Great performance, exactly the way I'd want to play the solo part if I could. Orchestra was on top of things, unusually well drilled for such an unpredictable and stylistically capricious piece. I am even more convinced now that it really hangs together better in a slightly dry room. Experienced organists will tell you that much of the standard solo organ literature is REALLY hard to play well in echoey churches and other reverberant spaces.
Wonderful - brings back memories of lessons on that organ with Eric Chadwick and (sometimes) Gillian Weir. Some more details of the performers would be nice - soloist and conductor, at least. I notice also that TH-cam, in its wisdom, has listed under 'Artist' the 1970s Georges Pretre/Durufle recording.
sorry to be offtopic but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Callum Edward i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
What is the name of the hall ? This is as fine a performance as I have heard---takes me back to my first exposure to this piece, sometime in the early Nineteen-sixties. The organ registrations are faultless---perfection. I wish the camera had taken in the pedal-board and stop controls---and I continue to marvel at the audacity of audience members who can't control their distracting emanations during priceless recorded performances (or any musical performances at all) !
Comme je vois des briques (qui ne sont pas les lingots d' or si prisés actuellement) , je pense qu' il s 'agit simplement du "Moulin de la galette" ( Sera-t-elle là pour la prochaine fête des rois ?).
Thank you for sharing my favorite by Poulenc
Toujours fascinant ce dialogue entre orchestre et orgue et subtil pour les timbales
