Ramiro Monsivais your clutch has air in the system needs to be bled out.
@Jeffrey Immanuel You’re right no one cares and I’m blocking you
You prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the account password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Luca Hugh Instablaster =)
I'm a mechanic and I've got to say I love how you describe what your doing and why as you work. Damn good video!
Yep great diy for my current apprenticeship here in my area
Finally! An informative how-to without all the extra b.s. or missing information. Steady and clear image, & carefully and well described process. I just helped a (single mom) friend get this done without a hitch thanks to this video. The cost of repair at a shop or dealership was well outside her budget so this video truly helped a family in need. God bless!
You are a good friend, Sir. I have quite the oil leak and by watching TH-cam videos I was able to change the valve cover gasket, spark plugs and PCV valve. I still have an oil leak. After watching this video, I'm basically feeling kind of screwed. I do not have the means, or the proper tools, to do this job myself. I pray your friend knows and appreciates what you've done for her. 💯🙌
@@ddobbins777did you ever figure it out? These Hondas just burn oil when they get past 200k miles
@@-_-abk You are not wrong! This is quite the story, so bear with me - you may even be sorry you asked. 😂
I despise going to the dealership because I feel like they take you for all you have, but I decided to take advantage of the fact that I needed my oil changed and that they would have it on a lift and would be very interested in the oil leak. I told the lady up front that I knew it had an oil leak, I just needed them to change the oil and rotate my tires. There was some confusion (gasp! 😱) and when I picked up my car they charged me for a diagnostic fee to find the oil leak. I'll save you the drama from all that only to say I did NOT pay that fee. They narrowed it down to the timing cover gasket and spool valve. You'll love this also, they gave me a total of $4,511.21 worth of repairs that needed to be done to my vehicle. Seven of the items listed were listed as maintenance. Four were listed as repairs and then there was an additional line for a new battery at $221.50 because my battery failed the test.
(**Very dramatic eye roll**)
Needless to say, I ordered my parts and got right on it! 😂🙌💯
@@ddobbins777 so the car is back on the road and it’s running good again? That’s fkn awesome dude
@@-_-abk Absolutely! 290,733 miles strong! It's been a damn good ride. ❤️
Brian you are,, by far, the best one handed mechanic- Period!
YOUZTUBE2000 lol thank you!
YOUZTUBE2000 have you seen chrisfix??
Thank you for this video, saved me over $2000!!! My son burnt the clutch up on his 2010 Accord and this video and the 20 times i watched pre/during gave me the confidence to take this on in my garage on jack stands.
Used this video to successfully complete my first solo clutch replacement and I am super duper grateful for you taking the time to make it, share it and walk the viewer through the entire process step by step from beginning to end. Thank you! Every car has its own quirks so had to be flexible with what was actuality possible on my own 2005 accord but your base of information was key to understanding what needed to be done to finish the job correctly. Wise man once said, you can do it right, or you can do it again. With your help, I got it right the first time. Much appreciation. Moving forward.
How long did it take
Took me roughly 40 hours
Would likely take significantly less if ever had to do it again. Probably. Hopefully. First time through spent a fair amount of time figuring out how to get things done on vehicle. And what tools were needed and acquiring them. Rear main seal wad a pain to remove until realizing it has a metal ring inside of the outer rubber like plastic covering. Once I knew that, came out in 5 min since that info allowed for what could and couldn't be done without damaging anything around it. This video made the entire process possible however. A fantastic baseline from start to finish.
I used this video to replace the clutch on my 2006 Accord. This video is excellent and describes all the steps perfectly. I did the work with the car on jack stands and also used the jack to support the transmission once everything was unbolted. The only major problem I ran into was rusty nuts/studs on the (2) engine mounts that sit on top of the sub frame, had to drill them out. Total time to complete was about 16-18 hours. Thanks for the great video!
I'm probably going to finish in about the same amount of time. Also a 2006 accord. I had a really difficult time getting the transmission back in. I was also doing this with jack stands and just a regular floor jack. To get the transmission back in, I used the floor jack, and a second bottle jack to get it positioned just right. Then I put in two of the bolts and used them to draw the transmission the last 1/4" onto the engine.
I'm doing this on a car one year newer, but about 1 year later, and I had the same problem. The metal/rubber trans mounts on the subframe had a lot of rust, and one bolt sheared off. I had to get a new trans mount, too, because the rubber ripped off.
I also had plenty of extremely stubborn bolts that took a lot of work to break loose.
Just finished the clutch job on my daughter's 05 Accord. Your video was a lifesaver. I had never done the clutch on a front wheel drive. Thanks a bunch.
I bought my 2003 Accord EX Coupe in 2020. I started having issues with my clutch almost a year later and it eventually went completely out. I didn't know what to do. Not everyone can afford to put their car in the shop for a clutch replacement. $1400 is just not affordable. So, since I'm slightly mechanically inclined I started looking for videos on how to do it myself. To be entirely honest, the only thing I'd ever changed on a vehicle was the tires, my master cylinder, and my slave cylinder. I hadn't even changed my own oil yet. However I found your video and was able to completely change my clutch BY MYSELF. I have to applaud you and tell you how thankful I am that you created a very thorough video that left me with no question that I was doing it correctly. I have now changed two honda clutches and I'm starting on my 3rd. Thanks so much and keep the videos coming!!!
And you're a woman or man? Your profile shows female.
I'll need your help Iam trying to this job
I'm an experienced home mechanic, and this was a pretty complicated job. This video helped me make sure I didn't forget something and the correct sequence for disassembly/re-assembly.
All back together and working great! Thank you!
Nice I’m glad the video was helpful and you got the car back together in one piece. Thank you for watching!
By far this is the best how-to video I've ever seen for this job. Very clear, accurate, precise, comprehensive, and included all the torque specs!
Great job, and thank you for sharing your knowledge! You are clearly an excellent and outstanding mechanic!
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to record it. And the editing process. Solid job. Well done. I learn so much from your channel.
Just finished replacing my sons clutch on a 2005 accord. This video was awesome and a great help. I didn't get it done in 37 min like you, but it saved me time and aggravation.
Thanks so much.
David Radtke I wish it only took me 37 minutes. Lol power of editing. Glad the video helped and thank you for watching!
This is a great video. I have done this on a (way too) lowered civic and other cars and now have to do an Accord. I never even thought about NOT removing the frame/cradle. Just didn't think you could. I will definitely be using your method tomorrow. Thanks for saving me several hours of labor.
383yj Glad to help. Good luck with the project and thank you for watching!
Excellent video, it saved me the hassle of figuring out what needs to come out and what doesn't. Thanks for making a tough job 100 times easier.
I just did this job on my sons car and while it took a while I tackled it without issue. Excellently done and thank you tons!!!
I just finished the job on my son’s car thanks to your vid! It’s running and shifting smooth as butter now. Thank you!
God bless you. The fact that you led a straight up amateur mechanic (radiator, alternator, brakes) to do this job is remarkable. If this video had a rating it would be without a doubt a 10/10. Keep up the great work
One of the best how to videos on youtube! Very informative & complete, Great job! Thank you!
I literally held the flashlight for 37 minutes while you were doing the repairs. Amazing work 👌👍👍👍
@NORMAN STORMY 😂 He didn't really need us, did he?
I done mine clutch today. I done it only becouse you show on this video how to do this without remove frame. Thank You so much. This is the best video which i ever saw on TH-cam 👍🙏
Thanks you for this video. I used this video to help me swapping the engine on my 2007 accord..without this video I think I would never do the swap.
Thanks again!!
Finest, most concise video of its kind I've ever seen. Subscribed.
@@robertbryant7771 glad you liked the video. Thank you for watching and subscribing.!
There's no way I could have got it done without this vid, thanks and where do I send the beer?
Glad to help. No need to send anything. Thank you for watching!
This is one of the best how to automotive videos I have seen. Going in order, mentioning the tq specs. I can litterally use this as a full reference for everything I need without having to open a manual.
Glad you like the video. Thank you for watching!
I just saved myself $2000+ labor by DIY education and application. Thanks 🙏 for such a wonderful helpful video on this clutch DIY repair. Excellent and optimal tutorial hands down!!!
Can't say enough good things about this video. Very Very informative. I usually deal with dsms but when my daily wouldn't go into gear and clutch wouldn't disengage I bought new stuff and fixed it with this video plus shimmed the pivot ball now goes into gear perfectly.
Ur out standing, did exactly how you did to the t broken down , not long at all getting ready to put in clutch ,saved me lot of money, Brian thank you ,ur a stand up guy,I'll be. Following you ur honest, stay safe covid 19,👍👍
One of the more detailed videos I found on my Accord...thanx
That's how you make an instructional video!!! Thank you very much! Everything is clear, well-lit video, well explained in the exact time! Kudos!
Thank you very much!
Just did my 2012 (8th gen, 08-12.) A couple differences, but mostly the same. inner starter bolt can stay, there's another 17mm bellhousing bolt behind the CKP sensor panel by the passenger CV. air snorkel by the radiator needs to come off to get room for the plenum. some of the wiring is different, but common sense. I live in the rust belt so removing the upper ball joint was easier than the lower, still allowed me to get the CVs out. All other differences were minor and common sense (6 bolts on plenum vs 5, one driver side tranny mount vs two, etc.)
Thanks for the video. Most online resources illustrate doing it the Honda way (subframe removal) so thank you for taking the time to document this.
Also props to your video/narration skill. Very easy to follow
p.s. since a lot of people ask in the comments, it took me about 15 hours but I have a mechanical background and all the necessary tools
Thanks for this idea! I used this technique yesterday and maaaaaannnn it saved me so much time and worked out great!
Tomorrow is the day for me.
And I am coming back to this video over and over again after browsing internet for the info on how to replace flywheel/clutch/pressure plate and such on 7th gen Accord.
Most of videos and guides are either with removing subframe or missing some info or extremely hard to understand due to shaky video and mumbling.
So... Thank you for such a detailed and easy to understand tutorial!
Thank you and good luck with the job. Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the vid! So far so good. Got my tranny, clutch, and pressure plate out. Never pulled a transmission. Was gonna get another car until I found this video. Was doubting I could do this myself on the ground using jack stands and a floor jack. Waiting on a clutch kit now. Hopefully she'll be running again soon. Thanks again for taking the time to make and put out this content
Best most imformant video I have ever seen on youtube or anywere else. Looks like I'm a little late but I just got done doing this to my 06 honda accord coupe and I'm a mechanic but this video still came in handy. I didnt want to pull the sub frame an I came across this video thankfully. Great information and very well described. Thank you. Only thing I noticed is that you kept calling the release bearing a pilot bearing. But still nothing to complain about. Keep it up man and great job.
Do you have a v6?
Is this a job you can get done in your driveway ?
Outstanding! Thank You Sir. Doing my studies , Learning Honda Vehicles. I am about to do just this in the coming future.
Great vid man, I really appreciate the time you put into making it. Amazing attention to detail
Exactly, that's the point for me.
The attention to detail.
Great job Brian.
Good video. I did this in my 01 accord and I didn’t realize this many Honda’s where the same. H series K series b series j series.
Great and very helpful video! I might just be able to replace the Main Seal on my 03 Accord. I have AT any helpful tips that diff from the MT install and repair?
This is an awesome tutorial! Thank you for taking the time to go through each bolt.
Thank you for watching!
One ☝️ the best didn’t buy the car as yet but this video is big motiva
MAN THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO JUST CHANGED MY CLUTCH AND ALL WHILE WATCHING THIS VIDEO BEFORE DURING AND AFTER. now i am leaving while my wife cranks it and drives it lmao told her if anything is wrong set it on fire or drive it into the river i dont even wanna hear about it HAHA FINGERS CROSSED
This video was so great! got my clutch done just by watching this thank you 😊
Awesome glad the video was helpful. Thank you for watching!
I'll be doing this at my garage. Obviously I don't have a hydraulic jack to lift the car higher. And don't have a transmission jack. Feels like mission imposible 😫. Great video sir!
excellent tutorial you have mechanical and narrative skills in abundance.
Hi brian
Gona do this job today tomorrow
Such an awesome presentation bro really appreciate you bro
Thanku so much
How’d it go?:)
Amazing video shows every step so accurately such a good step by step guide
How to Automotive, you did an amazing job. Thanks for posting. Attn to detail and explanations on why/how you were doing a particular thing was appreciated. Sadly, after watching this one, I've been forced to reckon with the fact that my rear main seal leak is going to damn my beloved Accord. It took A LOT of tools I don't have to get all that done. But, hey... A little education and acceptance never hurt anyone, right?
Thanks again!
Sorry to hear about your Honda. They are good cars. Thank you for watching!
You’re in the video with him😂😂
I just did this to my 2006 accord. Worked perfectly. Just a quick question. How can you tell if the throw out bearing is being engaged/disengaged fully by the clutch?
Great video , explaining every detail and the tour que specs. 👌🏽
Wow that was very comprehensive! I am almost looking forward to my clutch dying... ALMOST.
Excellent video. A great reference to keep on hand.
Thank you for making this video!! I preparing to attempt to remove my manual transmission so i can so a rebuild. Is it possible to remove the transmission completely following this videos instructions? Is there enough clearance?
Thank you for the informative video. Can this process be modified for a 2008 Odyssey?
Quality video, quality Honda ❤️, with OEM quality parts! Do you remember how long this took you? Im curious. Also a tip, next time u can torque the axle nuts in the air, just stick a screw driver in the rotor vent to keep the axles from spinning if not in gear. ⚙️
Would you think the main seal on the pulley side would be the same? I have a leak starting and it appears to be right between the main pulley & oil pan. Thank you!
Brian, very informative. What was the brand and type of the red grease used in the rear main seal?
Just did my 2013 accord using ur video, it really helped a lot, THX!
Glad everything went smoothly. Thank you for watching!
How did everything turn out? Going to do it on my 2016 accord soon
@@yavz7565 been driving the car for over a year now on the new clutch and hasn’t skipped a beat. Just remember to take your time, this job took me 3 days to finish, each day about 6 hours of work, just because I’m a beginner at this and never did a job this big before. organize all your bolts and nuts in cups or bags so u don’t mix them up when ur putting them back. And bring a friend or two if u can to help take the trans out and put it back in.
Short and to the point. Very helpful. Thanks for specs too.
Thank you!
Great video - very informative. Do you know if the procedure is possible on a 2008 Honda Accord with the 4 cylinder? Thanks.
When I googled this it brought up a clip, let’s call him billy bob. (Stereotype meant) Billy bobs clip was 4 mins for this whole job. I specifically heard him say we greased it all up so it will change gears easier(I agreed with your method leave it as it is), then he said something else country as hell and I was out. Thank god I found your video. Awesome job I can tell it’s going to take me a week myself .😂😂😂
Alex Witcher lol I don’t know who Billy Bob is butI’m glad you like the video. Thank you for watching!
Bought the seal removal tool that you used and the tabs broke off the fingers first try. I removed the seal ghetto style by first drilling through the metal portion of the seal using a 3/32 bit, then running a #8 sheet metal screw into the seal. I then grabbed screw with a pair of vice grips and use a large screw driver to pry it up while pulling on it.
Video is a work of art. Thank you! I'm thinking of doing this job on mine. Seems like a good time to swap out some other buried components. Any suggestions on what to replace vs what to leave alone? (Example: why not go ahead and toss a new starter in?) Also, should I look into a replacement hose/gasket kit or try to reuse originals? I've got an '03 with 270k miles.
Hello Sir, I saw that you filled the transmissions with oil through a fill plug positioned vertically on the transmission. I have the same car and I filled the transmission through a lateral 17mm fill plug positioned little bit upper than the 3/8 drain plug. I checked the Honda diagrams and indeed there are two 17mm fill plugs on the transmission. However the Honda manual shows in the pictures the fill plug positioned horizontally. Why is that, what is the point of having two fill plugs? I would use the one near the battery like you did because is easily accessible but it is a little further than the horizontally one. Will the oil go in the same compartment, I am a little confused. Thank you
Great job 1 of best I seen by far
Thank you!
will this be similar process on a 2000 Honda accord 4 cyls automatic? thanks in advance
Thank you! A lot of videos on this DIY are a joke. Yours is just amazing!
Hey man! Was just wondering if you have any tips on separating the transmission from the engine. I removed every bolt needed but it just won’t budge, even with pry bars.
100/10 video sir 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Fantastic Video, thanks so much!
You can change the small seals behind the aluminum plate in this position?
Is this the same process for a 2006 honda accord v6 manual?
Great video man thank you
you sir are amazing, much appreciated !
One hell of a job brother👌🏿
Luv the honda content,thank u👍
I followed this procedure and it's way faster for sure ! This info is pure gold keep it up👍.
Thank you!
I have a question, what does the starter spin on an automatic version of the K24A4 engine to get the car started, is it a flywheel?
Dam. Amazing video love it. Thank you. Is this procedure same for acura tsx 2004?
Anyone know if you can do this with an automatic transmission without dropping the frame? I would imagine the torque converter may be too big to get in the way to be able to get to the main seal?
Amazing job with this video
This will definetly help me fix mine
Oh what size cotter pin are you using by the way
and what spray do you use to clean off the oil on the flywheel?
I need to replace the rear main seal on an 03 accord v6 automatic would this method give me enough clearance?
Great video
Thank you for sharing!!
Great video! Btw, you don’t need to remove the 14mm bolt holding the starter. By removing that, you risk breaking the knock sensor when you simply don’t need to do this. Besides that, solid video!
Great video, where are you located at ? I might need you to do this work and more on my accord
Very smart 🤓 thanks for the video 📹
what transmission is? i whant to do a manual swap on my 06 ex accord im looking for info
Do you know if this would work on a 2012 tsx
awesome job very through !
Can this be done a v6 without subframe removal?
Excellent video. Thank you.
@@emberreigh3130 thank you for watching!
man you are something awesome!! could you do the same thing to an automatic honda accord?? thanks!!
If one comes in the shop 👍
Would this be the same process for an 05 with the 3.0?
Thanks a lot for making this
this looks like it can be done in 4h. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching!
I had done this before on a euro R ACCORD.... SUPER EASY
Jesse Allen it’s not too bad of a job. Thank you for watching!
