I didn’t realise the tail was down. I’ve being trying to learn it balancing without much luck.

you don't have to do these with the tail down if you get it locked in properly. when you have your heelside wheel wedged right up against the coping and all your weight on that back heel, you don't have to worry about balancing at all--it's oddly stable. i love it, great feeling trick!

It can be done either way but I find that it slides easier with the tail down and there’s less risk of hanging up on the landing 👊🏽
