I have family that survived WWII on my father’s side. They left Austria in fear of being annihilated and they are watching the news now saying it’s the same thing happening again. Around 1998, I had a emotional or psychological shock realizing that even if my own people (Quebec, Canada) are informed that Canada fully participates in a policy that kills exclusively the most innocent people in Iraq, notably children (blockades/sanctions), the majority responses are denial, indifference, inaction, and the understandable feeling of powerlessness.
