We met at MTVs spring break in Daytona! Been together ever since! He makes me laugh everyday, and seeing you and Erik acting goofy and silly made me giggle and think...they are gonna last. I had watched this tik tok of a mama visiting her friend who gave birth in the hospital and she said the same thing people are quick to say hi to the baby, but never go to the mom and ask how is she, and making she is okay and loved, and that's what she did for her friend brought her something similar and talked with her first, and than the baby
Colleen! I loved that chart you did with Flynn! I’ve been in therapy for years and the chart does help you really visualize out your day overall! I think that Flynn saw you react when you saw how many, even if they are little, things throughout the day made him feel on the lower end of the scale. Now he knows you’re fully understanding him and how valid his feelings are because as we all know the little things on an off day can add up to even more frustrations. Just really can be relieving to feel understood but definitely being able to understand it yourself and reflect

Tortilla talk question. How do you feel before your therapy sessions? Normally my brain screams at me that skip the session, the anxiety the stress and the judgement that I feel when I’m about to start the session is incredible. But when I’m there, I’m grateful and I leave the session giving thanks that I went. They say “when you feel like you don’t want to go, is the perfect moment to go” and at the end, is like that.
I was sooo out of sorts over the last week. Very emotional, doom feelings, just sad. Had no idea why...then I had my first car accident- at age 67! I don't know why I was so down...but then my daughter reminded me it was a blue moon. Guess my brain decided that meant- blue moods. We all struggle at times. This was my worst in quite some time. Hope everyone out there knows we can all lift each other up.

hey colleen! i’ve never left a comment on one of your videos, but i just wanted to applaud you on how genuinely well you communicate with your children :) in terms of art therapy methods, the scale of emotions you did with flynn is actually an amazing way for him to express himself. being able to create something beautiful with all of these hard emotions he’s having can be extremely beneficial, especially since he’s only five and might not be able to express himself verbally! different art mediums can be really fun, such as making pottery (playdoh perhaps for your kids’ ages), cutting out pictures from magazines and making collages, drawing, collaborative artwork, etc. if flynn, or any of your children become more crafty like you, learning about different art therapy activities can be super helpful! you are a wonderful mother for being so attentive to your children’s wellbeing, and we all see that :)

It sounds like Flynn would just love a book called "Ruby Finds a Worry". I read it aloud with my class every year! It's about a girl named Ruby who has a small worry. She keeps it to herself and it grows and grows and begins to stop her from doing the things she loves. Near the end, Ruby notices a friend who also has a worry (worries are illustrated to look something like clouds or scribbles so they can be visually seen). They decide to talk about their worries with each other and the worries begin to disappear. It's another great book to talk about different emotions with kids, and emphasizes that talking it out can really help!

I think that's the 3rd variation of that song I've heard, so weird! lol I grew up saying "down by the banks of the hankey pankey, where the bull frogs jump from bank to bank saying eeps, ieps, opes, ops, jumped off a lily pad and goes kerplops!" And the hand game that went with it was however many kids would gather around in a circle with our hands on top of the person's next to us (so essentially you're right hand would be on top of your neighbors left hand and your left hand would be underneath your neighbor's right hand). Then while we were singing it, we would go around the circle and slap our left neighbors hand and whoever's hand got slapped on "kerplop" got out (whether that be your neighbor hitting your hand or you moving out of the way in time for them to hit their own). Once it got down to two, you would hold each other's hand like you were doing a thumb war and your arms would make a motion like you were using a saw to cut something....if you arm was extended when you got to "kerplop" then you were the winner! That was a very popular game at camp during the 2000s, haha (I'm from Idaho).
So fun watching you and Erik playing together at the end. That’s so important in a marriage. Plus it brought back so many memories for me, I used to do both those hand clap songs growing up! Thanks for unlocking that memory! 😂
