    Ron you said "18 mil" more than once in this video and that makes you an official 'metric-head'. Congratulations 🎉...
    And on the revisions to the kart particularly moving the castos inboard of the footprint. Great thinking tonuse the redundant space beneath the trestles and remove the trip / ankle hazzard all at once. A brilliantly simple evolution 👍👍

    haha Bad timing on my part, I built the smart kart last week - missed this video. BUT the plans were great and it went together really well. Have to say I LOVE this addition to the bench. It's SO easy to move around and now I leave the bench up all the time and can move it as necessary to store out of the way. Fantastic designs, thank you for all your hard work.

    Very timely video for me! I just purchased the new SMART bench plans package which includes the new cart. Add to that....I am in Los Angles visiting my son and driving back to NY starting Monday via Salt Lake City with a stop at ReParadise to pick up several sheets of the UltraLight ply in 18mm and 12mm to carry home for the new builds. Very excited for new benches that are 40% lighter than my old bench!

    I'm building this and the PSS this month. I am playing around with making the patterns with my 3d printer, mainly for the base and the end shapes.

      If you are referring to the video of when you loaded up both benches onto the dolly while you were still in Washington, I've seen that one. I was hoping to see how both benches nested in this new design.

      @@Mike-dy8bqI will work on that. I plan on making a new mobility cart with 8" wheels and will pack up the whole setup and roll it into the Smart Woodshop. 😎🤙

    I bought your plans and made the same mistake with the hand holes! I also discovered that i need to make the caster holes slightly larger than the plan due to flexing.

    Do rhe plans necessarily include rhe offsets?
    I actually dont want to make the patters; i just want the plans to make the bench to reflect the accurate final dimensions

    • @TheSmartWoodshop
      @TheSmartWoodshop  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The plans reflect the actual dimensions. The patterns are on a separate page.

    I dont have a holesaw that large, would making a square cut instead of a circle work for the wheel openings? Similar to how the benches use a square opening instead of round openings. I dont forsee any issues, but any thoughts would be appreciated

    Have you considered selling patterns? A version made of or some type of plastic even that’s light to ship, yet rigid enough for the router to follow. I’d buy patterns all day long.

      I did buy plans for the smart bench and also built it. I need the cart and would certainly jump on buying the patterns

      We have considered patterns but haven't moved forward with any physical products other than the bench. We'll have to see what the future holds. 😎🤙

    Informative video, as always, Ron! Question - is there an advantage to using router bushings and undersized patterns versus final-dimension patterns and flush trim bits?
