    I had the Wonky Fuel Gauge Syndrome on Her Ladyships Montana. GM rigorously deny any wrongdoing and blame the fuel which damages the Potentiometer tracks, giving false readings and if left too long will require pump replacement. Got some gas cleaning juice from the dealership and it fixed it. .

    That odd pipe thing over the building being built is a concrete pump truck. You dump from the concrete truck into the pump truck and the pump truck can place the concrete almost anywhere, but it makes that truck kind of complex and expensive.
    I also just replaced a GM Savana fuel pump. GM was nice enough to put 3 connections where you can reach and most of the others with enough play that you can drop the tank to reach them, except one, which barely gave you room to work and I couldn't get it off anyway because the quick connect fitting was stuck on and didn't come off as simple as it went on.

    This brings back an old horror story from the 80's for me. Way before cell phones came out I broke down in the middle of no where because the fuel pump went out on me. It was the middle of August and over 100 degrees in humid south Georgia and I had a suit on because I just attended a buddy of mine's wedding. I must have walked five miles before someone finally stopped, the road I was on was very rural out in the county and hardly traveled on by autos. I probably lost six pounds that day!

    • @willw8011
      @willw8011 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I almost crashed due to a fuel pump. Driving 80 mph on the freeway, then exit. Let off the fuel and hit the brakes a little bit. Try to hit the brakes again to slow down for a left turn and no more vacuum assist or power searing. Look at the tac and had nothing! Damned near hit the concrete bridge guards to keep people from going over the bridge. Put the truck in neutral to try to restart it, and nothing. Truck comes to a stop on the bridge blocking the only west bound lane of a State highway. 110 degrees and it is about to rain in Casa Grande, Arizona. I'm driving a black truck too. I get out and go under the truck to smack the tank and few times, then restart it. Fuel pump fails again after just getting the truck moving a little bit. I put the truck in neutral and just barley perfectly park it at Dairy Queen. I spent 3 hours eating ice cream and root beer floats until a friend of a friend with a tow truck comes and gets me. Horrible!

    Changing a fuel pump can solve a lot of issues, and you correctly mentioned the main diagnosis which is checking pressure at the fuel rail. I'll mention comparing your o-ring sizes since I got a (non-oem) pump with a ring that didn't fit and wasted a lot of time trying to force the new pump in there without any luck.
