This is the best video on this subject I have ever seen. You explain this so clearly and I am really excited to watch the rest and then go watch and follow the block drafting videos
I knew there had to be a better way. Drafted my first bodice to the upper bust with just a 3" shoulder line and got the right and shoulder slope. Did an FBA and my pattern still looked flat. Then I closed the waist dart into the arm dart at the right height. After all this work I still had 3" of ease at the bust and 2.5" of ease at the waist. I was working toward a vest, but that won't keep me happy for long. I'm here to learn. Thank you Dresspatternmaking!
I'm looking forward to your new and improved block making videos. I' m currently working on a bodice block following your method. You inspired me in your bio when you said you struggled for years to learn the process. I'm in the same boat, but am determined to master this. Thanks for your time and dedication; you're awesome!
Hello Knowledge, You left me a comment on the Bodice Front video I uploaded last night. It was the right video but had the wrong cover (but the right thumbnail!). Anyway, I had to re-upload it, which means I had to remove the video and put up another one. Which means your comment disappeared along with everything else. That video is the imperial version. I am assembling the Metric version at the moment, hoping I will have it finished in a couple of hours.
Hello Thank you for making this video. may I please ask you a question about the calculation a,,b,c,d,increase 1inch but I am a J cup does that mean its 11 inches
Great video, Maria. Can you please advise what the extension of the side seam would be for a 6" and 7" difference between the upper bust and bust? Thanks
Hi Liz. It's basically 5/8 inch per Bust Cup. So 1 inch difference= 0.63, 2 inches difference = 1.25, 3 inches = 1.88, 4 inches = 2.5, 5 inches = 3.14, 6 inches =3.77, 8 inches = 5.04. My new system should make it easier for the larger ++ bust cups. Those video won't be finished for a couple of months though....
Hi Sofia, I did start making two versions of my videos - metric and imperial - but after I made this video. I'm not sure when I'll have time to go back and remake this one in metric.
Here is Part 2 of the Bodice Block Essentials:

Wow! This is really well made and pedagogical! Thank you for making, and for sharing!
It is the best reasonable tutorial about the bust measurement theory! Thank you so much.
I'm late to this, but this video has the clearest set of instructions and explanations I've ever come across!
And I'm very late responding. Thank you.
Thank you for putting this together. Just by viewing I have a fit issue identified!
