If you extend the shifter you’ll defeat the point of the short shift kit , I’ve a mk1 with a tt shift box under the floor and a diesel geeks short shift kit on the gearbox , I welded an extension on the lever to make it easier to reach and the throw was long , cut it down and it’s now a compromise in comfort reach and short shift, only way to have it a decent short shift in a mk1 is to have the shift box and cables inside the car which is what I won’t do to mine
@@paulbainbridge6425 I’m going to double down on the short shifters. The ECS in cabin one in the shifter box, and then another one at the shift levers on the transmission tower. I already made an extension and the throw is a little long, so the second short shifter should actually get me where I need to be.
I just decided to buy a aftermarket shifter for my mk4, im stressing about how to adjust it! Let me know if you have any tips or tricks due to no "homing position" on the shifter.
@@NorthernHostility make sure trans is in neutral, lock the cable end links into their open position, eye ball the shifter in neutral and then release the cable end links without bumping the cable. Should get you close!

Did you mount the shifter with just two bolts?
