Man this brings a tear to my eye. RIP Charles, one of the finest guys in bluegrass. I still have a Slade bumper sticker on my banjo, and I'll never forget the time you gave to our little band that day in Colorado.
I love TH-cam. When this was my favorite song back in the day, I didn't get to watch them play as well as enjoy the music. My all time favorite Hot Rize song. I second the praise for Tim's amazing vocals. Spectacular.
I was there. This is 1987 or 88. They did this set in Madison WI, and they were the best live bluegrass band I had ever seen. Not sure where this video was recorded, but I have a tape from Wisconsin Public Radio of the concert in Madison and it's really good.
This was aired on "New Country", as show that was then part of The Nashville Network (TNN). It featured bands recorded live in Nashville that would play tunes from their latest album. I remember watching them for the first time on TV. It was recorded live at The Cannery. I've seen quite a few groups televised on this half hour show. By any chance do you have the song (video) "The Shadows In My Room" from this same show that you could add to You tube to view? Thanks in advance!
Tim is a hero to me and this is a great song. What year is this? Tim looks like he’s in high school. Doesn’t sound like a kid tho. The vocals and songwriting are mature. Thanks for the upload.

I also use to have the "I'm a Knuckle Head" bumper sticker from their alter egos , "Red Knuckles and The Trail Blazers" band. Great stuff!

I miss Hot Rize, but I really miss Charles Sawtelle. What a great and underrated guitarist...
