Another tip for y’all is get the grill master chimney it’s $10 at Walmart and then just use regular charcoal no lighter fluid added. You use paper underneath to light the coals. Then you don’t have a lighter fluid taste to your food.
Oh dear... Save the veggies and seasonings for your food! Also, Charcoal needs to be all white/grey before you put your food down! Your charcoal wasn't hot enough on one side, and too hot on the other. You can put a little can filled with water on a corner of the grill and it will help keep the food juicer too, so you don't waste all those veggies! All those veggies would be delicious ON the burger. Love, ya'll ! ❤️
Josh & Mama videos are so comforting to me. I would love to see more if these two. A reality show and Mama getting to travel and see/try new things is something I would love to watch. I wanna see mama succeed and win, she's so cute and happy and gives good vibes :)

If they don’t send mama step by step instructions including seasonings, cooking time, cooking methods and temperature🤦🏾♀️ mama makes thing’s up as she goes 🤷🏾♀️😂🤦🏾♀️😂❤️❤️❤️
@@LR11306 you can't seriously think that! The coals were still black. It didn't dry out because it didn't cook not even near the temperature of the other grill. I was a chef in a previous life for 20 years.
I don't have tic toc. I admit I've never seen this trend, but let's be honest here, if Mama seasoned her food like she seasoned her charcoal, she'd be a REALLY good cook! This channel would be on a whole different level!
@THEHORSELOVER235 Adding salt and pepper wouldn't have ruined the experiment because she didn't add those seasonings to the charcoal, she added onion powder garlic powder and peppers if it worked those flavors still would've came through. 🤷
As a Texan I’ve never heard of this but if done right I’m sure it great, so you put it on before you light the coals or after they turn white and the flame is gone?
The difference was caused by the unseasoned grill having better air flow so the fire was hotter and it cooked the chicken & burgers faster. The fire in the seasoned grill took longer to start and spread to all the coals as the vegetables and spices were blocking the air flow which means, in effect, the seasoned chicken & burgers cooked for less time and at a lower temperature which is why they were more juicy. You're not meant to cook on the flames of charcoal grills, you're supposed to wait until the flames are no longer visible. If you want to season the smoke on your charcoal grill then put a sprig of a woody herbs like Rosemary on the charcoal just before you start cooking. Still better is to put the seasoning on the food itself before you cook it like normal people.
ACF Exec. Chef here (ret). These people are clueless....much like most. He can taste "dryness". LOL....can he taste colors too?...The veggies lowered the temp. That's why it retained more moisture. Has nothing to do with how you lowered the temp....slow and low is the way to go.
If you cook chicken past the 165 internal temperature the chicken will be dry. Most people do not know this, that’s why even getting chicken breasts at restaurants are usually dry
Yes, it does work. You can buy Hickory Smoked charcoal, or smoke the charcoal yourself. It does make the difference. I have been told by guys that grill all the time when out fishing and hunting, that seasoned charcoal is the way to go. The seasoning rises in with the smoke, and helps it baste the meat of the chicken, beef, fish, whatever type of meat you grill. This is what some of the outdoorsmen do in North Carolina, which is where I'm from. Nothing new to me. Hope this helpes everyone out. Oh and the seasoning is usually done with what momma here uses. You can also use hickory wood, maple wood, But do Not use Pine wood. Certain Pine wood will make your meat taste, horrible, due to the sap that is inside the wood. So, I hope that also helps you out when you're camping...have a Wonderful day everyone😊😊😊
the seasoned grill's meat was juicier because the charcoal didnt fully burn because of the veggies (which is actually dangerous). next time add the veggies AFTER the charcoal turns white. basically the regular grill was over-cooked and the seasoned grill was under-cooked
That's because you're using moist heat. That's why you keep the lid on. You can accomplish the same thing by putting a cup of water in there and putting it in there and putting it on top back on. That's where I used to do roasts. I put a pail of water inside with the charcoals and it was a moist heat. I could show you a bit more than I could tell you. It's easier to show you and your mom's a little sweetheart. I have to say it's all I got to say about that
I love watching their videos. They keep you entertained and coming back for more. Such a fun family. I live about an hour from them in Gilbert, SC. I need to send her one of my recipes.
Seems like wasting food, the onions and peppers. A small aluminum pan or can filled with water in your grill would probably give moister results. Like when you cook a chicken with an opened beer can in it.
I'm pausing as she adds onions and peppers to the charcoal just to say I hope you read the charcoal instructions and you realized that you will poison your hamburgers if you don't light the coals and let that light fluid all burn out of the coals before you add food on top. Now let me watch and pray you don't poison yourself
NOT more moist, what happened is the coal on the "seasoned" grill was not a hot as the unseasoned. Unseasoned meat was over cooked while the other was just about perfect. Putting your "seasoning" on the coals is a waste of the veggies, maybe using dried seasoning might work but I doubt it. Most factory made briquets will have a chemical taste/smell, the no lighter fluid ones really have a chemical smell, were as the original briquets have no smell chemical smell till you add the lighter fluid. Good meat really only needs light seasoning as in salt and pepper, maybe some garlic and onion powder.

The veggies slowed down the cook, making them juicer. Nice job 😊😊
I came here to say the same thing. The charcoal didn't get as hot with them veggies on it. Making the food cook slower.
Also, the steam from the veggies helps to make the burgers more moist and juicy.
Not nice

Aided with steam from veggies. Both BBQ grills meat was put in and taken out same time.
The veggies made coals not so hot.. so temp difference is what caused it the dried meat was cooked hotter forcing liquids out of meat

The first grill was way hotter. Look at the difference in color of coals when you put the meat on. That's why the unseasoned grill meat was dryer
Well and also because the veggies contained liquid which steamed the chicken as it cooked, leaving it juicier.
