I filmed this video a few weeks ago and being the creature I am, though I had finished the video, kept reading up on these topics: just to add a curious coincidence I found out about the two Dennis the Menace characters- both the UK and US versions, of the same name were published on the same day, 12 March 1951. How weird is that?
No way, this came out at the right time! I just watched Nightmare on Elm street for the first time yesterday and the sweater was (of course) the first thing I noticed lol. Great video - as always!
Thank you! Yes, it was a fun vid to make...I love cultural nostalgia! I do remember the American Dennis the Menace, as I used to watch the cartoon as a kid, but I never made the connection between the two names. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I appreciate the research and time you spent putting this together. I knitted 'The Dude' pattern you mentioned for my husband earlier this year. ..it was a challenging knit but the result was really worth it. If you want to learn 'ladder back jacquard' floats, this is The Dude is the perfect project.
Thank you for watching! Oh wow, you knitted the Dude! That's awesome! It definitely looks like a challenging knit. I have been tempted to learn ladderback jacquard on many occasions because it truly makes the back of colourwork look so much neater, especially for socks, but I have yet to encounter a tutorial I understand! 😆😭 The Marilyn cardigan looks great as well!
this was so interesting Natalie! its amazing how people can forget, there was not a pussy hat to be found this year sadly... thanks for the tip about jogless color knitting, I did not know about that! lol, you 'couldnt find him' (waldo) My favorite would be the fair isle, I cant think of any other iconic knits you covered it well! For some reason I remembered Peter Max, that would make a fun sweater!

Your videos are so delightful. Thank you for them.
Aww thank you for watching!
LOVE this video, so fun and informative 😻🧶
Thank you so much for watching!
Loving this video essay, you’re as hilarious as clever and insightful 🧠
Wow! What a compliment! Thank you 🙏🏾
Absolutely loved this episode-as a 90s child myself, I totally identified with many of these trends. Thank you 😊
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! I’ll be keeping it 90s for my next video essay so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Aww thank you! Fave part of the movie is how baby Johnny Depp meets his end 😂
The 4th doctors scarf is so iconic! Princess Di was a fashion icon herself. 🤩 Today, I learned that there's a UK Dennis the Menace. 🤯
I knew the dr who would be up your alley, Roshelle! yeah apparently the uk and the American Dennis the menaces were devised on the same day!
Casting on the Little Dude and the black beret today!
Yaaaasss! I LOVE the Little Dude more than the adult version! Happy knitting!
Such a fun video to watch! So many memories and new cultural references. I had no idea that the UK had a different version of Dennis the Menace.

I was very tickled by you saying you’d add Waldo but you couldn’t find him 😂
😁
My favorite of the ones you mentioned is the Fair Isle. I would add the iconic Norwegian ski sweater.
Oh yes! The Norwegian ski sweater! Thanks for watching!

@@aeastman59 Oh yes, Peter Max paintings would make amazing colourwork sweaters! Yes, there needs to be a call for…resistance, doesn’t there….?
