Thanks for introducing me to the Nishua i was having trouble deciding between the Bell mx 9 and xd4 but took your advice and got a Nishua everyone comments on it and love it cheers mate 👍
thanks for the tram stuff very interesting. It looks like you just couldn't wait until after breakfast to unbox that helmet . I think i would have been the same.cheers
I remember going down from the tram tracks there on swan st on the back of my dads Aprilia when I was a kid - we were from the country. Learned that lesson quick! 😂
Nerb, Would love to know when you test re highway noise. I have a Shoei air which is a bit heavy when standing up on trails but quite on the highway, looking for an adv type light helmet
will be interesting to get your review on the ventilation at the height of summer. maybe you could find a way to mod the front vents to vent straight to face
Great video! Congrats on the new helmet. I bought mine and I don't think I could ever go back to a heavy helmet. Carbon fiber is awesome, mine is 1245g +/-50 also. Definitely worth the money.
Agreed. Thanks for watching again. I dont think I left a comment on your last video, but I loved the old bridge and all the rivers... even if you were on 4 wheels ;)
I ordered the Nishua Carbon , but as I really need a helmet went and brought the Airoh Commander Dual sport helmet. I did have the Tourtech Adventure & the Airoh is lighter then the Nishua & Tourtech ( both VERY light helmets ) the Airoh is around 50-100 grams lighter - and has an I built flip down tinted visor , shit don’t know how it’s so light but build quality is excellent and made in Italy. I will do a review with all 3 helmets when I get my Nishua
Ooof a little late to the party. I went down the rabbit hole years ago (prior to this ) looking for an adventure/supermotard style helmet. Came across one by Uvex called the 'carbon enduro'. Sadly, that had been discontinued. Then I came across the Nishua (think it was some random review somewhere) but couldn't find the helmet online. So, what you'll find is that Nishua and Klim purchased the mould/model design for that original Uvex helmet then sold them under their name. I couldn't find a dealer for the Nishua and wasn't going to fork out a grand for the Klim Carbon Krios but to my surprise I found Polaris sold the exact same carbon model to coincide with the release of their Spitfire three-wheeler. I purchased one for appx. $400NZD five years ago and have been wearing it since. So if anyone is looking for this helmet just jump on eBay and search for the Polaris Slingshot helmet.
Thank you for a review of the Nishua in English. I think you might have the only English review. Do you have an update after going a few thousand kilometers?
Thank Shadrach. Sure. I am still very very happy with this helmet. It is comfortable, easy to change visors, peak works well.... really good. Criticisms... the peak can get a vibration at some angles of wind, but i have to move my head to a certain angle to make it happen. And, the plastic peice on the back of the helmet might be fading... I'll keep monitoring that. Ventilation seems fine to me, but we are just coming into hot weather here, so I'll see how it is in very hot conditions soon.
Hey Nerb, I'm looking at getting this Helmet. I'm currently running an Arai xd4 in XL It got a little loose over the years. Would you recommend I get the same size XL if the Aria XL fits me OK to begin with?
Hey mate, thanks for your video... I was wondering what size of the helmet you alway wear? I have my LS2 in medium size which is 57-58cm, but friend of mine got M size of Nishua, it was a bit tight for me...
Louis bought the Uvex helmet division. The Uvex enduro used to be sold as the the BMW Enduro, became the Nishua 3-4 years ago, and is now the "new" KILM. It's been around for something like 10 years now.
I wish I had known about it 10 years ago! I think the uvex enduro was first made in 2008. I bought my first arai xd in 2006. We couldnt use ECE rated helmets until this year :(
Yeah. Just funny how the same helmet gets sold under so many different brand names. Though I do have to say, the KLIM versions price is a bit of an insult. Also your dealer can lower the pressure threshold for the TPS alarm. Just need to hook it up to the computer.
Looked up that helmet, nobody sells it here, but one German shops asks 300€ for it, same as Nexx XD1. I have to get a new helmet next year, Nishua does look good
So tram tracks are great to do burnouts on at traffic lights? This is my request for your next video. :-p I think I'd get in trouble if I tried riding on the tram tracks here. Damn! That's a light helmet! I thought mine was light at 1500g. Looks good! How is it with wind noise? You probably already said, but I can't be arsed going back and watching again. lol
The peak got a bit rattley so ive added a little piece of foam at the clip that holds the peak on. Other than that its been great. Still the best helmet ive owned.
Hey Nerb, how does the sizing of the Nishua compare to the Arai XD4? I've got a Medium sized one at the moment. (Im asking this mid video, so if you answer it later, im sorry :P)
I was a large and went to a large. At new, I would say the XD4 was a little tighter, but has the removable padding. Louis have a measure your head size button on their page.
Hi Nerb, how did you find the sizing compared to your other helmets. I have read some comments that mention the Nishau may be a bit larger than the same size in another brand helmet. I noticed you got a large , was it as tight from new as the Arai or Shark?
Ive also read those comments. I think the sizing is pretty similar. I was a large in the arai. No way would I fit a small in the nishua. I think the arai was a little tighter on the cheeks, but the arai also comes with thicker cheek pads with tear-off layers for an exact fit.... if you took one of those layers off the XD4, it would be exactly like the nishua. The shark is not as oval and gave me a headache, so I cant really compare that one.
Hey dude great vids! The phone mount Tom put up is called "quad lock" a mate of mine has had it on his MTB for about 6 years now and his is the only one that's still working and hasn't lost his phone riding around lysty , Thanks for putting up the helmet review also been waiting since your first mentions of it a while back, I've been looking at every adventure helmet review possible to find the quietest helmet I can ( I have ear problems ), 1 that ventilates well also and a drop down internal tinted sun visor would have been ideal , how did you go fitting the sena and camera ? Been watching ur's and Toms vids all year and it's got the itch to ride going strong in me again especially your cape York and Simpson adventures ( I bought another bike thanks fellas) just need a super quiet helmet before I can ride ( and yes I also wear earplugs but need all the help I can get ) Keep up the good work dude it's really inspiring , and if there's any suggestions of a super quiet helmet that breaths I'll be all ears RegardsMad
Nerb1 my local dealership offered to do it. They said it's just a matter of plugging in the laptop and changing it. I've got a 2016 1190 adventure (not the R model)
Man.... I thought we were going to see a naked NERB there fore a minute..... had me waiting the whole video.... then nada..... All the foreplay... and no action... lol....
The face shield notches are fine. The peak became rattly, but ive put a little foam packer behind the locking pin and its good. I still love this helmet. As good as any helmet double its price.
Thanks for introducing me to the Nishua i was having trouble deciding between the Bell mx 9 and xd4 but took your advice and got a Nishua everyone comments on it and love it cheers mate 👍

new segment: pyjamas unboxing!

Nerb can we get a review on that robe please
gday mate- re the tram tracks good way to get a puncture from the edge shavings on the rails.
Maybe. Ive never had one, but I guess its possible.
Never had one as well.. un/lucky?
will be interesting to get your review on the ventilation at the height of summer. maybe you could find a way to mod the front vents to vent straight to face

Nerb1 nice! I'm glad to hear it's working out well for you. Thank you for the reply. I'll be ordering one soon.
Hey Nerb, I'm looking at getting this Helmet. I'm currently running an Arai xd4 in XL It got a little loose over the years. Would you recommend I get the same size XL if the Aria XL fits me OK to begin with?
Yes. I got the same size in both.
Hey mate, thanks for your video... I was wondering what size of the helmet you alway wear? I have my LS2 in medium size which is 57-58cm, but friend of mine got M size of Nishua, it was a bit tight for me...
I use a large, which is 59/60.

iSlander.... the Nishua is on sale at louis.de at the moment... 168 euro!
Good tips about the tram tracks, Does the helmet have enough space inside to fit speakers for a sena ?
Yes it does. More room than the XD.
So tram tracks are great to do burnouts on at traffic lights? This is my request for your next video. :-p

old vid but I am thinking to get this helmet, did it hold up well?
I still use it now
So how has the helmet stood the test of time? I’m very close to buying one.
The peak got a bit rattley so ive added a little piece of foam at the clip that holds the peak on. Other than that its been great. Still the best helmet ive owned.
@@Nerb1 That's class. I appreciate the reply. Thank you.
where did u get the black mirrowed visor ? :O
It is the smoke visor from louis
Hey Nerb, how does the sizing of the Nishua compare to the Arai XD4? I've got a Medium sized one at the moment. (Im asking this mid video, so if you answer it later, im sorry :P)
I was a large and went to a large. At new, I would say the XD4 was a little tighter, but has the removable padding. Louis have a measure your head size button on their page.
Fantastic, thanks Nerb-san!
The europeean standard are a very good aprovment to your helmet...we ride with it here...so feel safe..
I know the AS was derived from the ECE standard. Its basically the same tests. I feel safe ;)
Hi Nerb, how did you find the sizing compared to your other helmets. I have read some comments that mention the Nishau may be a bit larger than the same size in another brand helmet. I noticed you got a large , was it as tight from new as the Arai or Shark?

Can some please tell me where i can get that black visor for the Nishua helmet?
www.louis.eu/artikel/nishua-pinlock-visor-enduro/20015011?list=d824a4681004cdaad4fa5409a6aff5af
What is the chance of a pig booking you for no DOT? and any link to where you bought it, could try eucalyptus oil to remove one from a old helmet.
I believe louis.eu is the only place that sells it. DOT isnt a problem here as ECE is accepted.
Hey dude great vids! The phone mount Tom put up is called "quad lock" a mate of mine has had it on his MTB for about 6 years now and his is the only one that's still working and hasn't lost his phone riding around lysty ,

What size helmet are you? How far from lysty? Send me a PM
how is the viewing angles?
Really good. Its quite wide so it fits goggles easy.
So do you use both goggles and visor?
Yes. When I go offroad, I use the goggles, but leave the visor on.
How is the sizing compared to a shoei helmet?
I dont know. I had an Arai and it is basically the same.
I seee you have the L. What is your head size? Mine is 58,5 cm and not sure if M or L. Some rewiever says that M is enough large for 59 cm head.
Hi. I use a translator. His nishua size in the video is L (59-60). Is that your size? I read that nishua manufactures the largest sizes. Thank you.-
I am L in Nishua and L in Arai. Same size.
Did you buy that robe because you thought it looked really cool also
My mother bought it for me. Blame her ;)
Nerb1 i thought that was your James Bond look hahaha good stuff
You can get your low pressure warning changed by a ktm dealer
I keep asking, they keep telling me they cant. Maybe one day they'll work out how to do it.
All the foreplay... and no action... lol....
lol... not on youtube!
Website louis.de
Shows weight as being 'approx' 1040g/1150g (including visor and peak)
The dark visor was a seperate purchase?
I think 1150 is the small size. They claim 1270 + or - 50 for the large, and my scales confirm that.
Yes, smoke visor is extra.
I ordered in size M. Same as I wear in Shoei.
Thanks
No, that's the ''Sailing'' Christopher Cross, not the Mac Daddy or Daddy Mac because one of them is dead:)
How is it holding up? Does the face shield stay cracked open at highway speeds? My Uvex would slam shut.
The face shield notches are fine. The peak became rattly, but ive put a little foam packer behind the locking pin and its good. I still love this helmet. As good as any helmet double its price.
