle is so called mopped, was the remaining residue off and dry the panels off. Use a good quality wax and use the fluffy pad on the machine and buff it. A good wax to use is fusso king of gloss. It's not cheap but it gives amazing results.
Wow! Well worth the effort, Lawrence! Are you doing the cab and rear body roof as well? Red is bugger of a colour for fading in UV light, so the more layers of polish you out on, the longer that lovely shine will last. Spot-on!
Looks good as brand new with the paint work and jet washed. The only two things i would recommend is to replace the mounted side blue lights on the above the lockers with proper blue lighting as it is slight seen as black & the other thing i would say if possible if i could suggest replacing the blues from strobes to LED as it stands out better and comes with benefits.
Looks amazing mate, reminds me of my dad telling stories about driver of the year for London fire brigade back in the day - he was caught painting the wheel nuts late one night he loved the machine that much..... after winning driver of the year he drove out the brand new shutter doors before they had fully opened one day and caused 1000s worth of damage :D
Love the videos you’ve done on this appliance, which I think was based at Abbott’s Bromley for some of its time on the run. It’s nice to see it being looked after.. Keep up the good work Lawrence..
Nice work 😀. I have some proper paint renovater and polish that you can use with the machine polisher that is top notch that I can send you down if you fancy using that next time you're going to do it.
Older red vehicles are best to buy, because the sun fades red quickest so they look shabby, so you can get them cheaper, do what your doing here and they look grand again, I saw I guy t-cut (mop ?) a fire engine at a 4x4 place on the Birmingham new road not long back and it looked fantastic afterwards, I think he was going to use it to travel abroad in
greatings from lancashire nice transformation when u use a cutting compound at begining u needed to keep the pad wet keep up the good job wish i was there to help you
Some people collect scale model fire engines...you...well...you dont bugger about...just get the real thing! Its a 1:1 scale model...lol...all 13 tons (load weight) of it!😎😆💨😜
The music on repeat was being on HOLD on the phone lol.. When buffing you should have a spray bottle of water. This help to stop the biffing over heating and eating the paint work.. Also take care on edges as it very easy to over buff and end up with the primer layer showing. But its probably helped that its been repainted before, so the paint is thicker... The Pink faded areas will need polishing more often.. Try and find a good polish that will feed the paint.. But its looking a million dollars...... :)
Do you know why it has white stripes on the front and yellow on the sides? Also, why has it got a towing pin on the front bumper ~ what would that be used for?
You probably know by now, but the T-Cut should have gone on first. I should be the most aggressive compound you use in this section. T-Cut, Polish, Wax. ;) You also need to allow the chemicals in both the T-Cut and Polish to work, it should be white dry, but not dry powder. ;)
Coaster World well noticed! I filmed this a few weeks back and was trying to fix the audio hence why the stickers video came first when really was after
i wouldn't recommend T-Cut, god awful stuff, Autoglym paint renovator is a similar price range item and far superior. dont pre apply to several panels, 1 panel at a time and make sure the machine pad is slightly damp, then protect your hard work with polish after.
I thought the music was awesome.. I guess beauty is i the ear of the beholder (or something like that) Nothing like a good but of the old Ludwig Van to sharpen you up.. ;)

Christopher Woodger I’ll second you on that I’ve had the pleasure of driving one of them bad boys and they are much better than the Scania
Have you got a source on the Dennis Rapier/Sabre vote? Would like to include that in my lessons
Connor as in source what is it you are after information on both vehicles

Me and my 2 year old son love watching these episodes keep up the brilliant work
Great job, it really brings back the nice red color. Greating from the Netherlands.
GordonR134 hello and welcome to the channel. Needs a few more buffs to really get it looking good

Spot-on!
Darren Hillman yes i want to spend a lot more time on the paintwork including the roof to ensure the colour stays around for longer
As always love your videos. Cracking guy and great content.
Luke B****** many thanks for the kind words

Im afraid you're still too quiet mate

Abbots Bromley as in Rugeley?
Lovely fire truck 🚒 that is
my son Alfred 6years and I love to see and have been following your project..😉👍
👋"Hej"" Hello from Elsingor 🏰 Denmark 🇩🇰
Great videos, have just Subscribed..... Any chance of a video looking inside the lockers and a look inside the cab?
I love the videos, but please do something to improve the sound, get an external microphone or something
Nice work 😀. I have some proper paint renovater and polish that you can use with the machine polisher that is top notch that I can send you down if you fancy using that next time you're going to do it.
if you fancy a trip to scotland i'll happily apply a ceramic coating to it and protect the paint for 4yrs.
What a transformation !
G3 compound and patience, as I had the same with my recovery rangerover classic 👍
Where have your badges went ie the eg fire service Crest?
This video was filmed before the video when he stuck on the crests
The end results where very nice well done
mint vid mate
Looking lovely massive difference for sure !! I can hear you clearly !
Fantastic job you can polish up the light bar with to 😊

Andrew Locke hi thanks for the tip will buff again soon when the rain decides to stop
You need to get some ladders for it if you can bud. Excellent video as usual
looks loads better now mate

Where have the ladders gone of the top
Looks brand new mate(except some of the dash)smashing job👍 you need to sort that rust out on the tow hook thing on the front that let's it down
Do you know why it has white stripes on the front and yellow on the sides? Also, why has it got a towing pin on the front bumper ~ what would that be used for?
it's better to use some water while polishing. really like your video's m8.
That was a lot of work! No wonder why you had a can of Coca-Cola Original Taste with you!
Can u do a walk around of the hole vehicle showing all the lights in action
keir Stopps will add this to the list as i think it would be good too
hi mate how much did you pay i see one for sale the other day as limo pole lights bar was pukka
T cut soapy water keep damp and white cutting pad then polish turtle wax it 👍
Awesome
Hello
You wanna use som water on your wheel so it doesn’t get hot pal loveing the videos
You probably know by now, but the T-Cut should have gone on first. I should be the most aggressive compound you use in this section. T-Cut, Polish, Wax. ;)

Get some 3M 3 part cutting compound and make it shine like glass
Ps you need to spray water on the work area or else you'll burn the paint / surface
Completely agree I thought while watching it he's been lucky not to have any burn spots.
get a heat gun and warm the plastics so they change back to red instead of pink
That coming along nicely Lawrence did you get the water leaks sorted
For your wheels look online for Alcoa wheel polish for trucks
Enter it to truckfest fire engines
Didn’t you Clay the paint first? Polish the roller doors next that will look ace.
where has the stickers gone?
Coaster World well noticed! I filmed this a few weeks back and was trying to fix the audio hence why the stickers video came first when really was after
Polish the blue lights and you go to see a huge difference
Brilliant, but how many times do we have to listen to Serenade in G
My thoughts too.
It's like listening to a phone ringing that no one wants to answer....
A lot of work, but much cheap than a full colour respray.
I’m just curious Lawrence,do you need an operators license to run it and what is the road tax on it?
am sure its exempt as it's a service vehicle
Wash, clay bar and then start the polish process
you gonna upgrade the lights to LED ones?
That would ruin the old school Dennis look!
@@olliew5441 not if u get the LEDs designed to emulate halogen
@@BenchTheKench69 Oh yes that's not a bad idea you could use the original shell but use LED instead of halogen
Ollie's sound and lighting get led lights that look the same as the old ones
you got a built in pressure washer lol
ppe. personal prat equipment lol ony joking enjoyed the vid
Autosmart sell a cleaner that will clean the locker doors
Autoglym colour restorer then autoglym resin ,And a soft cloth ull want nowt else.t cut is too harshe.
Music got a bit repetitive after a while
i wouldn't recommend T-Cut, god awful stuff, Autoglym paint renovator is a similar price range item and far superior. dont pre apply to several panels, 1 panel at a time and make sure the machine pad is slightly damp, then protect your hard work with polish after.
👍🤔
I would love to watch all your videos but I can't hear you. A better microphone is needed
First
Omg your the best
Lovely vid. Awful music. Not needed. Your voiceover Lawrence is all you need.
Can you please come and buff my Citroen..... 😀
I thought the music was awesome.. I guess beauty is i the ear of the beholder (or something like that) Nothing like a good but of the old Ludwig Van to sharpen you up.. ;)
Its way better than the shitty free music people use
Can you make a video touring the cab area switches controls etc
