Yes my mother always use cotton cloth during pads,and i m using only pads once she insisted to used me cotton cloth and i tried cotton cloth during the time i satyed at home.and trust me guys its much more comfortable then pads..ita about 4-5 months i satarted using cotton cloth whenevr i stayded at home during periods.

I would rather go for menstrual cup they are very nice please you should encourage for this period cups. Cloth pads are not gives very much facility and the most important problem is when it's a rainy day then how do you manage it to dry out properly and insure it's hygiene also this is one of those reasons why every woman in India get warned to stop using clothes and switched too disposable cotton sanitary pads so it's really shows hypocrisy
Not comfortable with the idea of menstrual cup. Not sure how practical it is to sterilize it perfectly well each time you empty it and reuse. Explored both biodegradable pads and tampons. They are both comfortable. However, most tampons anyway come wrapped in polythene cover inside the box. And I read that even the biodegradable brands of pads have traces of plastic. So, for someone like me the best bet is reusable cloth pads : (
