Definitely worth taking into account an "average" number of long trips/year where public charging is required then factoring that into an average annual running cost per mile. As has been said, that would provide a better comparision.
Thanks for the feedback. I did think about this comparison, however as individual circumstances vary I thought it might get a little complex. In my case for example most of my long trips are business related so my actual cost can be zero.
Charging away from home is crazy expensive at the moment. A 40mpg ICE car costs about 17p per mile - so your trip is 50% more than that. Obviously if most charging is at home then EVs are massively cheaper.
You may wish to add those expensive miles to an overall cost for say one year. The cost of running your iPace would become more realistic and would serve the community better.

I'm fairly new to the world of EVs, but was interested in your recent road trip charging costs. Sorry to be a bit pedantic about this, but when you charge at a charging station, isn't VAT added (+20%) but at home with your Intelligent Octopus, isn't the VAT only 5%? (standard home rate). Secondly, I was wondering why the charging prices themselves haven't been reduced, as the petrol/diesel prices have recently? As I understood it wholesale electricity prices have, or are, falling but not reflected in charge point prices. I was wondering whether you might know or whether I've got it all totally wrong.
Hi thanks for tuning in! Yes good point 20% VAT on the road and 5% at home which does help of cause and is part of the issue with prices being high. Whilst domestic prices have seen a drop recently my understanding is that this isn’t necessarily the same for commercial rates which still remain relatively high.

Not cheap at all. My Ftype is cheaper. EVs uneconomic unless charged at home. EVs are being ripped of hugely
