@@stevenshockley4237 Yeah but there is still a size difference when you held the 2 clarinets next to each other. The Eb Clarinet reed is shorter & narrower than a Bb reed. Eb reeds break more easily than Bb reeds which explains why some musicians like to use Bb reeds on the Eb clarinet.

If I ever get an e-flat again, I'm making sure to spend a bit more money :D not only am I just bad at e-flat, but the cheap instrument I used was soooo bad.
I’m doing middle school band and am thinking of doing eb clarinet when I get to high school but idk if it would be better or harder. I think I need an opinion.
Stick with a Bb clarinet I’m in grade 7 senior band (at my school) and it’s way easier to me since I switched from clarinet to bass clarinet then back to Bb clarinet and it was easier but when I switched back I kept blowing to hard so I taught myself to play lighter
Dominant Cases Casos Dominantes It probably cost around $100, probably a little more. Got it on eBay, just one of the obviously cheap ones. I'd hoped it would work since my Bb is pretty great. I was wrong :D
I play clarinet and my little brother is wanting to learn but my Bb is too big for him do you think I should try letting him play an Eb clarinet? Would it hurt anything for him to learn Eb before Bb?
What’s the best reed to play the upper register?, I’m not having much luck with it. It’s all puff and wind. My reed is a 2.i can play the lower register no problem.
Well, from my unprofessional knowledge, I seem to recall that softer reeds make it harder to play high notes. Try getting comfortable with a 2 and a half :) try to have someone that's experienced with high notes help you too, in person help tends to work best.
Depending on how long you've been playing, I would recommend going up a reed size. I'm on my fifth year playing on a size four, and can reach C5, which scares my cat, ahaha
@@lukesuarez8038 Clarinet is not my primary instrument, in this video I hadn't touched clarinet in almost a year, and I haven't played since, so I'm not gonna play like I pick up the instrument often, this video was for info, not showing off.
Thanks for this man! Surprised more people haven't done this.
I am not a professional 🤣
Charlie Mendoza Eh, me neither :D
@@stevenshockley4237 haha yeah Bb is what my school used.

I don't think of anything professional when I play my clarinet, I think of the show Spongebob
snm my man, Squidward is professional though :P
I played flat in high school. I loved it
high notes in e flat clarinet are really hard at the first time, but it is getting better with the practice

how did you do it can you share with me , thank you
I wanna play Eb clarinet so badddd

If you can find an Eb that's better than the chinese crap I had, you'll like it haha. If you can, try both and see what you like better
In high school its harder and less common to pay eb clarinets
@@kirkt3970 And if you get a cheapo like mine was, you are DOOMED lol

Hi I was wondering where can I get the friction tape for the clarinet (like almost like a rubber thingy)
That one I wouldn't know. I'm sorry :(
@@stevenshockley4237 I see it's fine thanks for your help!
(It was called a "cork")
How much did that Eb cost you and where did you buy it?

Replace mouthpiece I did it with my b flat and it got better
I’m thinking abt getting a e flat clarinet since I play the alto clarinet so any advice? Thanks :)
Just get one that isn't a cheapo and you should be okay haha don't be me.
I play clarinet and my little brother is wanting to learn but my Bb is too big for him do you think I should try letting him play an Eb clarinet? Would it hurt anything for him to learn Eb before Bb?
Kayli May Blevins As long as he can do it I see no issue :) sorry I took ages to respond.
NO

Go up to a 3

Try a 2.5 and then slowly work your way up.
I started at a 3 and I’m at a 4 rn so I would say 3-4
Hehe a baby clarinet. Now do one with A key clarinet
I'll have to try that at some point :)
Is the Eb clarinet usually played in swing music? I feel there's a difference and I wonder if that is it.
I actually don't know nut that definitely could be :)
@@stevenshockley4237 gotta find out one day😂
Bb Clarinets still sound like Vuvuzelas when I play a C on them lol
Your reed on both is crazy high ngl
Welp, too late now :D
I don’t hear the difference and I’m a Clarinet section leader.... I’m lost lol but good video nonetheless
I could have compared better, too late now haha I got rid of the Eb.
Steven Shockley Nah it was fine lol. (but hey I could’ve took it)
Honestly, the eb isn’t that much differnet in sound so I’ll stick with my bb and my bass.
Good idea haha it's tiny and hard to play.
Just subscribe to you and you are better then me when you said "I am not a professional"
Fix your embouchure. I play clarinet.
It wasn't meant to be professional by any means. But the embouchure was not the issue on the Eb, it's just simply cheap and doesn't work well.
Katie Telaroli right it bugged me so much
@@lukesuarez8038 Then don't watch. I started I wasn't doing this professionally.
Steven Shockley look im sorry we are just giving you some advice and help trust me change your embouchure change your life😂
