  • Hi everyone, just a lil update for April. We have a couple finished objects, lots of WIPS, we help out some birds and I show you a couple of items I am stoked about that will inspire future projects and I take you along with me as I prepare my veggie patch for the season.
    Come on in and enjoy!

Glad to see you finished your sweater; I'm amazed how well the two light pink yarns match! The bandana is great. SUPER idea for the bird basket; thanks for sharing. I'm planting basil, rosemary, parsley, hot peppers and marigolds.

Always mending jeans for my husband, seems to get caught on the barbs while fencing for the livestock. Job security😉 Love the bandana!

Love the little bird nest bowl! 🐦🪺 I'm always mending my hubby's work pants. Idk what these husbands are doing! 😂 I planted bell peppers and tomatoes this year. 🍅🫑

Thanks Rochelle! Yeah, some men tend to be hard as hell on their clothes! 😀 Good luck with your bell peppers and tomatoes! Looking forward to another vloggy episode from you!

I'm planting sunflower seeds, cornflowers, and lettuce (I'm still chuckling at the thought of: husband, go to C6, and fetch me some kale!)
Thank you for the TED talk, lol! I agree! I'm absolutely affronted that anyone could even say they're going to "throw away" yarn. Nope, nope, nopettey, nope! (I'm mainly a crochetter, so like to make my scraps into tiny hearts or flowers and use them as accents to gift tags on presents, or for tiny, tiny scraps, stuff them into amigurumi).
With paid for patterns, that striped brick, rather than staggered, definitely should have been picked up by one of the pattern testers, and if not, then released as an errata asap by the designer. As a pattern tester you need to point out any issues you see, or can envisage happening, and point it/speak up to the designer. As a designer I always get my (non-fibre crafter) partner to look at my patterns first as he can point out weird patterns within the pattern that I might have missed just focussing on the stitches, before it gets to testers - if people are paying for your work that's what you need to do. I _do_ like those socks though, but seeing you with the rust red yarn makes me want a red brick, with white pointing, pair! XD
Also, how long is a long scarf? I make for the wears' height - so my 6'7" brother got a very very long scarf, lol!
I still can't believe you got all that yarn in a charity shop for so cheap! You need ko-fi so we can sponsor some socks

Hii! Thanks for your lovely message! sunflowers, cornflowers and lettuce are a lovely mix! I love growing sunflowers. Havent done so in quite some time. Maybe I should this year. Yep, she most certainly said "throw" or "chuck" away, but i didnt watch til the end so hopefully the yarns werent actually committed to the trash! lol. Your idea to make gift charms from scraps is a wonderful idea! I do this with pretty paper and card. So is the idea to knit the Stephen West socks in red brick! Genius! With the scarf, im thinking 2.5 skeins worth of the red yarn and 2 accent colours. I hope i dont get bored knitting it cos I really fancy a long scarf to layer up with, we'll see! Thanks again for watching and sharing your thoughts and experiences with me! 💚

Haha! I made some patchwork pants (badly) in high school about 25 years ago. Not as nice as yours but it really is a satisfying process to put all the pieces together.
I'm slowly working on our garden, it will be several years project since we are on a 1/10 acre lot. It's a lot of work for me, I have some help but not much, so I'm just taking it bit by bit. I'm hoping to have lots of pumpkins again this year and I got a bunch of native berries to plant strategically. My echinacea doubled (!!!) from last year so I might finally have enough for all my healthy teas during the winter.
Mending: kiddo always has pants to mend and I always have socks to mend.
I really appreciate your videos. They encourage me and stay with me for quite a while. Thank you!

Hi Nico! Thank you for your message! I would have loved to see your throwback patchwork pants! I can totally understand how satisfying it would be to collect scrap fabrics to make them! The thought really is making me want to learn to sew! 😍 at the 1/10 lot but I can understand how much work it would be! Your crop plans sound 👌🏾I love echinacea and planted some a few years ago that come back but unfortunately haven’t spread! Do you just harvest and dry the flowers and leaves for tea? They are so beautiful! And thanks again for your support! I really appreciate the opportunity to meet likeminded people through these vids! 💚

@AllHomesteading yes! Exactly :) I cut the flowers off after they develop their petals and if I remember, I cut leaves later in the season. I think it helps them propagate when you cut them, interact with them more. And I always leave a few flowers alone with the hopes that it will help seed some more next season.

what a great idea to do the wee basket for the birdies 🥰 i'll definitely start collecting scraps once i start buying yarn and not just using my heirloom, which i don't know the actual fibers of 😅
