At least it was in non-steam Adventure Mode. Having watched this and got a better understanding of the current state of Steam's adventure mode it might not matter much right now. But it will in the future!
Some occupations are pretty important for starting combat skills. Hunter, in particular; what's useful for that profession are transferrable to combat.
Great guide thanks. I bought it yesterday as I had been waiting specifically for adventure mode, but I have to be honest, the amount of stuff missing ("coming soon") has really put me off. Really fundamental stuff like not being able to trade at shops in towns, butchering animals for food, getting jobs, crafting, sitting in chairs, sleeping in beds etc. I hope we're not waiting another few years for that stuff, I aint getting any younger!
Couldnt you just play DF classic instead? If the askii graphics are off putting, you could just download one of the million different graphic overlays.
Hell yeH i haven’t seen you since I needed help with Siralim, and before that a handful of other games. Favorite TH-cam game helper for stuff like this. I was excited to see this pop up when I searched up info on adventure mode
I belive wrestler is really good too, not only for choking goblins and throwing kobilds around but also it makes you better at surviving grab from trolls
How can you set teh game so that you can travel to your old fortressess? I have several of them spread across different timelines in the same world but it doesn't give me the option to start in any of those timelines except for the earliest one. The later ones are not an option.
You need to activate the beta mode of DF. Go into the Steamlibrary - Go into the properties of Dwarf Fortress - press Betas - press the dropdown list and select "beta - Public beta branch. There you go (hopefully)
Can someone help me please? I bought the game when it came out on steam because I had heard such good things about it. I patiently wait for the adventure mode...and I just can't get in to it at all. I finally made a super fighter type hero and the first guys I fought utterly destroyed me. They were in a sub level of a fortress. Any tips at all? (The first i started was a koala and red panda type intelligent creature with a human ranger and that was just super convoluted and I didn't get out of the first town) at least I haven't been lost in super maze like fortress.
Also, how do you contact creators so they know about the issues that you like/don't like in beta adventure mode. I give them lots of credit for putting it out in open beta for everyone to play so they can find out how to make it better.
@@matthewschwartz8730 with how limited adventure mode is right now, it's better if you just make a super fighter from the start, so max your combat skills like fighter and sword or grappling, since fighting is just about all you'll be doing, until the other features come in. if you use range weapons, you'll find that you'll take extremely long to reload and sometimes its better to just melee, even if it's with your ranged weapon. as far as feedback goes, there's no point, this game is just a direct copy of dwarf fortress that came out long ago, and nothing will change until the entire game is copied fully, and every feedback you have is likely to be addressed or mentioned in the original game and forums.
You can! Go into the Steamlibrary - Go into the properties of Dwarf Fortress - press Betas - press the dropdown list and select "beta - Public beta branch.

Well I would have. If the mechanics to explain where already activated my friend! I chose the Goblin cause he is the perfect guy to play while Crafting/Butchering is still deactivated.

Pick the doctor profession and use those 5 points for swimming instead
@@Ilovemyfamilyandfriends-z3o you can learn swimming in the game, so its better to spend those for fighter or wrestler
You should take reader. It's one of the ones you can't train if you don't start with it, and it's super useful!

Wrestling is fun in the newest update i take off their armor as we fight and it makes it easier to kill them

In Travel Mode is a function for that. There's a bed icon, but I still have to research which other methods exist.
