This video just confirms that lead is indeed the best material for ballistic projectiles and the heavier, the deadlier.

This throw up the question of why don't hunters make and use a 9.5mm lead. I know why they don't use 12mm steel, they cost twice the price of a 9.5mm.The lead at 9.5mm would still get more energy than the airgun(good killing power) but the reduction in weight would give you less drop-off and therefore be more accurate. I'll have to search out a 9.5mm mould. Thanks for doing this test.

Bought one of your catapults to carry when I was in Okinawa. Got pretty good with it. Worked well on the Habu, using lead fishing weights. Still have it, but needs new bands.

Great video..Times have changed tho...On my Chrono with 3/8 Lead balls with simple shot Nitro Bands I get 530- 600 fps on my Barnett Black Widow.. If you had a wrist stabilizer your numbers would have been higher. Good work. Thank you. BTW A custom Barnett Black Widow with a 10 mm lead ball is LETHAL

Just found a mould for 000 buckshot that's .36" or 9.14mm. allowing that they would travel at a speed somewhere between the 12mm lead and the 9.5mm steel, the weight would be 137 grains they would give you approx. 15.4 ft/lbs

My calculations show that if you weigh 100 kg and can run at 1 metre per second (that is do 100 metres in 100 seconds, which is easy) then you have 100 Joules of kinetic energy. This is the same as 100/1/1.356 = 73.7 foot pounds. So the best thing to do is keep enjoying the beer and kebabs (to keep up the weight) and just run into your prey when hunting - obviously they have to be slow moving or bind/deaf with no sense of smell. That should kill them! Or did I get something wrong? Good video, thanks for uploading - cheers.

Great idea...thanks for that...I wouldn't even need to carry a catapult or gun.....gotta go,I am now off to look for some blind and deaf rabbits with no sense of smell!!!!!!

everything you get was wrong 100 kg at 1 m/s is 50 j not 100 j and it can be distract efficient only on huge resistanc like wall or enough heavy animal ., run into blind deer and kill it :D your funny what makes bullets lethal is small diameter and good penetration capability for injury importnat to live organs you dont achieve this be run into animal :D unless that was sarcasm than ok boxing strong punch can carry as much as 200-300 j Energy or more and nobody die after get hit into head because there is no penetration just acceleration whole head ., acceleration must be alot bigger for kill human inless the prey be small like cat rabbit than if you fall on tchem you could kill those animal be crush tchem to ground .,than such hunting will call "MOST FATTEST MOST DEADLIST SMALL TURTLE HUNTER EVER " :D also 100 kg cotton Candy at 50 m/s have 125000 j Energy 6-7 Times more than 50 bmg thit you think it will kill something ? like squirrrel ? hell no because its super soft and have big Surface area unless squirrl be on some thin baseball bat and cotton Candy dont ripp apart while compress on rabbit .
