"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
    “Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on TH-cam. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on TH-cam, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

This isn't just bad for women. Without No Fault divorce, a man who wants a divorce would also have to prove infidelity or abuse. What if she isn't abusive physically but financially or emotionally. Men will have to go to the hospital and have physical abuse documented which is already something men don't do. Men will have to testify in court 'my wife bears me' and this is already a problem for some men to be able to admit.

    • @DuaYafai
      @DuaYafai 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I am Muslim and sharia law u can get a divorce but it should be for a valid reason so if he doesn’t please you in bedroom that’s a acceptable reason, if he is cheating, if he is abusing you, if he very stingy not broke but stingy like has money and doesn’t buy u anything or insulting u disrespecting you it had to be a valid reason basically 2:26 lol Christianity you are not allowed to have a divorce at all even if u get beat up if you see real Christianity they just changed that part 😂 to suit there selves but anyway all I’m saying is that’s dumb that they can’t get a divorce and sharia is not like Christianity even abortion we can have an abortion but it is very found upon, but the thing is only in certain circumstances so basically if you get raped, and there is proof and everything then yes, you can get an abortion or if the child is going to be severely disabled, and the doctors have told you the difficulties with that child or you have have utierus issue that you can lose your life then also you can have an abortion, but you can’t have an abortion because you feel like itlol that’s not allowed because that’s a human life and I know people say my body my choice but it’s wrong
So sharia law is a lot flexible compared to the Christian and Jewish law there way more strict then us but media makes us look strict or maybe cuz we are more religious and we take religion serious that’s why they assume it’s worse lol this is the reason why God made a system for us that we only sleep with our spouse that’s it so if our spouse gets pregnant, they won’t be abortion because the man is with his husband and with her long-term because she’s sleeping around with Tom, Dick and Harry how much abortion she would have. That’s so messed up human life every time because you decided to open your legs all the time come on it’s ridiculous. I agree with the last things. This guy says, but this just don’t agree with. I think abortion should only be allowed only in those circumstances my body my choice is anoying yeah so I can fuck men and kill a baby everytime come on have a heart that’s heartless most heartless thing ever but like I said in my religion, they are exceptions so by the looks of the Christianity is a lot stricter than us😂 it’s old because majority of Christians have abandoned their religion that we look way more religious than them because we teach our kids, modesty and chastity life is not all about desire, desire desire if you cannot control your desires you’ll be an animal lol you might aswell be an animal nower days they teach kids do what makes u happy no bro not happening if sex makes unhappy when ur 7 go fuck someone ?? If drinking is what makes unhappy go do that if having drugs makes u happy go do that if watching porn makes u happy go so that like come on u can’t have a system like this without good laws everyone wants there desires life’s a test although many people deny it it’s the truth but oh well I guess everyone thinks it’s ancient myths and tales like Allah says in the Quran when they see our verses they say these are tales of the ancient .. how he is correct and our means about himself god cuz he is not a human being and us and we he uses those words to talk about himself cuz he doesn’t have a gender he isn’t a human and Allah says in the Quran I am time so do not play with the time you have Allah created time space everything look at the universe atleast believe in one god only who created this all let’s atleast agree on that

Next step: men pay for kids that aren’t their in marriage, cause you’re automatically the father if you’re married…..wait that already IS a reality and alot of women do this, nevermind 😊

My issue is when the spouse (often the woman, but not always) wants a no fault divorce and wants the ex-spouse to still support them financially after the divorce. That is bs. if you want out, you shouldn't still get paid. That's like quitting a job and expecting them to pay you.

You don't divorce kids. You're responsible for them forever. Don't like it? don't have them.

My issue with no fault divorce is that it rewards cheating and other shitty behavior. You can cheat on your husband for years, commit paternity fraud, and still get half the assets while also collecting child support. Or take my ex for example. She was a deadbeat stay at home (no kids) for 13 years, contributing almost nothing financially. If she had asked the judge for it (she didn't, thankfully) she could have forced me to sell the house and ruined me financially for the rest of my life. As awful as she treated me in the divorce, thankfully I was able to convince her that her taking half the home value would have been tantamount to theft (my dad put up the down payment and I made all the mortgage payments)

This also happens to women. My name was the only one on our house because my ex couldn't be bothered to work for the last 6 years of our marriage, while I put him through school, worked a full-time job and went to college myself. So tired of men making all women out to be gold diggers, when we aren't.
