Hi Ann Marie, I’ve been away from Hella Basque for the last several months so it was a surprise to hear that you were on a sabbatical from the channel. I’m glad your dream of being in the Basque Country, learning Euskara, has come true. I’ll jump on Instagram to follow your adventures.
Very interesting channel Anne Marie :) I'm myself half basque & half kabardian, born in Uruguay and now living in Scandinavia, wish you to enjoy your time in the motherland.
lol same! I'll be spending a month in Bilbo / Bilbao and exploring smaller towns around there. Although I won't be doing a language school, that sounds like a great experience :)
I love your channel Anne Marie. You and I might be cousins. My Grandfather was from a village called Banca on the french side in the Pyrenees. He was a shepherd who moved to California as a young man and eventually bought land in New Mexico where he became the father of my mother. Jean Iriart was his name. I myself and French Spanish and Basque. So in some ways I am my own worst enemy. Love your channel. Can't wait to see your trip. Mom is a fan as well. I told her to subscribe. Your father reminds her of her own.
Great news! You'll be learning a lot in barnetegi, that's for sure. I'm living in Iparralde, somewhere between the coast and Garazi. Would be a pleasure to meet ☺️
Très très bon voyage!!!!!!!!🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊😍 If you are not yet gone, where in Iparralde?? Yes! I have lots of questions about going to a Basque language school; please tell us everything about it.
Thats funny cuz I was thinking about this just a minute ago ! I am going to the Basque country this summer as well ! 👍 We can totally possibly hang out! That would be super funny ! I'll follow along in the journey and keep you posted ! :)
Zorionak!!! Great news! I also come from the diaspora (Argentina) and now I live in Erratzu and I'm a Euskera teacher at Donibane Garazi. If you're around please contact me and I will very happy to meet you and do mintzapraktika with you!!!
AnnaMarie my family and I are going that way at the end of Sept into Oct. I will be somewhat close to San Sebastian (Markina). Would really like to meet you.pintxos and vino 👍
Oso ondo. Asko ikasi. I recommend you to go to Beasain or Mondragon.in the middle of Gipuzkoa. You will hear Basque everywhere. Visit the technological schools, the cluster of innovative industries that represent the mentality of the basque entrepreneurs.. Visit CAF, AMPO, IRIZAR, and MCC. Please discover as well the museums about the origin of the industrialization.
From the people I’ve talked to who have done it, they say it’s definitely worth it! Super hard when you don’t understand much but they said they learned a lot in a very short time.
How is Covid in Basque Country? How has it been hit? Does them having RH- blood type make Covid less severe? Since the new theory is rh- blood makes people resistant to Covid
I did some further digging and my grandparents said their great grandparents were from the Eastern Pyrenese from eastern val de arran. sadly we only speak spanish now. i hope one day to visit spain and that area. good luck sounds like so much fun.

@Alazar Wanderer Those are not Basque words!
The first two maybe a little bit. The others not at all.
@Alazar Wanderer They just sound Basque, but they don't resemble any specific word.
@Alazar Wanderer Erten= irten, Exit in english.

Zorionak! I'm jealous. Enjoy!
Bon voyage. So how did you choose these 2 schools over others? Reputation, recommendation, or invitation?
Wish it was that deep! Literally it was just what fit into my schedule and which programs had beginners classes during that time.
I have a question: does it make sense to attend one of these enrollment programs, if you dont know any basque. (or just a tiny bit?)
It does. You learn a lot there, even if you don't know that much at first!
From the people I’ve talked to who have done it, they say it’s definitely worth it! Super hard when you don’t understand much but they said they learned a lot in a very short time.
i want to go to the running of the bulls
