Koaki feels like Duel Terminal lore cards that missed the memo. The whole Chaos Att. hate is so weird in vacuum, but it make sense if they're part of Justice or a third-party that fight both the Worms AND Justice. What a strange buncha rocks.
Actually, this was basically an attempt by Konami to make a control deck to reign in several dominant Light or Dark focused decks at the time It didn't work
I think it is more implied that Darkworld is in a seperate reality from the Different Dimention that Kozaki lives in but also has access too. It is recognized in the lore that he is the lead REASERCHER and authority on Darkworld. This indicates it is something generally unfamiliar in the reality he exist within. The Different Dimention itself is expressed as a chaotic in-between space where many interdimentional travels mistakenly wind up. He and other scientists have there base here and it makes sense he is using it as a semi-remote location for R&D experiments related to other dimentions. Weve seen the magical dimentions also act as a seperate relatiy and magical scientist seems linked as well, developing experiments alongside Kozaki. It seems this is a different dimention research facility for collective efforts. Kozaki seems focused in the Darkworld himself and rebuilt Gagagigo using Darkworld technology. He also created Giant Kozaki this way and implicably other experiments.
Koa'ki has always been my favorite deck, and I'm so grateful someone was willing to talk about these old bricks. I always felt that had just a few cards been changed this deck could have been a decent midrange control deck but alas our hopes have died.
imo, it doesn't even need a series revamp, it just needs *sane* support. maybe give it 3 new cards; 1)A new core card that carries the "iron core of koa'ki meiru" name while in deck and hand. maybe give it the ability to recycle or search if sent from hand to grave ,to give synergy with the costs 2)Give them a continuous spell or trap that acts like a fusion of koa'ki meiru prototype and core transport unit, but with a better protection effect that maybe takes a page from the level 5 (and doesn't just trigger in the end phase) 3) finally give them a new field spell that doesn't have a maintenance cost, searches IF a koa'ki meiru gets destroyed or tributed (thereby triggering off maintenance checks, effect costs, AND standard destruction outside of end phase), and maybe gives an additional boost ala overclocks reveal effect. the deck could literally stabilize with just that, and maybe some new decent non-rock monsters to fill out other variants. the deck is already absolutely lethal to light and dark decks, and has great stun elements, giving them more consistency backrow is the only real thing they need.
My favorite Koa'ki Meiru is Ghoulungulate. I just think he's cool. Also, thank you for making a video for this archetype. I love Koa'ki Meiru, and have been continually trying to build a viable deck on Master Duel that isn't just Adamancipator with a sprinkling of Koa'ki Meiru.

I remembre creating a deck whose win condition was to prevent your opponent from playing, and skip your draw phase with the iron core to win when they don’t have any cards left
My brother and I loved Koaki Meiru monsters when we were younger because of the art. I wish the archetype had better ways to search out Iron Core and a better way to recycle it without skipping draw
@@mayayamato7351 I could imagine a power crept version of the original intent that Nova talked about. Print more high stats level fours to modern standars with searching/recycling effects for the iron cores, throw in some extenders and you could get a decent aggro deck out of the archetype

The fact the Kaiba Corp Bling was used as a meta skill for top tier Duel Links Koa’ki Meiru since Ice and Maximus were nuts in speed duel format as well back then.

I think the four main tribute rocks are the coolest of them all since they aren’t once per turn. If you get barrier statue or pachycephalos and overload down, that’s a solid monster lock against anything except floo pretty much
Time-tearing morganite works well too. Please let this deck get a more modern support of a new field spell. The pure version is so close to being a real contender for a stun deck
@@brandonbackup873 Not NOW, but that is a powercreep issue. The monsters with stronger Effects without any drawbacks being an issue and the reason I found it nice.
Another tech would be Ties of the Brethren, since it can bring out three of one type of Koaki Meiru, in this case either Beast Warrior or Rock to set up 3 for just 2k atk. In a rock stun style deck, you can get a spell, trap and monster effect negate with this.
used to have a rock stun deck, combining the koa'ki meiru rocks with triamids and block dragon...until adamancipators came along and got block dragon banned...
Always thought their idea very interesting, unfortunately they are really slow and hardly maintained into their own archetype. Hope in the future we get some new support that give then some playability

Koa'ki Meiru (Ko-a-ki Meh-ru) is pronounced like Core Chimail in Japanese. Important pronunciation fact, since people like MBT constantly say it wrong.
i really enjoyed this archetype when i furst played duel links the lower life point among and the limited zones often caused maximus paired with some normal summon in the best case urknight for a negate search to be one of the best otk decks then the diamond core was released and it was at the peak of the meta without much competition until they heavily limited pretty much everything making the deck almost unplayable i really wish the pure version was actually playable but its gimmick is just too flawed for modern yugioh to have any kind of meta relevance as a pure deck
Not so fun fact about doom him was apart for otk with genex bird man and galle the red star bird i think when you could do a lot of dmg with high level monsters
I like the theming and the art style that Koa'ki's have but lord are they not very good. It's hard to make a good deck around the idea of every important monster having a maintenance cost.
I mean, it's been done, remember that Lightsworns' mill effects were supposed to be a downside. The obvious difference is that Koaki Mei'ru don't get any advantage for paying either of their costs and are entirely banking on their stats and effects to make up the difference.
@@brandonbackup873 Difference is that Lightsworns don't die if you don't mill because it's mandatory. Feels real bad playing Koa'ki and not having a way to get to a core or other monster to pitch.

In terms of design prototype will always be my favorite since I had it as a kid and still have that same exact copy
its a close second for me. the ultra rare core i pulled, first of the archtype, takes the title of my favorite.

Berzack isnt once per turn so it can clear full field of small blockers before that last direct attack,
Drago would be a great neutralizer for most light attribute decks
Drago is a staple in dragunity since you can special it off of seal and not be locked out of your deck

you guys remember an old deck called "rock stun"? with unification, you can make it a "koa'ki rock stun".
This deck was an epidemic at duel links at one point. Kind of wacky how that turned out.

Rock Stun is basically the four Rock KM and Fossil Dyna.
