    Great build, love your videos, always learn something watching you. I definitely gotta get that scale setup for the Xicoy CG transducers. I have a setup using long scales from Harbor Freight on a table but always difficult to use. Also, I am assuming if using a KT45 turbine I shouldn't have to adjust the motor mounts like you did for the Xicoy?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks very much! If using the kingtech you will probably have to get the mount in the middle of the rail like I did. The former work in the back of the plane prevents the pipe from going at an angle up and down so not much room in the pipe. Engine is the adjustment point.

    Nice I leant something today I always thought the parts on a wing with Mig 15 / 17 were wing fences not wing cutters LOL I do like weathering on a model you dont often see show room finish on fighter jets other than delivery or say Blue Angels etc

    If that is the AS3X 10 channel receiver it is a no go for turbine aircraft. It even says so right on the Horizon page. And those gear controllers work great right? Up until you try to us it in flight and it won't work.

    It continues to be a problem with silver foam models that they just never get the finish quite right and silver shows up the imperfections and softness of the foam. The closest Ive seen a manufacturer come to a good silver finish is HSD's T33. That aside your work continues to impress me

    Does the gyro in the specktrum rx have any issues when running a turbine?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not a regular spektrum flier so can't say for sure. one thing I did but didn't show in the video was take the receiver apart and install silicone on the board. This is a very common suggestion with this setup in a turbine.

If you hang it nose up. And spray it down with denatured alcohol.wings and horizontal stabilizer. Let dry. Then set er on wheels and do the fuse and horizontal stabilizer.!! The effect is the finishing WOW! Try it on something foamy and see for yourself?!!

    Great Project as usual. I only fly EDF's due to sound restrictions where I fly and no place close to fly turbines. If I recall, I believe this plane comes in an EDF version as well. Of the 31 hours I am interested in how much time you spent weathering, amazing job and affect!. I have several EDFs, ranging 70mm to 90mm, L-39, A10, F-15, F-22, F-86 and spent many hours on weathering since I agree with you the foam airframes lack depth and are just, bla out of the box. Always look forward to you videos and waiting for the maiden of this bird.

    I still fly my HSD Super Viper 105 (foam turbine jet), bought back in 2016. I first flew it with a K-45 .. it was OK, but after swapping in a K-60, and adding a small extended fuel tank, improved the performance to a more satisfying level.
    PS, it came with servos, retracts & brakes w/assoc controllers. I replaced all the servos with better ones, as they were barely strong enough .. it took several attempts to get the brakes right.

    • @thelightersideofrc

    Great looking little foamy Mig that should fly great, as long as the stock electronics can be trusted, and they're not on the super cheap side. That's the only thing that bothers me about these arf's that come with the electronics already installed. You know they're not putting high quality stuff in there. All it takes is one sketchy elevator servo, and it's all over but the crying. Not trying to be negative, as I believe it's a very legit issue that needs to be monitered. I would put all the flying surface servos on a quality servo tester, and give them a good workout before I put her in the air.
