  • Spiritual formation happens to everyone no matter who they are. The problem is that, generally speaking, our best efforts hurt us, because our formation is centered neither around God nor reality, but around ourselves.

The good news is the amount of Dr. Dallas Willards’ teaching being put up online. The bad news is the lack of viewers. This is grad school quality..high quality teaching by a shining light in the Christian academy

TH-cam is like a deep dark cave. There is good stuff in there but it is not always easy to find.

@@conversatiodiv, I was introduced to Dr. Willard on Day of Discovery, the old RBC TV show. Only recently found some video on here of him lecturing about the Divine Conspiracy. Set it next to the bed and fell asleep. Woke in the predawn and just start hearing deep thoughts. This man was a bright light with insights into the Christian walk unlike any other. Bravo to a genuine brother in the faith.

Couldn’t agree more. A problem is that once you start listening and understanding what Dallas says, you can’t listen to hardly any other “preacher.”

@@robvandiver8921 he is a teacher, par excellence. I love how, as you listen to all his lectures and conversations, you see a man who isn’t getting into denominational differences as a problem to put barriers between people but just accepts their truth for what it is, the truth. Richard J. Foster tells a great Dallas story where Dr. Willard had reached out to him to go to an Episcopal church to hear a Lutheran teach on prayer and he’s a Quaker and Dallas was a Southern Baptist. And he learned from the lecture. There is truth in all denominations and all religions. Salvation is from Christ alone thru faith alone

It never ceases to amaze me how you listen but you don’t hear. What Larry Crabb said has gone into my notes and I pray it to be written in my heart. “I know You’re all that I have but I don’t know You well enough to know that You’re all that I need”

The two bright friends bear great light on a great teacher. A little trinity of light.

I am a huge Dallas fan and I think his teaching is amazing.
In addition to that, Larry's transparency in these talks so far really packs a punch.

Does anyone know this is the full teaching and coffee time sharing of the original session? Thanks!
