Just saw most of this and wanted to say congrats, you are on track for sure. I can relate, at 24 I stopped drinking. tore up from 17-24. I stopped drinking to finish my degree and never got drunk again because I noticed I liked how it felt... It took effort and then I protect it. 37 now, honors degree, house, fiance, 1.5 year old daughter and a good job amd good times since I stopped at 24. Keep enjoying your new perspective. It brings out simple beauty in life.
Refreshing to see an honest from the heart video and also tips to help you quit. One thing with all these videos on TH-cam is they say how amazing it is when you stop etc etc but what they don't give is tips and advice on how you deal with it, especially in the early stages of quitting. I agree with the 'self sabotage to make yourself really sick' and then quit, you can always look back and remind yourself of that moment. The help from your other half sounds amazing, you also need that. Thanks man :)
Thank you! I did write down how I felt on my last hangover, and read it back a few times over the last year. Having the additional support from my wife was a huge thing to me 🙏🏼
Well Done 👏 👏 👏 The only 100% way to keep sober is to keep off that 1st Drink!!!…. Steps… Program… etc etc is a personal venture done as each individual interprets it… what works for one may not work for others… Don’t let anyone tell you your doing it wrong if you don’t do this like that & don’t do this like this… Step 1 POWERLESS OVER ALCOHOL & LIFE’S BECOME UNMANAGEABLE… Do what ever it takes to keep of that first drink & move forward!… wishing all well 🇬🇧
Thank you! I really noticed the change in my mindset when I attended an open bar wedding and never even gave it a second thought about sticking with water for the night.
Great video! And other young men who drink regularly need to listen to what you're saying. I'm 64 and working on my sobriety. I only wish I had the easily accessible educational opportunities when I was your age that are available now. Andrew Huberman podcasts for example. I would have stopped drinking decades ago.
Thank you for this, the key difference for me was zero withdrawal symptoms, physical or mental, not even within the first thirty days, after Steffon Barkload and what he suggested it's been 9 months now it's like it never was a problem, reading that last version goolging what he put up. No AA or meds either was the factor that most attracted me too.
Lot of respect Gio it takes a lot of guts to do what youre doing , Huberman is my wifes “ permitido “ . Hopefully i will take my truck to you to do some work on it and get to meet you .
I stopped drinking last August. I still love the taste of beer so I drink nonalcoholic IPAs. I get to enjoy the taste without all the negative effects. My friends think it's weird that I drink nonalcoholic beer but it's the only thing that is keeping me sober. I still get cravings at least once a week and the nonalcoholic beer is just enough to satisfy my thirst. My tolerance for beer was so high, I wasn't even getting drunk off the real deal, I was just getting sick.
That’s awesome man, keep it up! I also like to drink some nonalcoholic beers on occasion. The high tolerance was a wake up call for me too. I could drink a ton and still feel normal, but being sober feels so much better 🙏🏼
Congrats man! I also quit drinking May 2009, similar story, problem binge drinking before that plus losing family members to alcohol. I just do not see myself ever going back to it. I don't even think I would enjoy it now plus all the negative health consequences of alcohol that tend to get worse as you get older.
That’s a huge deal! Congrats on being sober so long 👏🏻 I just lost another great friend to alcohol and it really makes me sad he couldn’t quit with me.
@@gio.rodriguez Sorry to hear about your loss. Just never forget why you quit drinking, regardless of anything in the past, you have passed a stepping stone on your personal growth journey that many people will never reach. There aren't many single choices you can make that have such a significant positive on health and relationships than quitting alcohol.
I am 13 years sober one day at a time. I quit at 26. I was a high functioning and mildly successful drunk. Only one that knew I had a problem was my wife. Each person has their own reason for getting sober. Congrats!
I just bring a pack of Liquid Death to the party, hardly anybody notices I'm not "drinking"... I quit drinking about 2 months ago, I myself got tired of the IPA headaches.
Congratulations man I went through the same thing 13 years ago and I don't regret not drinking anymore at all I have no problems with the law my health is better good job man
@gio.rodriguez it helped me to keep my serenity coin on me for a long time. And for you to catch it this early in love is great . Now start living life. And keep up the good contacts and let's see more of that quadracer
