  • In today's tutorial I will show you how to knit this easy Daisy knit baby cardigan sweater, coat or jacket for girls between 12-18 months. You can also knit this little cardigan smaller or bigger by simply changing needle size, see below. Thanks for watching and I hope you like and subscribe to my channel.
Aproximate gauge with 4mm needles and #4 yarn 2in=13 rows/9st
THESE SIZES ARE NOT EXACT THEY ARE APROXIMATE SINCE NOT ALL BABIES ARE THE SAME SIZE AND SINCE TENSION WILL VARY FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER
6-9M use 3mm knitting needles with #4 yarn
9-12M use 3.5mm knitting needles with #4 yarn
    12-18M I used 4mm knitting needles with #4 yarn
18-24M use 4.5mm knitting needles with #4 yarn
2-3yrs use 5mm knitting needles with #4 yarn
**NOTE for the sleeves where I change to smaller needles go down 1/2 needle size from which ever needles you're using above
For this knit baby cardigan sweater I used 4mm needles for the whole sweater but switch to 3.5mm needles for the end of the sleeves. I used #4 weight yarn by Yarn Bee and used about 212 grams of yarn. Thanks for watching 🙏😊

Thank you for this pattern. I usually do raglan cardigans for these small sizes, but I LOVE your yoke. I''ll knit this as soon as the pullover for my 13 yr old granddaughter. The only thing I would do differently is knitting the sleeves in the round.

This is just the sweetest little sweater! I finished watching on YT on my fire stick so I could "get the big picture." I can't wait to make this but, I need to go pick up a few buttons.
I think this would be sweet for baby boys too, just have to switch the button hole sides.
I truly love your knit and crochet videos. You're always so clear in your instruction and your filming is nice n close so we can see exactly what you're doing. Just awesome!

This is such a pretty cardigan! ( found this on my hubby’s iPad)
I’m going to knit my very FIRST cardigan for my granddaughter by following YOUR tutorial here STITCH BY STITCH and ROW BY ROW.
Currently I’m on Row 12 of the body part after the FOUR repeated patterns and “ leaving” the sleeves.
    Wish me luck... 😉

@@knittingforbaby Yeah! I’m done my very 1st baby cardigan for my granddaughter! I got carried away and knitted 10 extra rows for the body, so I added 8 more rows for the sleeves. Hope it won’t be too long & weird. I found seaming the sleeves together is the hardest part.
Thank you very much again!!! I’ll look through your channel and find my next project...

A few questions. When you divided for the arm and then you went back to pick up the arm stitches, you only picked up the stitches on the waist yarn? You did not pick up the additional two stitches? And no point in making the sleeve for you working in the round?

Hello. Thanks for this tutorial. I have a couple of questions. I noticed you knit through the back loop. Would you explain when and why to do so. Also, I’m confused about the edge stitches. When should one slip purlwise or knitwise? With yarn in front or back? Sorry for all of the questions. I just want a neater finished item. Thanks!!!

Just a thought, maybe add at the beginning of the video the length adjustment that you suggested at the end of the video.

I want to knit a men's cardigan. I'm looking for a tutorial but I can't find one. Have you knitted a men's cardigan before? I found some but they are crochet not knitting. I'm in love with this baby cardigan. You made it so easy to follow. I'm half way through. I want to make my kids cardigans for Christmas. I have 2 boys and 2 girls. They are adults so I don't want to do a good job.

I have really enjoyed this pattern and would love to do the final edging but have found that a bit confusing. Not sure how to get the slip stitch with the crochet hook. I'm definitely going to knit this again and try it again.

Just purchased your pattern on Etsy. I have some beautiful pink yarn, but it is DK yarn. Can I still use this pattern and how would I adjust needle size for 6-9m baby?

5:45 Hello! It looks like you are changing the direction of which way you are entering the knit stich at this point. Is there a reason for this? I am a beginner, and i haven't learned this technique. I'm not sure if you explain this at some point. Thank you!

thank you for this! so gorgeous! how long are the needles you are using? does the needle length matter?

    • @knittingforbaby
      @knittingforbaby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I think they were 32in long. I recommend you have them be at least 32in long but I think 48in long are ok too. Shorter needles you may have a hard time when making the sleeves.

Thank you for sharing your talent. I love all your projects, they are beautiful. I am knitting the sweater and just decided now that i d like to do the sleeves in the round but i added the 2 stitches. Can i still knit the sleeves in the round or would the sleeves not be centered? Thanks for your time

This is what I would do. Id use 5.5mm knitting needles with #4 yarn for a 3-4y size and adjust as you go by making less or more rows for the body and sleeves. I hope this helps.
