The thing I love most is when the umpires give the dramatic "out" call when it's bang-bang. They get as much enjoyment out of the play as the players involved. Love baseball.
His son will definitely be there. I dont think Jr will consistently hit for average like SR. With .300 and up every year but Im sure hes going have more home runs than his pops.
Vladimir Guerrero was the only player that when I didn't care about the game, I would still turn the TV on, for, and switch the channel to, just to watch his at-bat. Every at -bat of his had the chance to produce something extraordinary. And soetimes multiple extraordinary happenings in the same at-bat. Even watching him strike out was amazing - bare hands, bare elbows, massive corkscrew twist on his swing-and-miss. ALWAYS exciting to watch at the plate. Expect anything with Vladimir Guerrero.
Was at a game at then-Pac Bell Park in 2000 between the Giants and Expos. Vlad uncorked a throw from the warning track that sailed into the backstop screen, 20 feet up on a rope.
It never ceases to amaze me how underwhelming announcers can be in the face of greatness. That's a HOFer making miraculous throws. They show almost no awe, and some of them hardly comment on what they just saw. Why are you even an announcer if you can't emotional about what that guy just did? Should've put his right arm in the HOF.
They were being homers for their team. You can truly tell great announcers and their love of the game by how they describe great plays by the opposition. One of my favorite memories is watching Nolan Ryan (then with Houston) throw a No Hitter against the Dodgers. Vin Skully's call of the game is memorable, almost poetic, even though it was against his team.
Bo Jackson has entered the chat… But seriously Vlad had an absolute cannon. Being a former outfielder I love seeing these guys getting the respect they deserve. Some of us had really strong arms but not enough control to keep from killing a batter at the plate 😂
Throwing a strike home from the outfield was always my favorite part of the game. Vlad's arm is legendary tho, in college they timed our throw off the crow hop I'd be surprised if vlads was less than 110 mph.
These throws were not just hard, they were accurate....I even hit pause on some of these throw outs and could not believe on most of them were also dropping just at the right time to make it easier to tag the runner, wow!!! How good is that by Guerrero, I'm glad he made the HOF.
I watched him play when he was with the AA Harrisburg senators he played center field he threw a one hop strike to home from the warning track I've never seen any arm like his ever
Don't forget about Moises Alou and Larry Walker and John Wetland, shout outs Marquis Grissom and Cliff Floyd as well the 94 Expos were the best team in baseball and got shafted by a work stoppage
Everybody talks about who didnt do steroids, but Vlad is THE ONLY player im 100% convinced didnt do roids. Just look at the natural de progression of and breakdown of his body. In his later stages as an Angel his knees were so bad, look at him hobbling just to get to the ball. I will always respect Vlad for being all natural, hands down my favorite player growing up
Me too, and I'm a Dodgers fan. I remember how tough they used to be back in the 90's with all of those great players. Sad they never had a chance to make it to a World Series.
I love that Pedro Martinez and Vladimir Guerrero were teammates

Except that it's being ruined by video review. Human error is part of the game.
Great comment.
Getting obvious calls wrong when everyone can see what happened shouldn't be part of the game.
I umpired a few seasons on 13-14 ball, and having a good punch out on the paths is key, your ring up on a strike out though, better practice that
That first clip was a amazing throw.
That first throw is insane. Perfection.
Cannon arm is an understatement

totally agree. He could golf balls bouncing off the dirt. I think he led the league in hits made out of the strike zone

The game are horribly long and debilitatingly slow...you cant react well when you struggle to just not fall asleep.
