What's actually amazing about this performance was that it was towards the end of their set. Meaning, after he already performed heavy songs like "Given Up", "No More Sorrow" etc.
Like you said, there is more angst than perfection. That's what made Chester one of the greats. Anyone thats ever struggled with life, like he did, understands his style. His music came from the heart. He was amazing and his music has helped many of us, those of that have struggled emotionally, better ourselves. RIP Chester Bennington 💔
there is more angst.. because he is a rockstar screaming is his greatest talent. it's not that he is not perfect for the song, but actually the song is not perfect for him. i miss chester so much its so sad that i'm not going to meet him unless in eternity.
I love how Mike had to give him the note again because he was singing it too high. Seeing Chester makes me both happy and sad. Happy that he was here and did this with his life but sad that he left us.
Had never heard this cover until now. Covering Adele is a bold move for any vocalist, but his rendition is excellent. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Great song, and Chester did it proud. Such a beautiful performance. All of LP's songs, especially when you'd hear Chester sing, you could feel his pain. It was in the lyrics as well as the voice. I love this version, perhaps a bit more than the original. (Please don't throw stones). Thank you, Beth, as always, for your valuable attention to detail and great breakdowns.
Chester had something very special, but the cost of it was massive, he poured his heart out on stage, This is one of my favourite songs it has a natural depth that is so often missing from pop songs, and it is all down to how it is performed, not the words of the songs. RIP Chester
A performance doesn’t have to be “perfect” to be perfection. There’s not a lot of singers who’s emotions come from all the way down in their soul, Chester bared it all and was amazing 👏
I love this cover so much. Chester's vocals with just the piano behind him. Mike showing his talent by recognising Chester's opening note was too high and he'd struggle later in the song. Man, I miss Chester.
I also didn't know about it until after his death. When Chris Cornell died, I just binged on Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog and Cornell's solo stuff, but his covers stood out. And I learned that Chester was a huge fan of Cornell's. A couple months after Cornell killed himself, Chester also took that final step. But we're still able to experience and appreciate the music they left behind. Chester shared the stage with Cornell several times, and they were a great match. Both of them drew from some pretty intense emotions, and it shows. I miss them.
Not just played together a few times, they were close friends. Chester sang at Chris' funeral and died on his birthday. Their duets of Crawling and of Hunger Strike are wonderful.
I used to listen to this song a lot when I was fifteen and fan of LP but then I stopped. Eleven years later I found your video and I remembered every little sound and the tone of voice that he use. It was magical and heartbreaking. Thank you.
Like most great artists, the performances were amazing because the pain was real. He put everything he was on stage, if only he could’ve realized how much he meant to so many. Maybe he could have made it through and stayed with us. I guess losing Chris Cornell was more than he could endure after everything. His loss was one of the hardest “celebrity” deaths we ever had to work through. His talent and light helped save me, I only wish it could’ve done the same for him. Take care of yourselves everyone. Reach for help when you need it.
And he did it after: The Requiem The Radiance Papercut Lying From You Given Up What I've Done Empty Spaces When They Come for Me No More Sorrow Jornada del Muerto Waiting for the End Burning in the Skies Numb Breaking the Habit Fallout The Catalyst Play Video Crawling Faint One Step Closer

--I didn't know Chester improved his live performances this much, later on. I heard a very early live performance where he was nowhere near as good and I was disappointed at the time. --On that very note, I love the part where Beth talks about Chester's pitch in this video. Very wholesome, and something that took me years to understand. I love hearing someone sing with their heart now, and have learned to appreciate that more than pitch or technique.
That was always the point I had with Oli Sykes. He wasn’t or maybe still isn‘t the best singer in the world, but his emotions were so real and on spot that even his bad shows were fckn amazing.
Love your reactions! Please react to Masato from Coldrain ❤ Coldrain is a Japanese rock band that sing in English and Masato’s vocals are amazing as well. Their music video for their song FTTT has live vocals that are just 🤌🏻
You definitely need to check out Chris Kläfford studio sessions he has some amazing stuff they’re one of my favorite songs he does is Billie Eilish song blue eyes
I don't think it's just his grit that makes it angsty. The angst is already there in the lyrics, they're just bringing it more to the surface in their rendition. Gaga's Bad Romance is similar when interpreted by Joseph Gordon Levitt, mainly when he does the chorus. th-cam.com/video/x6zMwGkY7z4/w-d-xo.html
Can I get you to react to an extremely popular artist for you to vocal coaches. Beth, don't know if you've ever reviewed this, but, speaking of angst, here's the incredible rendition of Sound of Silence by Disturbed (and David Draiman) live on Conan. It's pretty amazing!! th-cam.com/video/Bk7RVw3I8eg/w-d-xo.html
Please react to hybridtheorypt they are the best tribute to linkin park.. They are so close to the original band please....they have about 5 million views on their TH-cam channel.
I never understood the idea of being in pitch or in tune, I don't know what it sounds like. When I listen to this from Chester, it basically sounds flawless and whatever it is, its great, and I'm not gonna pick apart any pitch or academic qualities that when you're listening, don't actually matter.
I think not singing perfect is actually more perfect. Being human, being emotional, bringing life to music.
Very well said.
I agree
Agree
Don't trust a perfect person and don't trust a song that's flawless

Chester was very brave to challenge to sing this song. It's not just imitating Adele, it's adapting to his tone. Very difficult.
What's actually amazing about this performance was that it was towards the end of their set. Meaning, after he already performed heavy songs like "Given Up", "No More Sorrow" etc.
Mike getting Chester's attention and correcting the key is such a cool moment.
Such a gold moment from Mike

his voice was absolutely unique. he is all missed so much. there will never be anyone who can get close to him
sang like an angel but could scream like a demon
RIP Chester

It's funny cause I've downloaded this version of the song on my phone but not the original. 😅😅
LET'S BE THANKFUL BECAUSE WE COULD ENJOY CHESTER'S TALENT. WE ARE SO LUCKY TO HAVE HAD HIM IN THIS ERA 🤘🏼🎶
Chester had something very special, but the cost of it was massive, he poured his heart out on stage, This is one of my favourite songs it has a natural depth that is so often missing from pop songs, and it is all down to how it is performed, not the words of the songs. RIP Chester

I'm glad it popped up, and thank you for sharing beth.
Rest in peace Chester.

i remember finding this video like a year ago, i still go back to it from time to time, its just so damn good
He is once in a Generation Vocalist ❤
Chester is/was such a great singer. I'm verry sad that I never had the chance to see him on a live concert.
It’s one thing to give someone goosebumps but WAVES of goosebumps is something else. His voice was so beautifully haunting
Losing him crushed me. He sang how I felt but couldn't describe.
For me, this was the best and most sensitive show of Linkin Park... I can't stop listening... hiking listening.
This was a great cover. Chester’s voice sounded great here. He really is a highly versatile vocalist. One of my favourites.
When a cover song hits so good that you can never listen to the original ever again in the same light.
Probably one of the best covers of all time. Can't help but get emotional.
I used to listen to this song a lot when I was fifteen and fan of LP but then I stopped. Eleven years later I found your video and I remembered every little sound and the tone of voice that he use. It was magical and heartbreaking. Thank you.

a ❤ly comment
This cover made me love the song .
It gives my goosebumps goosebumps
I listen to a lot when I miss Chester the most !
I have watched this video of him so many times. It is just beautiful ❤😢
What a voice …. a light that shone brightly I hope Chester has found peace. 😢🙏
Chester não será esquecido! Thank you Beth!
Nunca ❤
All the notes he hit were intentional. That was his genius. The pitch being perfect was on purpose. The pitch was perfect at the end.
And he did it after:
The Requiem
The Radiance
Papercut
Lying From You
Given Up
What I've Done
Empty Spaces
When They Come for Me
No More Sorrow
Jornada del Muerto
Waiting for the End
Burning in the Skies
Numb
Breaking the Habit
Fallout
The Catalyst
Play Video
Crawling
Faint
One Step Closer
He give me a blues feel😩 love it

I hope this man has at last found some peace. R.I.P.
RIP Chester. Please know you made so many happy.
rip chester, true legend
Great analysis of the great Chester and as a vocalist myself, I like to sing with more passion and feeling then being correctly in pitch.
he was a awesome singer and he be missed l was sad along with his friends, family and friends at his death
I've loved Linkin Park from day one. After his suicide "In the End" hit even harder.
What a voice 🙏🏻 RIP Chester 😢

I saw him and Korn on the Projekt Revolution tour in the 2000s, they both sounded great. No complaints. This was in the Meteroa era.
a primeira banda que eu gostei, que eu acompanhei... as musicas ficaram em nossos corações para sempre......
Beth Roars is the BEST👏👏👏
I enjoy it again I like enjoying
realtic. I learned a new word. Ty.

Good Chester 🥺❤️
Amazing analysis, love it!

🌚 descanse em paz querido
Little Big Town does a great version of this.
All their scattered, smothered, and covered stuff was good. Wish they woulda kept it going.
Pelirroja tan hermosa como siempre 💞
He had some set of balls to do this
Chester was my role model as a child, damn do I miss him
You saw the darkness isn't it Beth?

Rest in peace chester 🥺
I just want to give respect to the fact that.
At the time I watch this, you have 666.000 Subs.
Think you need to do more metal reactions.
You should check out cross off. It was Chester’s last song ever.
R.I.P.
Yeah, he never was a pitch perfect singer, but his techniques were always incredible.

I love Adele but I prefer this cover. It's more stripped down and raw. It shows the REAL feeling in the song.
Love u Beth roars been with u since 50kRIP CHESTER FUK
I love linkin park!
slight segue; Beth, you're looking quite stunning in that black outfit.

Chester started off singing in the wrong key .theys why They he had to start singing over again and the rest is history.
She is so gorgeous
He sanged out his angst of his depression an shitty childhood. Damn, another one gone too soon.
I want to watch your reaction about a band called: Cerebral Bore - The Bald Cadaver 😀🤘

The Adel's version is killer but this version has separate fan base definitely. Chester surpassed singing her own song.
