Looking into more games I can now put together an entire playthrough in this format so suggestions are VERY welcome! Also the correct seed for this map is - 484842028 with the settings all set to max difficulty and with the large map size and valley type, for those who wish to use the same map in their games! :D
16:30 I know you probably already saw it, or will never need it again, but the thing you were looking for, that shows how much something was produced last year vs how much was produced this year is viewed in the building itself. So for the herbalist hut, or whatever it was called, you click on it, and then check the graph there. To check all of them in a centralized manner like in other games, I think it's accessible from the Town Hall after you build it. I'm still at 16:35 in the video.
I think the great thing about old games is how finished they are. No disappointment, no update shame, just the game for what it is. Thanks for going down memory lane, Lath
I cannot express how enjoyable watching full playthrough content is. Being able to be exposed to so many more wonderful games to enjoy and presented in a highly digestible format
My best friend had this banished save where he didn't build enough houses as he was new to the game and focused on producing food and ressources in general so the villagers didn't reproduce. At some point all the villagers died of old age except for the youngest kid. He followed the life of that one kid who grew up to become a man and spent all of his life going from house to house to use the ressources stored there until he died of old age. When he told me about it, I just found the story amazing and wished to have been able to witness it with him.
Ah, Banished. The game that taught me the difference between games that I like to watch someone play, and games I'll like to play myself. Glad to see it back!
I feel like a slightly newer city builder game you'd love would be Frostpunk as its quite difficult for those who are unprepared and you need to manage multiple different aspects and resources and use the space you have wisely, though I highly recommend to go into it blind, would love to see how you play it oh and the music is absolutely beautiful
Yeah I bought Frostpunk but I haven't gotten around to playing it because i've been investing all of my spare time into another game called starsector.
I remember playing through the Mountain Men challenge. Real nail biter in a lot of ways with how little building space you have. Give it a go if you feel.
bro Ive been watching your from the depths content since like 2014/2015 when I was around 14, makes me happy to see your relevancy hasn't fallen off, might be a weird comment but a lot of the creators I used to watch still do it but have long since been forgotten so its cool to see
Great return to the channel! Banished has the most incredibly zen music out of all any any city-builders. So many hours spend in this game over all the different releases! Still a gem so many years later.
Wow lathrix, I never expected yet always hoped for another banished playthrough. Nearly a decade since I first saw you pick it up! Love the content as always!
As someone from from a place with a different quarry turned into a botanical gardens, I bet it would make for an awesome venue! There's something about how much time and care is dedicated to it that makes it such a special place!
"Now I understand it's cold" as an American with a British grandmother this is so accurate. I had to learn both methods to be able to speak with everyone in my family. Celsius is SO much better than Fahrenheit.
Celsius is more scientific, but i feel like Fahrenheit is more comprehensive for human temperatures, its much more accurate than Celsius without the use of decimals. however for purposes of talking about stuff like boiling points and flash points for materials, Celsius is much more comprehensive. just my take on it though, I understand my bias toward F as I'm American.
As an Aussie, we've taken on a lot of American culture but we still laugh whenever someone is using imperial measurements for anything, it's just odd and feels weird. Metric is all rounded up and fits neatly and feels quick and clean in your brain. Imperial feels like trying to hammer in a nail with another nail to my brain.
Despite you claiming that your city designing skills are lacking you still made an amazing town. At 56:14 I'd love to imagine a mayor coming out of the town hall and say: llok at this graph XD
So, it's been a while, but some notes from the dusty section of my memories: 1. Every production "building" has a window that shows the current season and last season production. I believe it is the swirly arrow button at the top of the window. 2. The timer on tornadoes continues to run while the game is paused, even though nothing is moving. If you paused the game as soon as you got the notification, then looked around the map for 20 seconds to find it, the tornado would dissipate as soon as the game was unpaused.
Please continue the full playthrough series, even if not everyone likes every game. Ive enjoyed every single video youve made like this. Its insanely fun to watch and are reall lovely to rewatch. Ive watched the ftd ones atleast 3 times each
I'm starting to feel old... i remember when Banished was the fresh new game in the city builder genre, before Cities: Skylines, competing with EA's Sim City 2013, and receiving attention from a LOT of people on TH-cam. I've been through all of high school and college and a game I remember being brand new is being labled as "nostalgic"
love how this new style of content opens up the channel to so many games at once, i bet its also a lot less stressful for you to record, however i doubt the editing is any better than short form content
the most iconic thing about this game is that one time I saw Arumba playing it and he had a situation in which a 14 year old boy got married to a 30 something year old woman and they had children and he was like "wtf? but you do you I guess?"
I find that setting a couple of 'harvest' nodes (2 foresters, one set to only plant, herbalist, gatherer, hunter, woodcutter, stockpile and warehouse, plus 5-6 houses) off to the side of the main town REALLY helps at the start. Just make sure you build a blacksmith and tailor before winter 1.
I miss this game. its a shame that the dev team gave up on it. the last dev tried his best, and then RedMoa did an awesome job with some mod content. after a few months it still died. it was really an understated game in its time. If you come across it on steam, its good for 100 hours (ish) before modding it. Definitely worth the couple bucks for a weekend or two of enjoyment. awesome job on the vid @Lathland , keep up the good work!
7:28 I like to imagine a PhD standing on the dock wagging his finger at the fish astonishingly, while the people standing behind him actually fishing are some of the doctoral students
Love these kinds of videos. This format is like, snuggle up, focus on something. Grab some tea and snacks, get comfortable. The "shorts" video feed is just a soul sucking affair. Mostly videos that enrage people because they cause the most interaction. They figured out their algorithms are designed to keep every one outraged and they still havnt fixed that years later..
Very glad to see you try out this new sort of content style of "100 days/years playing X". Considering your love of long-form content and playing time-consuming games, this will hopefully pay for you :) .
I don't know if you've already done it, but I'd really love to see you do a full playthrough of Starsector. Not quite the build your own space ship stuff found in some other games, but might catch your interest. Keep up these full movies by the way! They're some of my favorite content.
I love having your long-form videos on in the background. Your voice and commentary is so amusing, and it gives me something to glance at if your reactions make it obvious something funny's going on.
The fact that the last time I watched this series it’s been 8 years. I used to watch all the time when I was younger and only recently rediscovered you is wild
Love Banished. I was always trying to avoid the death spirals as much as possible where my inefficiencies in building placement / worker allotment finally caught up to me when I'd either place everything some distance apart trying to be a little realistic versus packing everything in tight together to minimize travel time, usually had a good run.
16:45 regarding foresters and gatherers and hunting cabins, yes, you want them together. You may also want to turn off chopping for a bit just to make the gatherers and hunters more effective, but either way, foresters replant, and so long as they have enough trees to start with, then they will keep a fully replenish-able source of wood and keep your gathering and hunting cabins very effective.
I love the long episode! I was going to mention the Town Hall and then you built it and when you talked about why you cannot get Pepper Seeds, I was screaming your not ordering it but you worked it out :D
never watched your videos before, but I was happy to stumble upon this one! thanks for an hour of relaxing game play- fit nicely with an evening on the couch with wine and honey cakes! I know how to live the life haha!
The Forester Hut plays very well with the Gather's Hut actually, the foresters remove the stone and iron and harvest old trees whilst replanting new ones, which helps the gathering things spawn in for the gatherers.
I love ur medium long videos (:D) and I so wish we could have a full playthroughs. The kid loves sleeping to ur voice to for some reason so keep it up. Ur litteraly giving me more free time!

My god Lath, your'e hitting me right in the nostalgia now. I'm still watching the last Kingdoms and Castles and this is right up there. I will surely enjoy this in about an hour or so :) Awesome. Can you try doing another Banished with some mods? Thanks for these long "movies". Great video. I honestly love Banished,so was pleased so see a longer video on it. This was also my first video on your channel, so a nice introduction to it. 😊😊
Lathrix getting back into this amazing game at the same time I am is great! These videos are what got me into the game in the first place a few years ago.
