How To Backside 5-0 Grind On A Mini Ramp

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 11 ธ.ค. 2017
  • In this video I give a very detailed tutorial on how to backside 5-0 grind on a mini ramp teaching you the best techniques and common mistakes you can avoid. If you have any questions about any trick I respond to all comments so feel free to ask!
    One of the most common mistakes I see with 5-0 grinds is the way people lock in. If you lock in to a 5 0 with your whole truck on the coping it makes most variations more difficult, makes it more likely to hand up on the top of the transition and makes for less consistency.

    Dude it really shows that you're really in this for the love of skating. Most skate channels seem more about getting subscriptions than actually teaching kids and getting ppl pumped on skating. Thx for doing what you do man

    You sir are an extremely talented skater and have the knack for tutorials. My search is over. You are responsible for my rapid progression of late when I was beginning to think nothing was ever going to click. Turns out practicing something the wrong way for years is not an effective way to improve. Finally someone breaking it down and explaining the little details. I’m fairly new to your channel so I can’t wait to watch and learn more. You deserve so many more views and subscribers. Keep up the good work, man.

    I was trying to kick turn at high speeds on a spine, and I accidentally did this trick. I tried it again and now I can do this trick constantly. I can't even 50 50 on a spine yet😂

    thanks for all the trick tip videos, they really help me a lot. i've recently tried learning backside 5-0s but i've been locking in with my whole truck on the coping, is it really that bad or does it make you more likely to lock up when coming back in?
    in the future could you maybe do a video on front side disasters where you actually kinda ollie up and over the coping and come down? i can somewhat powerslide into them but getting above the coping with both wheels is intimidating lol.

    • @ChadCaruso
      @ChadCaruso  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment Trevor, there really is no wrong way to do it but for me it makes it more likely to hang up and also makes tricks like 5-0 grind to fakie way harder to learn.
      I’ll definitely be doing a Frontside disaster video in the near future

    • @bowyerbones
      @bowyerbones 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i'm definitely going to try locking in the other way now, i didn't think about it being easier to come in fakie that way. thanks again, i'll keep my eye out for your next videos!

    • @dubble_g
      @dubble_g 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For frontside disasters what helped me to. Not just slide into them is when i started to do fs 180s/fs ollies on a quater pipe and go higher and higher and its basicially and fs air but u just land on top of the ramp. Which is easier than a real fs air

    I ride my trucks fairly loose. Is there a problem with wheel bite when only locking in one wheel?

  • @tresfordays9644
    @tresfordays9644 ปีที่แล้ว

    I honestly find long 5-0’s easier on bigger mini ramps, I skate the 3ft and I have trouble 5-0ing on it cause I have a tendency for my weight to go to far on top, vs on the 7ft I never have that issue

    What’s the best way of getting from a backside slash to a stall or grind. Do I simply need more speed or is it just the pressure on the side of the board the coping and ramp decking is on?
    Thanks

    • @ChadCaruso
      @ChadCaruso  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can slash and want to start getting on top of the coping the best way to start is by trying axel stalls. You definitely need more speed than you would for a slash, it helps get you on top of the ramp. Also try to approach the coping more straight when trying to learn how to stall on top of the ramp, it tends to be a bit easier. For me it really clicked when I learned to stand up straight and press on my heels.
      Hope that helped, let me know your progress!

    What if you get wheel bite when you lock in stoping your grind?

    • @ChadCaruso
      @ChadCaruso  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even if you get wheel bite you should still grind from your momentum and because your truck is on the coping (metal on metal). If for some reason it sticks though you can wax where your wheel hits your board.

    So the truck lock in position is opposite a frontside 5-0? Why is the truck lock in position not the same for both?

    • @ChadCaruso
      @ChadCaruso  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great observation, i think it’s a lot harder to lock in on one wheel for frontside 5-0s because of weight distribution. Also it’s much harder to put pressure on your toes rather than your heel.
